When Mary said, "Better than a horse" after he put a bullet in that guys head to save her in the final climatic scene, I fell out of my chair laughing 😂 Hilarious!
It's ironic that the occupation that broke up the family is the only reason he was able to save her. Congrats on the baby Mary, you'll make a fantastic mom!
The moment when her daughter gets taken and she screams for him. He stays there, focused. He knows that there is absolutely nothing he can do, except push the absolute terror of a father and listen for anything, for an accent, for a voice, for a distinct sound. But you can see the absolute fear in his eyes. What an scene. Liam Neeson was amazing in this job. So effortlessly cool too.
Real story about a girl in mexico and her mother. Her daughter was kidnapped and put into prostitution by the cartels then she was murdered or anyway she died. The government/police wouldnt do squat because they are afraid of the cartels. The mother did her own investigation and found who killed her daughter. She ended up getting payback and sending a bunch of cartel members to the morgue... but in the end the cartels did kill the mother too... but that mother was bad ass and deserved the mother of the year award for doing what she did.
This movie is like a heartfelt drama with action that makes sense. The sequels are much more like crazy action with drama tacked on. The sequels are entertaining enough, but you won't get the same feeling from them.
Kudos to Famke, she killed it as the bitter ex-wife. Everybody hates her, which means she did a great job. It's unbelievable that they thought this would be a straight-to-DVD movie. It's one of my top 5 all-time great action movies.
I'm 46 years old and I still update my parents when I am traveling. Granted it's in the WhatsApp family group, but they would truly worry if they knew I was traveling and they would not hear from me.....'cause I am still and will forever be their baby /youngest child 😊 Nothing like a parent's love for their child ❤
How does Mary not have a million subscribers? I almost didn't watch this because I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but watching Mary was well worth the time.
Wow kudos for watching this specific movie so soon after having a child. Glad it didn't break you completely, and that you enjoyed it! And of course congrats 🎉👶 🎉!
That is one of the big things about this movie, the realism, not the main character, but the fact this evil exists in the world. They keep smacking you in the face with it. The low level thugs, the police involvement, the clients at gravel pit and upper class people will to pay even though they have their own families. Both hard to believe and yet believable. Rambo 1 had the same feel in a way.
Has anyone here seen the 1985 movie Enemy Mine with Dannis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr.? If there are patreons here who have seen it and would like to recommend it to Mary, that would be great, it's an underrated classic that needs to be seen no matter what. Highly recommended!
After watching this movie maybe twice on my own and a few reactions to it, I just realized something. Everyone kinda went "Screw y'all" to the friends with the daughter on the trip. She was rescued while her friends are just lost in the trade and/or dead.
The gritty realism of this movie makes so much sense when you know luc besson wrote it. Also the mothers attitude makes sense from a place of sheltered entitlement.
You should do more movies based off of John Grisham he is one of the best legal thrillers authors out there with many of his novels made into movies. A Time to Kill (1989), The Firm (1991), The Runaway Jury (1996), The Rainmaker (1995), The Pelican Brief (1993). His first (A Time to Kill -1989) is still his best and a must watch movie.
Liam Neeson's performance is everything here. The famous meme may be his speech into the phone after the abduction, but what elevates this film for me are the moments like the one at 10:44 (right before) when the very human terror reaches out and grabs you from behind the silent father's eyes.
That scene where he talks on the phone with the “good luck” dude, it’s one of the most iconic lines in cinematic history, it’s been re-enacted, referred to, and emulated in media ever since!
Oh ... this is going to hit hard for a new parent! I think I am going to have to watch this movie again over the weekend - I have seen a fair few reactions to it recently and I need the catharsis of watching it 'properly'. Liam's acting in this is superb and the violence portrayal, as you said, feels real rather than super-hero over the top. As a widower, I also have a lot of fellow feeling for the man, as this movie was made the year before he lost his wife. I can see it in his face in Taken 2. It's a look we never completely can hide when we have lost someone we love too young. In his case, it was a skiing accident, in mine, undiagnosed cancer; so he had even less time to prepare than the couple of weeks I had. The grief changes you forever and, I suppose like any shared traumatic experience, gives you an implicit bond with others that have been through the same.
Hi Mary I am very glad that you liked this film and I do want to see your reactions to the other two TAKEN films . I like all three and all three are not exactly the same ....the third I think is my favorite as it has the Best ending . I have not ever been to Europe only traveled in the U.S. but when I visited from East coast to California at 22 I think that aged my mom about 10+ years . I was there for two weeks near a horse farm in northern California and it was beautiful weather everyday . I might go back and visit that area again someday . You look great and I hope that you are getting enough rest ....my niece had her baby last November and my nephew's wife just had her first baby in August . Thank you for your channel .
The movie started in my neighborhood, Hollywood, specifically Hollywood Boulevard, also known as the Walk of Fame. Musso and Frank's Bar and Grill in the opening shot, see Tarantino's Once Upon a Time...big scene in Musso and Frank's parking lot out back in Quentin's film.
Congratulations, on your new arrival! 🎉 So happy for you and your partner! God Bless you guys and thanks for sharing your lovely reaction to this classic, action packed Film.
Dear Mary (Marijke), first of all, my heartfelt congratulations on giving life to an Angel.💗 I am so happy for you and your family. Nothing in life compares to giving birth to a new life. The fact that you managed to make a reaction already is mindblowing. Kudos to you! 21:42 I laughed out so loud, for real :))) And then, of course, you added that funny duck sound, which made the whole thing even funnier :))) A cruel movie, especially for a new-baked mom.❤ 29:00 Yes, this was definitively better than "A Horse"! Thank you for another great reaction and happy cuddling with your tiny one 👶❤
If you want to see a really great role by Liam Neeson, watch "Les Miserable" (1998?). He stars as Val Jean, the best portrayal that I've seen. Uma Thurman is brilliant as Fantine and Geoffrey Rush as the bad guy.
It became a theme for a lot of his movies... someone took someone, he has extraordinary skills and gets all the guys involved. (ps. congrats on baby.. :) ) I think the next one is about gangsters who kidnap his poodle.
Ah! I haven't been catching your recent videos instantly, so I haven't hear any "announcements." CONGRATS on Alexander!! Best wishes for your parenthood!
The odd thing about this movie is that this kind of plot has been done a thousand times before but there's just SOMETHING that makes this different. I'm convinced it's the heart.
Congratulations on becoming a mum I'm sure you and your husband will be wonderful and loving parents plus I'm sure both sets of your parents are proud that you two added another addition to the families line of keeping both family lines alive, well and still expanding into future generations yet to come.
New mums gain a significant amount of IO post birth. Mary is going to out guess the plot twists even more. She already surprises me how cleaver she is.
Lenore is acting like that to get back at Bryan. Its ok with her because she KNOWS it'll drive Bryane insane. She's using her daughter to try and hurt him. She's evil risking her daughters safety that way 😠
Who on Earth would have Mary watch this movie as a new parent, haha?!
I think she picked it herself, not knowing what it was about.😆
Welcome to the internet
@@becausethemailneverstops9350She is good I think. The Harry potter stuff was a good base line.
Haha, yes I have only myself to blame 😂
😂🤣
That "very particular set of skills" line has to be one of the most badass things I've ever heard. Liam Neeson is such a legend.
Never mess with Neeson 🙄

I still think Seth McFarlane reading the monologue as Kermit the Frog did it better hehe
Mary's usual "nayyy" as the stepdad brought out a horse had me gigglin'
When Mary said, "Better than a horse" after he put a bullet in that guys head to save her in the final climatic scene, I fell out of my chair laughing 😂 Hilarious!
Amen.
That was a great line for sure 😅
“Better than a horse” needs to be on some merch. 😂😂😂
It's ironic that the occupation that broke up the family is the only reason he was able to save her. Congrats on the baby Mary, you'll make a fantastic mom!

Congratulations on the baby. I glad everything and everyone is healthy.

RIP Miriam Elizabeth Rodríguez Martínez
Ok false info here. She only pursued and informed authorities who arrested the men. But once they got out of prison she was shot to death.
This movie is like a heartfelt drama with action that makes sense. The sequels are much more like crazy action with drama tacked on. The sequels are entertaining enough, but you won't get the same feeling from them.
He gets to climb a fence in about 15 cuts.
the sequels aren't that great
Blame Megaton's editing. @@DeltaAssaultGaming

Good therapist joke, Mary. I actually laughed out loud.
Also congratulations on the new addition to your family!
Yay, first time Mom! What an amazing feeling that must be. Congratulations!
😂 @3:06
Mari- "Née"
Me- "Well actually "Neigh"." 😅
Wow kudos for watching this specific movie so soon after having a child. Glad it didn't break you completely, and that you enjoyed it! And of course congrats 🎉👶 🎉!
I wonder if democrats watch this and root for the traffickers 😰

Mary: "Nee..."

Congratulations on the baby, Mary! That small angel has such a sweet, great mom!

For a mega crime movie, I highly recommend "The Game" with Michael Douglas from 1997.
Liam Neeson's performance is everything here. The famous meme may be his speech into the phone after the abduction, but what elevates this film for me are the moments like the one at 10:44 (right before) when the very human terror reaches out and grabs you from behind the silent father's eyes.
"Better than a horse, isn't it?" 🤣🤣🤣
Best comment I've ever heard about this movie.
Mum's looking great!
That scene where he talks on the phone with the “good luck” dude, it’s one of the most iconic lines in cinematic history, it’s been re-enacted, referred to, and emulated in media ever since!
Liam takes care of another child in "Les Miserables" from 1998,please watch it🤩
Another one you should watch if you like this is "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington.
Always watch the original first, Man on Fire (1987) with Scott Glenn.
Thank you, Mary. You are absolutely glowing with motherhood. So happy for you. 🤗
At 28:53 "Better than the horse, isn't it?" That's the best way to describe this movie. 😂
Congratulations on the baby! 🍻
Mary, please consider watching "Presumed Innocent", courtroom crime drama with Harrison Ford. Welcome back, glad you are well.
Congratulations on your child, Mary, and thank you for sharing this reaction.
God bless you and baby Alexander and your whole family, Mary! Good health and happiness to you all!
Congrats on the baby!!! I wonder if this hits different pre baby/post baby of a story of kid being kidnapped.
Congratulations from Texas 👍🏻🇺🇸

Taken 2 and Taken 3 are good movies as well. Also The Equalizer , The Equalizer 2 and The Equalizer 3 are kind of similiar and very good.
Mary turning into an opera singer at a painful scene will never not make me laugh.
Congrats on the baby
Du lebst ja noch, wie geht es dir?
Oh sweetness… my heart totally went out to you when you added the “fade to grey.. pan out… turmoil in your eyes” 😂😂😂

from the few videos I have watched, you must be a vary caring and loving mother. god bless.
Congrats, so glad to hear everything went well. You mentioned that you always see Liam as the nice guy , I think you forgot Batman
Congratulations on the birth of your child. Thank you for your entertaining reactions.
Mary! Your best comment: "Better than a horse." Loved that. :)
It became a theme for a lot of his movies... someone took someone, he has extraordinary skills and gets all the guys involved. (ps. congrats on baby.. :) ) I think the next one is about gangsters who kidnap his poodle.
Congrats on the baby! I wish you all the best. I especially wish you all SLEEP! 😴💤 😁👍
The movie that kicked off the Liam Neeson action subgenre.
Oh, great movie for a new mom. 😂 Whoops. Congratulations on your new little one. Hope you're all healthy

Ah! I haven't been catching your recent videos instantly, so I haven't hear any "announcements." CONGRATS on Alexander!! Best wishes for your parenthood!
Congratulations, Mary. That's really fantastic.
Congratulations Mary
Congratulations!!! Welcome back.
My niece took trips like this when she was 17 and 18. People do this, but that kid has to be really well grounded and level headed, which she was.
The odd thing about this movie is that this kind of plot has been done a thousand times before but there's just SOMETHING that makes this different. I'm convinced it's the heart.
Awww im sorry this was the first movie after having your baby!! Im glad you liked it tho! Definitely have all the cuddles!!!❤
Jus wanted o say congratulations on he baby and I love your reactions.
Congratulations! 💐🍼👩🍼
I enjoyed the horse impressions when the horse was brought in at the birthday party.
It has been about 20 years since this film was released, and nowadays it has become a very classic one.
The best 90 minutes of action you will see. Great reaction to a great film! Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your BABY!!! 🙂
I wasn't expecting any less than a great reaction from you and i wasn't disappointed.
Glad the baby is obviously doing OK :D
♥
"Quelle merde?" - I'm improving my French!
Great reaction, it hits differently when you're a parent.
Congratulations on becoming a mum I'm sure you and your husband will be wonderful and loving parents plus I'm sure both sets of your parents are proud that you two added another addition to the families line of keeping both family lines alive, well and still expanding into future generations yet to come.

Great movie!! Maggie Grace's scream as she's pulled from underneath the bed gave me CHILLS in the theatre, and everytime since!! 😮
Lets goooo! :)
Lenore is acting like that to get back at Bryan. Its ok with her because she KNOWS it'll drive Bryane insane. She's using her daughter to try and hurt him.
She's evil risking her daughters safety that way 😠
What makes it scary is how realistic this scenario is.
Welcome back and CONGRATS!
Congrats on the new baby 👍
Glad to see you back. Congrats.
I almost never leave comments, but in this case I have to say congratulations and I’m glad you and the baby are well.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! SUPA MOMMA!!!!!!
“Better than a horse, isn’t it?” Epic quote 👏🏻 hahaha (CONGRATS on your newborn baby!)
