Parker, keep going. In all honesty, she just wasn't very likable. I don't want to sound mean, but you are the show. I have a feeling you will have a lot of sincere, appreciative women with actual personality hovering around you at the boat show. I think a lot of people feel the same as I do. Hang in there and don't give up your dreams. She will be an afterthought down the road. You will find that this was a blessing.

Girls always do this around 30 ish, they want to chuck everything good going for them and "find themselves" then they find themselves 40, sad, and alone full of regret.... oh well. Trust me your life is going to improve 10x.

Just because Katy wants to experience adult life off of a boat doesn't make her a bad person or a dream killer. Both have amazing futures ahead of them.

I had hoped that the break would bring you both back to the boat, but in my heart, I knew that something was going on and that Parker would return to the boat by himself. I thought and still do, that the two of you were a great match for each other but sometimes things don’t work out the way we want. Always felt he didn't give her enough to do. If he was going to make 90%+ of boat decisions and repairs, then he should have given her the bulk of narration responsibility.
So many people are giving her a hard time, but let’s give her credit for being mature about this. I think it’s great that she made this video instead of just walking away. Everyone knew it was coming, but I know it’s hard. Parker, we’re all looking forward to your new videos. She may love sailing, but you love sharing your passion with the world.

I can’t say that I am surprised by the news. Katie was not the same after visiting the yoga retreat. Something must have occurred there which changed the dynamics of the couple. To be honest, Parker’s ‘smooziness’ irritated me from the beginning, the “I loves you”s thick like icing on a cake, sweet but superficial, & I found Katie both intriguing and aloof, like she didn’t want to be there at times. I like how much respect you show each other, at least on camera. I don't think I was capable of that at your age, maybe even not now! But, I am surprised it took this long to tell us this though. I discovered your channel fairly recently and could see that the spark was going out for a while. Parker - as a guy who's about 20 years older than you and was in a relationship at your age that at least appeared to be VERY similar to yours, I think you will look back at this relationship and be very happy it's in the past. I don't believe the breakup was about sailing or any activity, that's never what it's about. It's rare for both partners to have the sailing bug to the same degree. My wife enjoys it, but is not obsessed like me. But now you know exactly what to look for and what to avoid in a woman. I will leave it at that. Hope to see you out on the blue someday. Life happens. We had to take a step back from our channel a year ago. We came back when life gave us the chance. Best wishes to you both in following both of you. She will definitely be missed but excited to see your upcoming videos as you pursue the sailing dream.

This took longer than I expected it to as the undercurrents of discontent were evident from the beginning. Despite the obvious heavy editing, there were plenty of moments in the videos you put out that hinted at a significant amount of immaturity and short tempered self-absorbed behavior on her part. The coddling and making excuses for annoying behavior unfortunately just prolongs the slow moving train wreck. Hopefully, your next serious relationship will be based on more mutual admiration/respect/love than a "what can he do for me" type of situation. Relationships that essentially amount to a "demander/jpleaser" couple hardly ever last. And usually for those that do manage to somehow persist despite the heated arguments and bitter dissappointment, the misery index just keeps climbing year after year.
This is actually the most insightful post that anyone has written on this channel. And good advice for all relationships. The liveaboard close-quarters situation in this case probably served to bring this one to an end faster. Which after a few months will seem for the best for both of them.
Kattie & Parker, we are all so confused over this episode. Truth be known, we had an opinion you were married already and were talking about raising a family together. How could this misconception, that our favorite Sailing Channel, be misconstrued so wrongly? We all loved Kattie's adaptability on Boundless and thought your combined strength, buddy boating with Zach was the start of a new chapter, where both would sail towards Hawaii and beyond in unison bliss. From Florida, the destructive path of Hurricane Helena has taken our home in Treasure Island. just speaking with my bride, who along with her sister Betty and Frank are in the process of picking up the pieces. I’ve watched since you entered the Erie Canal and there are about 100 episodes of shared happiness and excitement in those excellent videos. Yes, changes happen in any relationship over time I’m sure everyone would agree, but rarely are they videotaped in real time. I congratulate you both for never directing blame, you learned and grew together, the maturity is admirable. I for one will miss Katy’s playful wit and pretty smile.
Forcing one person to do something they don't really want to do will create resentment. It may not surface for years but it will be there. To finish on the terms you have agreed on is very rare and shows maturity that very very few people have. We are very blessed to share a little of your life but we are not entitled to know anything. Got to be one of the worst kept secrets or should I say the most long overdue public announcement that everyone else could see and knew about for probably a year and it's taken you both this long to get to this point. Well done! So what's next? You have both just bumbled through this video and didn't give your subscribers much at all. Yes, you made some comments or statements about what you might be doing, but there is nothing concrete. Best thing would be to just set sail and fix her up as you go. Right, 3 years of solo travelling during her prime years was the main indication. You're not beating this. Nobody is. This is not a new story, and this is why women with "experience", even if it's life experience, tend to be red flags. I'd really like to be wrong about this but it happens over and over again. It's going to be a problem for the next guy too, he'll have to compete with solo travelling, AND with living on a sailboat. Katie : I hope you find the wisdom that you need, more than whatever you think you want. Parker : Keep going for your dream, we're not going anywhere as long as you make content.
Having lived aboard and sailing to many different places, I get where you are coming from because this life style can bring about much time to think, ponder, search and question ones life choices.

Parker, you will tend to repeat this error. Fight the urge. You probably did her some good, but life is too short to waste on broken projects. Some boats are just rightly never getting out of the yard.

When 2 people break up, it isn't because 'they respect each other so much.' It's because one of them is moving on. Parker will be better off in a few months, if/when he allows himself to discover just how many attractive, smart women are out there who want to go cruising with guys who know what they are doing.

So many edits and very canned performance. He should be an instructor and her an actress. Would have been a much better episode if done separately, at least more honestly in two chapters without each other’s problem sitting next to them. Was clearly coming 5+ episodes ago. I was afraid her unhappiness was going to spread to one of my favorite couples on their last buddy boat.
There are too many awful comments. I just want to say that I know and love both of these people. I've personally had conversations with them both about this breakup. They both love each other and support each other. They are both mature enough to speak openly about their wants and needs in life. Here is what I know. This journey we have watched wouldn't have gotten this far without BOTH of them working hard and making sacrifices. Parker is one of the most brilliant humans I've ever met. He will continue on from here and have a wonderful life, and be successful in whatever he puts his mind to. This channel will thrive so long as he continues to work on it. just who he is. He doesn't half ass anything. Parker has a big loving heart and will continue to thrive in life. Katy is an intelligent person with a big heart of her own. Most will never understand what it's like to have OCD let alone share it publicly with others. Her choosing to try a different lifestyle for now doesn't mean she doesn't like sailing or doesn't love Parker. Living a majority of your daily life on a sailboat would be so difficult. Most relationships wouldn't last a week in such small quarters. I'm proud to know them both and call them both my friends. They both deserve all the happiness in the world.

Disappointed by some of the comments. People grow... and they don't always grow together. Parker is a good looking guy and he's nice as heck. He's going to have a hard time keeping women away. It'll be lonely for a minute. But find a tribe of youtubers and travel with them and just wait.... you will meet a princess like Kazza and have a new adventure traveling the seas! I will say one objectively critical thing I'd say is... Find your recipe. You have to stop filming yourself in random thoughts. One thing I liked about Katy is that she was kooky in entertaining ways. Stunningly beautiful and just quirky enough to keep you watching to see if she'd talk again. (you are always doing the talking... and filming yourself moving around) Study other successful channels and look at their process. They have recipes. The most successful channels don't just record themselves. They literally make a scripted TV Show every week. Project Atticus - they are a "Travel Channel" that happens to be on a sailboat. Well... not anymore. :-) SV Delos - they have a recipe where they don't just film themselves talking.. they have a plan for each video and they execute better than anyone. Their underwater videography is stunning. The Winns - Again.. a travel channel on a sailboat. They are entertainingly kooky. I'm bored of seeing their new boat.. i'm ready for them to travel again. Go back and look at previous videos. they take you on a travel adventure and explore new worlds. (New Zealand and China travel trips are amazing) La Vagabond - I'm starting to lose them. Mostly they are fun to watch and I enjoyed the guests they brought on board. I'm not really thrilled with their new boat. It's a bit excessive and I feel like it's way too much for them. Sailing GBU - When i started watching them.. I was only watching to see what screwed up stuff "Larry Laminato" (aka Matt) was going to do to his boat. I mean.. he was driving it around backwards because forwards gear was broken. But it turns out he is funny as hell and Kristen is the perfect wife for him. She is amazing and keeps him in line. And I think she does a great job setting up the script for their weekly show. The winners for best Videography: Cruisers Academy - Best stories and videography. Brady is a beautiful human. Love him! And Blue ... omg... she's got the voice of an angel for film. Sailing Yacht Florence - They just need to be sponsored by "The Travel Channel". They are #1 for Travel Script and Videography. Other good ones with good scripts... Sailing Zatara, Ran sailing, Making Our Way (sailing via) Sailing Uma (loved their early days. I'm in love with Dan's building skills)... disappointed they try to film themselves too much when they travel. They need to show more of their location. Not themselves. Parlay Revival... loved his rebuild. He's too cool for me. I can't watch because i'm an alcoholic and his show is a trigger for me. ;-) It's just a giant party boat. Anyway.. I'll stay away from saying too many bad things... there are a lot of bad sailing shows... but most of the time it's just that they haven't created a recipe and they ramble unnecessarily... or they don't have good tv voices... or it's a show about themselves. Open water crossings with a lot of talking is not fun to watch. you have to make a show out of it. (Delos does this better than anyone). expedition evans.. two beautiful people and they could be really entertaining if they would make a script for their shows and do some more travel telling. OMG.... such a ramble. Sorry about that. My point is... you are a really beautiful human being. You will be great. Just study the winning recipes and create a formula that works for you. Notice the camera work and the story telling. It takes a lot of thought. But the camera loves your face and you could make your channel into a winner with a little bit of work on the formula part. Good luck to you! If you ever need a deckhand.. I'll fly down in a heartbeat! I used to race sailboats on a lake... but never done any real open water sailing. I charter monohulls every couple of years in the BVI's. that's about it with the big boats.
I really like the Seawind channel. I don't know all the background, so I won't surmise. I did see a thing or two recently that was unusual, but that does not matter. Here is what is important. I'm very sorry you broke up. I'm very glad you broke up. Try doing it after years of marriage with children, and you tell me which is more difficult. That being said, both of you have shown maturity in being able to sit in the car together and make this video. Congrats to you both. Katie, you will figure it out. Just because Katy wants to experience adult life off of a boat doesn't make her a bad person or a dream killer. Both have amazing futures ahead of them.

Well I don't know about 'made for the streets,' but if you listen to all her yoga-babble you'll hear a steady undertone of "I, me, my, self, I, self." You hear it in this video too. Hard lesson to learn, hopefully learned this time: Don't put a baby princess on a pedestal.

I can’t say that I am surprised by the news. Katie was not the same after visiting the yoga retreat. Something must have occurred there which changed the dynamics of the couple.
To be honest, Parker’s ‘smooziness’ irritated me from the beginning, the “I loves you”s thick like icing on a cake, sweet but superficial, & I found Katie both intriguing and aloof, like she didn’t want to be there at times.

I like how much respect you show each other, at least on camera. I don't think I was capable of that at your age, maybe even not now! But, I am surprised it took this long to tell us this though. I discovered your channel fairly recently and could see that the spark was going out for a while. Parker - as a guy who's about 20 years older than you and was in a relationship at your age that at least appeared to be VERY similar to yours, I think you will look back at this relationship and be very happy it's in the past. I don't believe the breakup was about sailing or any activity, that's never what it's about. It's rare for both partners to have the sailing bug to the same degree. My wife enjoys it, but is not obsessed like me. But now you know exactly what to look for and what to avoid in a woman. I will leave it at that. Hope to see you out on the blue someday. Been there. Catching lightning in a bottle is fun and exhilarating, it makes your body energized, but lighting doesn’t build houses, it destroys them.
Life happens. We had to take a step back from our channel a year ago. We came back when life gave us the chance. Best wishes to you both in following both of you. She will definitely be missed but excited to see your upcoming videos as you pursue the sailing dream.

This took longer than I expected it to as the undercurrents of discontent were evident from the beginning. Despite the obvious heavy editing, there were plenty of moments in the videos you put out that hinted at a significant amount of immaturity and short tempered self-absorbed behavior on her part. The coddling and making excuses for annoying behavior unfortunately just prolongs the slow moving train wreck. Hopefully, your next serious relationship will be based on more mutual admiration/respect/love than a "what can he do for me" type of situation. Relationships that essentially amount to a "demander/jpleaser" couple hardly ever last. And usually for those that do manage to somehow persist despite the heated arguments and bitter dissappointment, the misery index just keeps climbing year after year.
This is actually the most insightful post that anyone has written on this channel. And good advice for all relationships. The liveaboard close-quarters situation in this case probably served to bring this one to an end faster. Which after a few months will seem for the best for both of them.

How could this misconception, that our favorite Sailing Channel, be misconstrued so wrongly? We all loved Kattie's adaptability on Boundless and thought your combined strength, buddy boating with Zach was the start of a new chapter, where both would sail towards Hawaii and beyond in unison bliss. From Florida, the destructive path of Hurricane Helena has taken our home in Treasure Island. just speaking with my bride, who along with her sister Betty and Frank are in the process of picking up the pieces. I’ve watched since you entered the Erie Canal and there are about 100 episodes of shared happiness and excitement in those excellent videos. Yes, changes happen in any relationship over time I’m sure everyone would agree, but rarely are they videotaped in real time. I congratulate you both for never directing blame, you learned and grew together, the maturity is admirable. I for one will miss Katy’s playful wit and pretty smile.
Forcing one person to do something they don't really want to do will create resentment. It may not surface for years but it will be there. To finish on the terms you have agreed on is very rare and shows maturity that very very few people have. We are very blessed to share a little of your life but we are not entitled to know anything. But I do understand that with the TH-cam weirdness people will ask questions they have no right to know. Good luck for you both..

Right, 3 years of solo travelling during her prime years was the main indication. You're not beating this. Nobody is. This is not a new story, and this is why women with "experience", even if it's life experience, tend to be red flags. I'd really like to be wrong about this but it happens over and over again. It's going to be a problem for the next guy too, he'll have to compete with solo travelling, AND with living on a sailboat.
Katie : I hope you find the wisdom that you need, more than whatever you think you want.
Parker : Keep going for your dream, we're not going anywhere as long as you make content.
Having lived aboard and sailing to many different places, I get where you are coming from because this life style can bring about much time to think, ponder, search and question ones life choices.

When 2 people break up, it isn't because 'they respect each other so much.' It's because one of them is moving on. There are too many awful comments. I just want to say that I know and love both of these people. I've personally had conversations with them both about this breakup. They both love each other and support each other. They are both mature enough to speak openly about their wants and needs in life. Here is what I know. This journey we have watched wouldn't have gotten this far without BOTH of them working hard and making sacrifices.
Parker is one of the most brilliant humans I've ever met. He will continue on from here and have a wonderful life, and be successful in whatever he puts his mind to. This channel will thrive so long as he continues to work on it. just who he is. He doesn't half ass anything. Parker has a big loving heart and will continue to thrive in life.
Katy is an intelligent person with a big heart of her own. Most will never understand what it's like to have OCD let alone share it publicly with others. Her choosing to try a different lifestyle for now doesn't mean she doesn't like sailing or doesn't love Parker.
Living a majority of your daily life on a sailboat would be so difficult. Most relationships wouldn't last a week in such small quarters. I'm proud to know them both and call them both my friends. They both deserve all the happiness in the world.

Disappointed by some of the comments. People grow... and they don't always grow together.

He's going to have a hard time keeping women away. It'll be lonely for a minute. But find a tribe of youtubers and travel with them and just wait.... you will meet a princess like Kazza and have a new adventure traveling the seas!
I will say one objectively critical thing I'd say is... Find your recipe. You have to stop filming yourself in random thoughts. One thing I liked about Katy is that she was kooky in entertaining ways. Stunningly beautiful and just quirky enough to keep you watching to see if she'd talk again. (you are always doing the talking... and filming yourself moving around)
Study other successful channels and look at their process. They have recipes. The most successful channels don't just record themselves. They literally make a scripted TV Show every week.
Project Atticus - they are a "Travel Channel" that happens to be on a sailboat. Well... not anymore. :-)
SV Delos - they have a recipe where they don't just film themselves talking.. they have a plan for each video and they execute better than anyone. Their underwater videography is stunning.
The Winns - Again.. a travel channel on a sailboat. They are entertainingly kooky. I'm bored of seeing their new boat.. i'm ready for them to travel again. Go back and look at previous videos. they take you on a travel adventure and explore new worlds. (New Zealand and China travel trips are amazing)
La Vagabond - I'm starting to lose them. Mostly they are fun to watch and I enjoyed the guests they brought on board. I'm not really thrilled with their new boat. It's a bit excessive and I feel like it's way too much for them.
Sailing GBU - When i started watching them.. I was only watching to see what screwed up stuff "Larry Laminato" (aka Matt) was going to do to his boat. I mean.. he was driving it around backwards because forwards gear was broken. But it turns out he is funny as hell and Kristen is the perfect wife for him. She is amazing and keeps him in line. And I think she does a great job setting up the script for their weekly show.
The winners for best Videography:
Cruisers Academy - Best stories and videography. Brady is a beautiful human. Love him! And Blue ... omg... she's got the voice of an angel for film.
Sailing Yacht Florence - They just need to be sponsored by "The Travel Channel". They are #1 for Travel Script and Videography.
Other good ones with good scripts... Sailing Zatara, Ran sailing, Making Our Way (sailing via)
Sailing Uma (loved their early days. I'm in love with Dan's building skills)... disappointed they try to film themselves too much when they travel. They need to show more of their location. Not themselves. Parlay Revival... loved his rebuild. He's too cool for me. I can't watch because i'm an alcoholic and his show is a trigger for me. ;-) It's just a giant party boat.
Anyway.. I'll stay away from saying too many bad things... there are a lot of bad sailing shows... but most of the time it's just that they haven't created a recipe and they ramble unnecessarily... or they don't have good tv voices... or it's a show about themselves. Open water crossings with a lot of talking is not fun to watch. you have to make a show out of it. (Delos does this better than anyone). expedition evans.. two beautiful people and they could be really entertaining if they would make a script for their shows and do some more travel telling.
OMG.... such a ramble. Sorry about that. My point is... you are a really beautiful human being. You will be great. Just study the winning recipes and create a formula that works for you. Notice the camera work and the story telling. It takes a lot of thought. But the camera loves your face and you could make your channel into a winner with a little bit of work on the formula part.

I really like the Seawind channel. I don't know all the background, so I won't surmise. I did see a thing or two recently that was unusual, but that does not matter. Here is what is important.
I'm very sorry you broke up. I'm very glad you broke up. Try doing it after years of marriage with children, and you tell me which is more difficult.
That being said, both of you have shown maturity in being able to sit in the car together and make this video. Congrats to you both. Katie, you will figure it out.
