I'm new to MTG, super great video, very informative. These decks are "under the radar", which typically means "budget friendly" thanks causeI need those
Last game I played with a similar setup to choice #1 (Ezio as the commander, also chock full of changelings), I activated World Tree's ability while Maskwood Nexus was on the board to summon every creature left in my deck :D
The Goose Mother is still my favorite weird little budget commander. You can put obscene amounts of tokens on it and it does just the dumbest things that the other folks don't expect. No one has ever pegged Honkiamat as a threat until it was already far too late.
Hey so here's the ruling on the card: “That much damage” refers to the number of +1/+1 counters removed from Ashling the Pilgrim. Since the counters are removed, it's likely that the damage will kill Ashling. Otherwise it would just deal 3 damage every time. It's definitely confusingly worded though...
@@MTGPax that isn't what I was correcting. In the video someone eluded to activating the ability once you had enough counters. You have to activate 3 times, regardless of the number of counters on the card. For instance, you can activate twice during every opponents turn and it will remove the counters and damage everything.
398, according to my scryfall search. That does include doctor's companions and signpost uncommons though. Here's the search I used - is:commander date:2023 game:paper not:reprint
I would argue that we don't really have 'sleeper' commanders anymore. We're not ignoring them, sleeping on them, or otherwise underestimating them.... we literally haven't had a chance to register that they actually exist in the first place (let alone have had time to actually build most of them). WOTC is pushing out so much product (and with so MANY new legendary creatures) that by the time we have a chance to mull over any of the new options... we're 3 sets down the road and there's ANOTHER 200 legendary creatures to consider.>
I have an ashling deck and I love it! Toralf, god of fury, scavenged brawler, Ill tempered loner, stuffy doll, and brash taunter do work in that deck.
One of my fave videos I love building these off the beaten path commanders
Kros is my favorite deck I have made. Fun to see someone else attempting the deck.
I've never been hit less than when playing this deck. Tolarian contempt goes HARD
Love the Ramses deck idea!

Thank you for the Kros shout out!! It was fun, but I took the deck apart and regret it- this makes me want to rebuild it!

For the assassin one, keep in mind you don’t even have to do damage. Just attack them. Even if they block, it still goes off
One of my personal favorites is the Rani she’s only got 330 decks very similar to the shield counter commander 😊
I had a Kros deck once.
IT WAS BUSTED.
AMAZING POLITICAL AND FUN.
Great recommendations! thank you!!
This was a great video, keep it up !
I love Ellivere but her buddy Gylwain is fire.
Kroxa got way cooler when he teamed up with Kunoros, and they still aren't that common 🙌
I have a kros deck that I built a while ago... I'll post the deck list if anybody's interested. It's fun to play and is sneaky good.
Im waiting for the post😁
ye please post it
Love my Obosh deck ❤ 🔥 it’s my “let’s get one more quick one in” deck.

Little correction for Ashling. It isn't the number of counters that matters for her ability to go off. It is the number of times THIS TURN it is used.

@@oatsen1618 Ahh ok sure, I guess Joel maybe made it sound that way but I don't know if that's what he thought it did.
Ashling + Basilisk Collar = best friends
Don got upgraded to Edward imo one mana more but more fun to do 😂
Greensleeve's "protection from planeswalkers and wizards" has to do with the precons made for DomUnited. Both were planeswalker commanders :)
Ellivere is def cool. ❤❤❤
Ashling is not fun to play against and you will be a target! Protection is a must! Just played against it last night.
How many legendary creatures were made this year?
Literally hundreds

Ashling the Pilgrim is one of my best and favorite decks, but feels like Child of Alara plus a wincon. You get the little voltron feel too.
BUDGET they say and then suggest doubling season (100usd)
Day 15 asking Joel to sing “got another thing comin’” at the beginning of each video like he did 00:51 in in the November 2023 state of magic video
