just a short coment, 2 years after, I just discovered your chanel. I grew up with the C64 and Amiga. Lethal Weapon was one of my favourite platform games and not too difficult. You can accually choose between the caracters (locker room). I played it out and was not as frustratingly difficult as many platformers on the amiga, like Lion king or Aladin.
If you've not seen the entire Plan 9 movie, do so. It's truly a spectacle. Watching it made me a fan of Ed Wood in general, and it's the movie that pretty much defined the idea of "so bad it's good".
The amazing thing about Robocop 3 was it came out about a year before the movie. If you're having Dune as being 'based on a movie', you should allow Alien Breed 92 special edition as an Alien game...
I have a Dune adventure style game on the PS2, had it for years but never really played it. I may load it up later to see if it is good. The RTS games on PC, PlayStation etc are good.
I don't know if it's the same Dune game!? Dune 1 was made by Cryo Soft...! I hope it is the same because you would have a great, great game than...! :)
Great list. I would add the first dune game to the list, but is a matter of taste. Dune is great and unique hybrid of adventure and strategy amazing at all levels (one of my fav amiga games) . I would put the Elvira games in the list but no so high. Tecnicaly amazing and Incredable in terms of ambience but the gameplay/interface are obscure. No automap, puzzles impossible without a faq. I would love to see a remake because the potencial is amazing. Also love the star wars games. Simple games with fined tune gameplay

I used to believe that the cult movie status of Plan 9 was something relatively new that came with the Internet era, it was a great surprise to find out that it got a game for the amiga.
Like mentioned below first Dune is very good and also the adventure game (there is arcade too, but not so good) Night Breed based on the horror movie. Great list anyway :)
Fantastic video ..... again ! So many good games on this list. First time I played Dune II , I was initially dissapointed of the changes from the first Dune , which I really enjoyed. But after the second mission I was hooked. Hard ! Lethal weapon is a fantastic and fun platformer , and so are the Disney games.

Ah man, what memories! I had all these games. I loved the amiga, so many really good games, personally my favourite was Cannon Fodder. I mentioned in your last video that I used a peripheral on the SNES called the super wild card to copy loads of super Nintendo games, well there was also a similar piece of software for the Amiga called X Copy Pro (I'm sure loads of Amiga owners remember it). It allowed you to copy virtually every Amiga game out there, again, we used the wallsend library's back room to get together and have copy parties. I remember Alien 3 on the SNES totally bossing the Amiga and megadrive versions. it had better graphics, atmosphere, music, sound effects, sound, samples, cut scenes, animation.....I lost my Amiga to an ex girlfriend hundreds of years ago and miss it. hey ho. btw, in terms of Amiga movie based games, do you remember Nightbreed? there were 2 games, and interactive movie version and an action version. both were utter pump. stay safe mate!

Lethal Weapon was an awesome underrated platform shooter, you could play as Murtaugh...it depended on what level you picked. I remember Riggs had a better melee attack while Murtaugh had more firepower. Batman would have been great if it didn't have the unplayable flying level...you can't even beat it with cheats on. Great vid anyway.
Yeah its copyright protected too now so the likes of Antstream (online game streaming platform) has had to remove the music from spy hunter on the arcade
I have that Dune game on the original PlayStation I did have a Windows PC version, It was made by Westwood studios the same studio that made the C&C games that I have always liked. Lucas Arts was a brilliant studio for click adventures..

Dune 2 killed my life back in the day loved it then and still do, class video buddy cheers :-) Also i can still recall Elvira from back in the day and not sure why ;-) :-p
First Dune is the one that follows the movie plot in its key elements. Mixes graphic adventure with strategy. The seed for Dune 2. I think it deserves first place instead of Dune 2 imho.
You say you can only play as Riggs on Lethal Weapon but the video shows you playing with Murtaugh . You can choose between then, they even have a small gameplay difference between them (With Riggs doing better kicks and Murtaugh starting with a better weapon) The Lion King on Amiga is missing 3 levels if I remember correctly, which is a damn lot (Game had to be rushed for a xmas release, the programmer had just 2 months to port it, he says the levels were coded but as he didn't have the time to properly test them he thought it would be safer to let them out) And Aladdin is not "par" with the Mega-Drive version at all. It has worse controls (without enough buttons on the controller), the music is worse (and lose instruments for sfx unlike the Mega-Drive version), the hud isn't on top of the main screen like the MD version, the graphics are way less colorful and uses a lot of dithering, again, unlike the MD version. Dune 2 was a good choice for the top spot. It was a friggin brilliant game and it basically created a genre. Now with games like The Spy who Loved me and The Blues Brothers on the list, you don't think Jurassic Park could have a spot there too? I also enjoyed Navy Seals a lot.
Planet 9 is not well known ? It's one of most famous movies of all time. That's like calling Flash Gordon little known. Tim Burton even made a entire movie about it (Ed Wood).
@Ratty Yes I can believe it :-) I get your point, but people also know La Gioconda (the Mona Lisa) and that thing will be 500 years old in 3 years. Everybody also knows the Lugosi version of Dracula (89 years old), Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz (both 81 years old), Casablanca (78 years old), Maltese Falcon (75 years old) and the first Godzilla (66 years old) and all of these movies are older than Plan 9. BTW, next year Star Wars will be 45 years old and Star Trek 55. That's hard to believe (or rather to swallow). Also Batman is still in pretty good shape for an 81 year old guy (also 1939). And the C64 also turns 40 in less than 2 years.

You know that Hastings was in 1066, that Columbus discovered the Americas in 1492, that the Titanic was a ship, that hydrogen zeppelins (especially if named Hindenburg) tend to go boom, that Dr J played for the Lakers, that Moscow is the capital of Russia, that the Yen is the currency of Japan, that "David" is by Michelangelo, that the Himalaya is in Nepal and that Ronald Reagan was not the father of Regan (the possessed girl from the Exorcist), while I wouldn't expect anybody to know that Monty Mole is from Gremlin and not eg Alligata or who Amaterasu or Quetzalcoatl are. Plan 9 is certainly more obscure than eg Godzilla, but there is no way around, that it's still pretty famous because it is so terrible (and no, it's not so bad that it's good, it's really bad bad, not good bad).
Great list m8, some really nice games here, usually movie based games ain't much cop in general. Yeah Robocp 3 was totally different to what I expected, great game. Indiana Jones looks great, you can't really go wrong with a Lucasarts adventure. Dune II, I played that for hours! totally addicive. "Yes sir! acknowledged!" was burned in my brain for days! The first Dune, the adventure game was great too, we've discussed this before though, did you ever get round to checking it out?
The games in places 4, 3, 2 and 1 are the only ones I'd have had my top 20 out of that lot. So many movie tie-ins in your list. The two Elvira games are the only ones that aren't!
Karate Kid II: yeah but do we get to do the Crane technique, which "no can defence" but obviously you can, and then do the Drum technique? I mean, these are the things we need to know lol
Interesting list. Dune II is a fantastic game but it really isn't based on the Lynch movie - it's more derived from the Dune books. So it's an odd choice for best game based on a movie. A good movie game should try to follow the plot of the movie whilst also being a decent game, so stuff like Indy, Aladdin and Batman are great choices 🙂

@@oldstylegaming Well I suppose you could argue that if the movie hadn't been made then the first game wouldn't have been made and therefore nor would the sequel. But if you watch the film (which I don't recommend!) the plot bears little resemblance (I mean the game doesn't really have a plot does it?) and it also would have been 8 years old by the time Dune II came out which is not really a tie-in. But hey, it's a great game anyway! :)
Rolling Thunder! I'm not sure that it's based on that old movie... but the game is amazing! It's very dynamic and beats "Lethal weapon" easily by gfx and the gameplay! I don't like "Elvira"... Maybe because I don't understand any of such games on Amiga no matter how good they were in the frames of this genre.
@@oldstylegaming I did try Winae (is that what it's called) previously. Tried to beat xenon 2 mega blast finally. I wasnt doing so well with getting the keys/joyoad to work. I have ps2. Ps3. Ps4 xbone controllers etc so it made me think maybe I just need an actual Amiga. I'm reading up on what version is the right one to get and what revision or upgrades really help. Welcome views.

Dune II on the Megadrive/Genesis is an awesome RTS and it's really something that Virgin managed to make a RTS on a 16-bit console, let alone a great one, the game has so much of a following there are hacks with fanmade maps and campaigns, which only cranks the replay value even higher. personally while other ppl watched Elvira to ogle her... assets... i was all for the story back in the day, not like i didnt have a thing for girls mind you, i was enchanted more on the magical aspect than Elvira herself, sadly how that movie goes underappreciated by most ppl.
@@timoheinonen9570 stop me if i'm wrong, the Spectrum is another computer style console, right? putting Dune II on a computer based console would be far easier than putting it on a console that's not PC based. for the reason of peripherals mostly, as the Megadrive did not have a mouse nor a keyboard, so there is some limitations there. hence why you rarely ever see an RTS game on a console, because of limitations and peripheral incompatabilities.
@@UltimateGamerCC ZX Spectrum is an old 8-bit computer and while it has keyboard and mouse Dune II should not really require either of those. Gamepad with 1 button should be enough for Dune II and because of that it should work pretty well on consoles. Dune II was great game at the time but today you want simple things like selecting more than one unit at the time and give orders to groups, as it is major pain in the ass to select every unit invidually to assign order to attack enemy base.
Clearly Mandela effect happening here. I remember being able to choose characters on Amiga Lethal Weapon. Riggs had more bullets and harder melee attack and Murtaugh had stronger gun with less bullets and weaker melee.

Hi. In Lethal Weapon to play as Murtaugh in the mission select go to the locker room. That is where you switch characters.

Interesting list. Dune II is a fantastic game but it really isn't based on the Lynch movie - it's more derived from the Dune books. So it's an odd choice for best game based on a movie. A good movie game should try to follow the plot of the movie whilst also being a decent game, so stuff like Indy, Aladdin and Batman are great choices 🙂

@@oldstylegaming Well I suppose you could argue that if the movie hadn't been made then the first game wouldn't have been made and therefore nor would the sequel. But if you watch the film (which I don't recommend!) the plot bears little resemblance (I mean the game doesn't really have a plot does it?) and it also would have been 8 years old by the time Dune II came out which is not really a tie-in. But hey, it's a great game anyway! :)
Rolling Thunder! I'm not sure that it's based on that old movie... but the game is amazing! It's very dynamic and beats "Lethal weapon" easily by gfx and the gameplay!
I don't like "Elvira"... Maybe because I don't understand any of such games on Amiga no matter how good they were in the frames of this genre.

@@oldstylegaming I did try Winae (is that what it's called) previously. Tried to beat xenon 2 mega blast finally. I wasnt doing so well with getting the keys/joyoad to work. I have ps2. Ps3. Ps4 xbone controllers etc so it made me think maybe I just need an actual Amiga. I'm reading up on what version is the right one to get and what revision or upgrades really help. Welcome views.

Well you have dune 2 on this list, but you really should have had Dune her as well. Dune was one of the best games i ever played on the amiga.
Dune II and Elvira were excellent games of the time.
Dune II on the Megadrive/Genesis is an awesome RTS and it's really something that Virgin managed to make a RTS on a 16-bit console, let alone a great one, the game has so much of a following there are hacks with fanmade maps and campaigns, which only cranks the replay value even higher.
personally while other ppl watched Elvira to ogle her... assets... i was all for the story back in the day, not like i didnt have a thing for girls mind you, i was enchanted more on the magical aspect than Elvira herself, sadly how that movie goes underappreciated by most ppl.
If Dune 2 can be ported to ZX Spectrum, then making version for 16-bit consoles should be easy.

putting Dune II on a computer based console would be far easier than putting it on a console that's not PC based.
for the reason of peripherals mostly, as the Megadrive did not have a mouse nor a keyboard, so there is some limitations there.
hence why you rarely ever see an RTS game on a console, because of limitations and peripheral incompatabilities.
@@UltimateGamerCC ZX Spectrum is an old 8-bit computer and while it has keyboard and mouse Dune II should not really require either of those. Gamepad with 1 button should be enough for Dune II and because of that it should work pretty well on consoles. Dune II was great game at the time but today you want simple things like selecting more than one unit at the time and give orders to groups, as it is major pain in the ass to select every unit invidually to assign order to attack enemy base.
Clearly Mandela effect happening here. I remember being able to choose characters on Amiga Lethal Weapon. Riggs had more bullets and harder melee attack and Murtaugh had stronger gun with less bullets and weaker melee.

That's true...and on that note I'm doing the 20 worst list now and for me Roger rabbit nearly made it into that ...but it's all completely subjective

I didn't mind the first Addams Family movie, but the sequels were just meh to me. That game is awesome though.
