I've been searching for this effect name for hours and I never would have thought the video where I finally found it would be about a Carcosa music video ! Vanta Black is a hell of a song
I actually wanted to edit my drum videos due to somes heavily edited music videos so it's amazing to have a metal video film-maker doing these !

How do u target the shadows

You can use Lightness or Luminance and set the threshold accordingly. However, it typically doesn't work well to target shadows because they have way less detail and information to work with, so you get a much more subtle effect that's not nearly as noticeable.

Im having the same problem. It opens up Premiere Pro instead of after effects whenever I click to instal the plugin. Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong?

It's a manual installation, you just copy the .aex file to After Effects "plugin folder"

How should i use it on text?

Hmm, you’ll probably have a hard time because it’s usually a single color, so the effect would be either on or off without anything in between. You can either make the text multiple colors/shades so the effect isn’t such an all or nothing thing, or you can just have it change to a gradient right when you want the glitch effect to happen. For example: you can have text that’s white, then the moment you need it to glitch change it to like a black and white gradient.
