Good to know. I actually talked on the phone tonight with a salesman who mentioned nitrogen in the tires and a bunch more stuff that I never heard of. I already felt he was taking advantage of me. I asked him for the "out the door price" of a car they had online with no additional add ons, he again started saying about all these these add ons. I reiterated and said, "no, the car exactly as priced with the taxes and destination fee". He still went on about add ons. He wanted me to come in, and they didn't even have the car to test drive. I said. " why do I need to come in if the cars won't be here for 30 days?" He said, "to see what options you want" I said again, "I don't want anything more than what's listed on the car that's on your website that's on its way to your dealer in 30 days" He again said he couldn't get me a price. Anyway, I'm not doing business with them over it. I'll drive 100 miles to get an honest dealer
Spot on. Went to the dealership today & all those fees were lumped into one price. Realize that 30k these days cannot buy a car. Dealerships want you to believe that 30k is chump change. They told me all those addons were already done & there was nothing we could do about it. Needless to say we walked.

Email every dealer in your area (ideally email the sales manager) and state your intention to place an order for Corvette at MSRP. Once you have a proper quote from a dealer, you can use that as a negotiating tool with other dealers until you find one that is willing to sell at MSRP. There should be very few fees in the quote other than delivery/freight, sales tax, and licensing/title costs. There is no need to visit a dealer to do this process. Could you talk about paint protection - as far as I can tell this just means the dealer washes and polishes the car. It's certainly something that I've seen offered by dealers in Australia and the UK as an add-on after the deal has been done. To me it begs the question why isn't the paint already good enough? Why does it need this add-on? It feels totally like a scam and it's been around for decades.
2,495 Protection package is mandatory at our local dealership. Non negotiable on all new cars. Window tint, door guard sticker, nitrogen lol, interior protection, exterior dealer installed swirls on the outside.
Totally hear you about wheel locks… however, as someone who has had all 4 wheels stolen from my Honda Fit while parked at my train station (they apparently fit a Civic), I’m thinking the $85 fee for wheel locks from Lexus may be worth it for my sanity on a $60k RX.
That's fine, but you can buy them elsewhere MUCH cheaper and experienced criminals use the same method as a mechanic/tire shop would for ppl that lose their wheel lock key
Very informative. In our case, we had no chance to review these fees after signing everything, it was then the time we had the chance to see everything they charged us. Shipping oil is even included, i dont even know what is that and the cost is 3000 dollars. Even the platinum pac? What is that? Its 6200 dollars. I bought my car in mazda by the way. I hope someone can advice me on these
Hi should one be paying for Freight/PDI fee for the service vehicle, i.e. under use by the dealership and have already miles on it. It really feels unfair if these changes will apply to such vehicles. Please advise. Appreciate the help.
I had to chukkle somewhat on not getting the protection insurance for a key fob, stating it will most likely never be used. I have owned and insured vehicles for 58 plus tear and paid auto insurance. I have never filed a claim, so did I need it? Unfortunately, it is law in all states. MOW THAT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY. 🤔😁
Any fee, other than the acquisition fee, which is included in the taxable amount is a FAKE fee and should not be paid. You can ask the dealer to remove the fees and you can walk if the dealer is not to your satisfaction.
#11 state taxes, why would you pay for state sales tax when in fact the first party already did in their respective state when they first bought the vehicle in the first place. Every time you resell it your paying addition taxes seems to be double or even triple dipping.
Gap insurance is a must have in Charlotte NC where car accidents/thefts happen frequently almost everyday. I bought my mustang back in 2020 6 months later a erratic reckless driver crashed into my car & totaled it completely.
Most car buying experts advise negotiating the total car price before discussing payment plan options with the dealership… the problem I see with that is that the dealer can just add some of these stupid hidden fees to the deal later on to try and recoup some of the money you’ve already negotiated off the price. Then you have to negotiate again to have the fees removed, or worst case scenario, you may end up paying more because you didn’t see the fees or didn’t know they weren’t mandatory. That’s why I think that if you know you are financing, and know the interest rate they offer, is best to negotiate the monthly or biweekly payment on a fixed term and fixed down payment, this way you know all is already included. What do you think?
Tell me, when the dealership put gap insurance on the sales paper, isn't it right to put, who you have the gap insurance through. How will I know who to contact?
Why did you buy GAP coverage (it is not insurance) from a dealer? You can get such coverage from many insurance companies for a fraction of what the dealer charges. For most people, GAP is a waste of money and the likelihood of a car being totaled is low, low, low
Great vIdeo with good advice. I’ve been searching for a site that offers this type of info for Ontario car buyers. I will be in the market soon to purchase a new car once I retire and this info will be very helpful. Could u please tell me how do I withdraw my $500 deposit for Kia sportage PHEV from dealer. Because after watching your video I have to do more research and window shopping, I am first time buyer
How did you pay for your deposit?? If you used a credit card you can go back and ask for a refund. If they ask why, you can say you changed your mind. If they refuse, you can call and dispute with the credit card representative.
My friend ordered Elantra 2023 and they have added all of these and explained all these fees after signing the contract , can anyone help how to legally withdraw from those without losing the deposit he paid?
Unless he can prove fraud, the contract being signed is the legal document. If the contract has been signed he agreed to the added fees and the deposit was part of the contract. Unless the terms specified return of the deposit upon contract finalization.
A car depreciates a lot of value as soon as you drive it home. It's stupid not to get the gap insurance. You owe the price of the new car, but could total it a short later and the insurance company will only pay the depreciated value, you're stuck still paying the rest off, but have no car. I've seen this happen to people.
How do you trade in a car when it is upside down. owing, more than what the suv is worth. The blue book says 31.000 And the financial company says 35.000. I got screwed by signing for someone. Now, I need to trade it in and put money down to get a lower payment. If I let it go back I will owe them money and I will have to borrow it. Is it better to trade it in and get a lower payment on another car? I have to move and get a house with a bedroom and bath downstairs for my son. He has two arteries in his head leading to his brain. And I have no help for medical help, paying the doctors Or buying the medication. I am a 100% Disable Veteran. I am having trouble And running out of time. Please tell me what I can do. If I owned a restaurant I would send a menu to a large dealership with unbelievable prices, of course I wouldn’t include the preparation fees, the fee to write up the order, and we have to charge a destination fee and it wouldn’t be right not to charge for salt, pepper and ketchup,😂
Gap Insurance section is not helpful. The way to not need gap insurance is by putting more money down. Changing the finance years don't make any difference if the car gets totaled in a year. If you can't put money down you need gap.
Good video, and some interesting information, but I too had a problem with you turning your head from side to side all the time. I had to cut the video short as it got so irritating.
Great video. In your experience would the dealer refuse to sell the car to you if you asked for fees to be removed? I’m in the process of buying a new vehicle and I don’t want the dealer to say “I won’t sell you the car unless you pay these fees”
They might initially refuse but I would walk away anyway. They don't want to lose a sale so there is a high likelihood they will contact you later and do the deal.
Seriously? Rust proofing is still around? New cars are treated at the factory for rust. In my life, over 40 vehicles, the only vehicle I ever had which rusted was the one vehicle I added rust proofing (in New England).
He kind of should not have even mentioned the gap insurance because eventho we may think its unecc u cant get the vehicle without it n he skipped right over that part by suggesting getting the loan for a shorter time n did not say but u will still have to get the gap
In the real world what you are saying does not work with these arrogant dealers. They just tell you that they can't remove it , basically saying "take it or leave it " . I just bought a new 2024 Toyota basic Corolla with no extras except what is standard like air conditioning and power windows . The car is still in production and the dealer has included a whole list of worthless options to be installed when I pick up the car even though I said I don't want them at a cost of $677. including things like first aid kit , Weatherguard plastic floor guards, we like carpet mats and don't like the plastic ones. Everything is still on my order sheet. They don't care ! I am going to call Toyota Corporate customer service but don't feel confident they will help.
No. In fact you will likely pay a higher price if the dealer know you are paying cash. The reason is dealers know they stand a better chance to earn profit in the F&I office when the customer financed through them.
the one thing I disagree w/ him on is the wheel locks. I had the tires on my accord sport stolen before. cars get wheels stolen all the time esp hondas and toyotas. I got gorilla wheel locks on amazon and asked a local car shop to install them tho and it costed me around 60 bucks. since then my car has been safe.
I live in South Florida where crime is rampant. I have only heard of rims/tires being stolen ONCE in the last 30 years. It takes wayyyyyyyyyy too much time and noise to steal tires when you can steal the entire car in bout 30 seconds. Unfortunately Amna, you were an ultra rare occurrence.

The Florida “dealers fee” of $1,000 is a complete rip off. They are getting MSRP and gouge you for a BS fee!
Trying to buy a new car at Toyota dealership and they do not remove the doc fee as cars are on high demand. Is there any good way to pursuade them?
Leave the fee; have them lower the price of vehicle the same amount of the fee they do not want to remove.
I’ve found getting up and walking out works every time
Could u please tell me how do I withdraw my $500 deposit for Kia sportage PHEV from dealer. Because after watching your video I have to do more research and window shopping, I am first time buyer
How did you pay for your deposit?? If you used a credit card you can go back and ask for a refund. If they ask why, you can say you changed your mind. If they refuse, you can call and dispute with the credit card representative.
@@gailenrique2804 thanks alot
Gonna play this video when they come back from getting me water or some other shit 😂😂
i made a complaint with the state dept. of licensing and got a refund of the 500.00 plus the sales tax.
Hi Shari. How can I contact you regarding buying am Suv
I'm available for phone consultations through www.carhelpcanada.com
A car depreciates a lot of value as soon as you drive it home. It's stupid not to get the gap insurance. You owe the price of the new car, but could total it a short later and the insurance company will only pay the depreciated value, you're stuck still paying the rest off, but have no car. I've seen this happen to people.
I think what he saying is get the gap from your insurance not the dealership. Duh
I am really afraid.
Atmosphere is made up of 78+ percent nitrogen, 20.9 percent oxygen, and minor amount of argon, and a little CO2. Don't ever pay for that.
Just thought that fees are taxable and mandatory fees/taxes are not taxable.
Hudson Honda try to add $3000 PDSI to sale contract on 2016 Honda
Great video. In your experience would the dealer refuse to sell the car to you if you asked for fees to be removed? I’m in the process of buying a new vehicle and I don’t want the dealer to say “I won’t sell you the car unless you pay these fees”
They might initially refuse but I would walk away anyway. They don't want to lose a sale so there is a high likelihood they will contact you later and do the deal.
There are plenty of more dealership, with the same vehicle.
If they refuse to sell it to you, you REFUSE to buy it from them !
I will NEVER pay the dealer markup over MSRP. NEVER.
Give us an example if you can sir.
What about rust proofing is that necessary
Probably not. The car booklet said not to get rust proofing, yet the dealer still tried to sell it to me.
Can we still get all of those fees taken off if we are going to be paying cash for the car?
No. In fact you will likely pay a higher price if the dealer know you are paying cash. The reason is dealers know they stand a better chance to earn profit in the F&I office when the customer financed through them.
All traps be careful folks
the one thing I disagree w/ him on is the wheel locks.
Where I live (NY) it’s not as rare as you think, and Hondas & Toyotas are targets.
@@HomesteadOnThePreserve lol maybe wherever you live it was a rare occurrence but it happens in my city (in the us) all the time. There are news segments about it and you’ll see cars on bricks as you drive by. And I don’t even live in a bad neighborhood.
@@amna6024 O wow, sorry to hear that. Well, the good news is it's best to have your wheels stolen then the entire vehicle!
What is a non tax fees?
When talking about buying new cars it's Canadian law being broken NOT U.S LAW.
What about a 3 for 1 fee?
Thats y u ask out the door price
