  • What is the Most Reliable BMW 5 Series You Can Buy? 5 Reliable BMWs
There are a ton of reliable BMW cars out there in the market today, but it's hard to know exactly which ones to go out and buy. This is especially true in the use car market for BMWs. When looking for the most reliable BMW 5 series car, there are a few things to consider. I go through my top 5 list of BMW Series 5 cars that are reliable, available on the market, and ready for you to purchase.
Here are my top 5 reliable $5Series #BMW cars:
    - 2010 - 2011 BMW F10 528i
    - e39 525i
    - e34 515 IX
    - e39 540i
    - 2007 E60 528i
There you have it. All of those 5 series BMWs answer the question as to whether or not BMWs are reliable or not. In the case of those 5 cars, and sometimes the years matter (so watch the video), BMW is very reliable.

Armand D Perera I have a 94 530i manual that is doing service as a mule for it's longtime current indestructible engine.
Seriously, it's a Frankenstein of their V8 family 3.0, 4.0, & 4.4 mis-matched junkyard parts. Was slammed together with some new gaskets here and there, on a pallet with a tube of RTV... on a dirt floor 7 years ago by my brother, who couldnt blow it up.
9300+ rpm the valves float. I've done It too many times.
It won't break. Been driving these cars and many other manufacturers for 30 yrs.
Never have I scene a more durable engine. Yes, the junkyard Frankenstein BMW V8 engine that sounds like a crotch rocket.

@@diopsidem5 has to be. Vanos version.... the non vanos r more "rare" as they were only the early model e34s in between the M2p cars and the updated m50 car which all had vanos. 1992-1996 definelty all had vanos M50s

I own a 1995 540i 6 speed, 2001 540it sport wagon, 2001 740i msport and a 2002 4.6is X5. BMW has fallen from reliability grace since these cars were made. I love all my cars. They do require attention to bring them back to factory correct, but parts are cheap and fixing them is cheap if you're willing to wrench for yourself. Everything you need to know about owning them is easy to find. A medium wrencher can do their own chain guide jobs in the vanos v8s. With that, my e34 540i 6 is the best most rock solid car I've ever had.

Thanks for your video. I have a 2008 528i with just 57k miles on it. Recently, as preventive maintenance I got replace the Water Pump (Pierburg) and the Thermostat (Behr-Hella) and I love it! N52 probably is not the most MPG-friendly but definitely won't suffer carbon build up because they are NOT direct injection. I'd rather spend some more in gas at the pump and not more and the shop for carbon build up. Just to share my experience, recently my cooling fan failed Orange message on iDrive - Engine Hot followed by Red Message - Turn off engine. I got replace my cooling fan (300USD for the part plus + 150USD labor) and problem solved!
Perfect engine, smooth driving, full confort.
Keep up the good work man and thanks for your videos!

Love your channel, would you say that the 2012 to 2017 528 has many issues or an average amount of issues. Seems to be a very common engine for bmw and parts seem reasonable at rockauto. Other than a plastic water pump and leaky valve cover gasket and oil filter housing are there issues with the vanos or internal parts of the engines. Is the automatic transmission ok? Is the car hard to work on for a DIY. Greatly appreciate your information. Best regards.

E39 are bulletproof if you do some preventive maintenance. Do a cooling system overhaul once it hits 100k and you'll have the car for many years. I have a 03 540 m sport, previous owner did cooling overhaul and timing chain guides before I purchased it at 105k. Had it for 5 years now and nothing gone wrong so far (except window regulators lol, which is a diy). Over 200k. Hard to let go of it cause it just never dies and still looks good and fun to drive.

Hi, I really like your videos. I don't understand English very well but I put subtitles and do the translation. I am thinking of buying an e60 2006 330xi with manual gearbox. What can you tell me about this car? will it be reliable?

Hope not to steer you wrong but the current single turbo 6 cylinder B58 engine has been better than most other engines as of late.

The e39 530d with the M57 motor is the most reliable BMW period. with the car and the engine winning the best Car in the world and the best motor design respectively a feat that BMW didn’t managed to repeat, the M57 also saved Range Rover and was used extensively under BMW ownership, but must be rear in the USA ;-)

I'm agree with you because I own a 2002 530d 193Hp. The M57 engine is a beast, mine has 319.000 Kms, It runs strong, no leaks, no drinking oil at all, even It has original turbo, water pump and thermostast from factory yet!

Re the E34 525iX. The M50 engine had DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder and Vanos. Not a single cam as stated. The M20 predecessor had a single cam and no Vanos.

Any reason why you went with the e39 525i specifically, and not the 528 or 530i? Thanks.

Got a 1988 E34 520i that might turn into a 535i now that the chassie is gone over and rustfri, think I'll get a E39 5- 23/25/28 as a wintercar, want a manuel but more automatics for sale. What years and engines is it that has those less reliable GM gearboxes? Want to stay away from those

BMW V8 engines got better from 2014 and later. Oil leaks were addressed, which was notorious on the V8s.

535d e60 is reliable as well, of course many parts will cost you more than 530d, but its definatly worth it.
Nice car, have it for three years now
540i was crap. Owned it for half year, but maybe I was unluckey with it. That day when I sold it, was one of my happiest days:D

My man.... you know what's up. Have you have other bmw before getting an e34?? I have had other ones, and the second I got my e34, I fell in love sporty enough to have plenty of fun, reliable. And it really is built like a tank. Not to mention plenty of room for friends and road trips. I got heated seats. Manual trans, limited slip diff. I cant ask for a better car honestly. #34FORLIFE

Years ago I saw a 1997 E39 540i 6 speed, I wanted that car SOO bad but I was stuck financing my Mazda Protege 5 then. I regret not getting it.
I also was discouraged from getting it because it's a BMW lol.

    Mark,
What do you think about buying a 2013 BMW 528ix 4cyl, turbo, with approx. 70K miles on it, if it checks out at the PPI ? Thanks.

But I guess I should still be wary, because as you mentioned in various videos, beware, of turbos, fancy transmissions, traction control and complicated electronics in the later models that can fail. Correct ? Thanks.

Good video my FriendMy biggest dream ever is to own a mint E39 528i and even the E39 540i as Ive heard from numerous owners that they are the best. Your Video is once again top-notch. I just love your previews!!!!!!! Now due to previous personal set-backs we have very limited cash flow which resulted in us driving the cheapest vehicle currently (Hyundai Getz 1.3 European spec). I know this is no Dr Phil show where we talk about our personal s%itt but anyway. I want to own anyone of the these models (E38 740, E39 528i or even E39 540i) (Manual or even Auto) WE NEVER GIVE UP ON ANY DREAM..........................

I am 43 years old I loved my e28 and my e30. Now I can't find any. I have moved on to a 2000 e39 528iA. It's PERFECT for my 6'3" 220 pound body. It still feels comfortable like my e28 was! I love the car...the world just makes more sense when I am behind the wheel of my BMW.

For sure, when its right, its right. These are great cars and should not be ignored. There are less and less enthusiasts these days and more people that see a car like an Iphone or blender and therefore they buy a Prius just to get it done. Cheers.
