Have you at all gone down the rabbit hole of who owns these types of companies??? You gotta be out of your mind if you think I'd give my DNA to these people 😂😂😂
Imagine the performance boost it could have if it goes above 15W. I have a laptop with 5700u and 3050ti and on demanding titles, the cpu runs at 40W. Pretty cool and quiet too for a laptop (around 70-80 C), considering it's a U variant which is for power efficiency.
Oh, I meant that these temps are at full load, everything 100%. Is it not that normal? I've seen gaming laptops go beyond that range when gaming. I'm from a tropical country btw. We have room temps of around 26-27°C and can go up to 30°C in summer
Think the most limiting factor is the cooling you have to slap so much stuff into it while still trying to keep it small I don't think you could put the higher quality stuff into it quite yet. Still impressive for what it does.. hopefully its not after we get full immersion gaming.
This is a nifty looking thing, but not sure about crowd funding an already old 5800u system when Amazon has a Beelink mini form factor system with a 7735hs in it (which means it’d have a 680m instead of a Vega 8) for just a little more, and it’d get here tomorrow. Yeah, this thing is a little smaller. Yeah it has the screen on the front. But really hard to spend over $400 on a system that has a 5000 series Ryzen in it in August of 2023.
I spent the equivalent of 770$ on a laptop with the 5800u. I could not for the life of me find one of the good Ryzen 7000 series, in my budget the only Ryzen 7000 CPU I could get was a 7520u. (Yes I know that's horribly overpriced, yay for huge amounts of taxes on electronics where I am)
I'd say if anything this would be a great buy for either a teenager or someone that's just looking for a barebones setup to get by until they can set aside enough money for a regular desktop that they can upgrade later on.
I was ultra interested until you said it has a zen 3 processor. I love zen 3, I run a 5600x in my PC, but they’re 3 years old at this point. It’s a great little APU but an APU from 2020.
good price? this is not good price at all when you can have a MUCH more superior zen 4 based handheld WITH A SCREEN and controls for 699. zen 4 mini pcs like this start at 549 soon as well, this would have been much more competitive at 349usd
please revisit some older APUs like the Ryzen 3 4300G. as over the 2 years driver updates have made them better and also able to support much faster RAM sometimes more than 4000mhz.. I still believe in AM4
There is not enough space to have a GPU in those small things, or if there is, I don't think it would get cooled that well. The Ryzen 7 7840u has performance similar to a 1650 (At least the mobile version) in it if I am correct though, and those are pretty much the best integrated graphics out right now.
I do actually wonder how it would feel running RyzenAdjust or similar. I used it on an old 2500U laptop and saw some improvements (though definitely got hotter). My new 6800U laptop is splendid. I really cannot wait to see that level of hardware start showing up in these at lower price levels.
The fact that this little system has a readout on it, with all the extra schitt that makes up a computer. Makes me wonder why full sized motherboards only have stupid little diagnostic leds that blink at you, rather than a full micro display...
The APU surely must be throttling since it was made for a laptop. Since those take in mind the possibility that you may use it while in your lap the temperature headroom is much lower than in desktops
I think you were accidentally teleported to Backwards World. Laptop components are notoriously known for running MUCH hotter than desktop variants safely. For example, my 3060 laptop edition is considered perfectly fine to run at 80-90 degrees. Either that or I’m dumb and read this wrong
@@BillyOrBobbyOrSomething It is common that laptop motherboards also take part in the slowing down of the device as far as I know. It also depends on the kind of device. Rather slim or less gaming oriented laptops do try to keep temps around the 60° C mark, but gaming laptops care more about performance so I can see those boosting higher (like the H lineup of chips from both intel and amd), which is also why their battery lasts less on part with having their dedicated GPU chip. So yeah, it’s kinda up to the manufacturer and both scenarios are possible.

I hate the power limit 15W on my U series, I tried throttlestop and made it run on max boost all time it felt much different for the performance but the temp goes 75-92c° and hits thermal throttle at 94c°. It went okay but when I play games with dedicated GPU and Radeon 530, here is the surprise, the cpu goes 90°c minimum all time and did BSOD one time, because the stupid manudacturer made a 1 single heatsink connecting cpu and gpu to a single poor fan. 7:01 I have a 5800u laptop. Seen it boost to 30 watts but it doesn't keep it there. It may momentarily go to 30, hang at 25 for a bit, then 22, and then just slowly ramps back down to 15. Edit: It's not exactly temperatures, mine too stay fairly low, but even when it draws the 25 or so watts it does, it only gets up to around 80 degrees.
