Born in 1992, Johannes Skoog began playing the organ at the age of 8 after having studied piano since the age of 5. Native of Stockholm, he is a graduate from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (Kungliga Musikhögskolan) where he studied organ interpretation with Mathias Kjellgren and improvisation with Nils Larsson. Johannes continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris) in the organ class of Olivier Latry and Michel Bouvard. He also studied organ interpretation with Louis Robilliard and organ improvisation with Laszlo Fassang and Thierry Escaich. In the summer of 2017, he became the only student ever to receive the highest grade in organ interpretation (mention très bien à l’unanimité avec félicitations du jury), both years of the master’s program at the Paris Conservatory.
Fantastic performance. I always feel when I watch any organist play at St.Sulpice, that I don’t know whether to concentrate on observing their performance or the intense support given them by Daniel Roth, who doesn’t appear to miss a trick.
Johannes is as cool as they come as he's performing. He has probably practiced these pieces so many times that he almost has them memorized. That certainly builds your confidence. Watch as he is playing - he's all over the keyboards, knows exactly where to go to play the next chord. He is incredibly composed during the whole performance. BRAVO!
Bravissimo Johannes! Always a great
Pleasure to hear you playing. Congratulations . Hopefully se you in Stockholm soon!

Thank you again for allowing us to be part of the audience. I thought the Dupre was fabulous and I believe it was Debussy who said the aim of French music was to give pleasure, I have never heard Debussy on the organ before it was certainly a pleasure to listen to even though at 2200 a sweltering 30c in Adelaide.
Truly beautiful, sheer perfection from Johannes Skoog.
It is wonderful to discover you. How nice to have the spoken introductions. Terrific video. And thank you to Pierre-Francois DUB-ATTENTI for the post.
Ind E Douglas Jensen! Well said! and xo from CA
Merci Pierre-Francois et bravo à Johannes Skoog!
Bravo! All brilliantly played. Johannes Skoog is an organist to watch out for and hopefully will perform, record and compose in the future on the public stage. Nice touch with the vignette from George Baker in Texas whom I remember from the concert at SS in honor of Marie-Claire Alain. I liked the photos and paintings shown in between the pieces performed. If I'm not mistaken there was a photo of a very young Daniel Roth standing next to Marcel Dupre! Thanks once again to Daniel Roth and Pierre Francois Dub-Attenti and the rest of the SS team for the work in assisting the organist, setting up the concert and streaming it. This is cutting edge in the classical music world and your fans across the world grow every day
Well said epincion~ here here~ I second your words~

Thank you for making available this performance by a young talented musician. High quality audio & video as well.
Please be aware, for about one minute at the start of both Dupre & Debussy, the video has a stop-motion defect but the audio has no problem.
Bravo! And thank you for this video. I like the calm way he asks for help to turn the page at 19:52.
Inspiring. Thank you again Pierre-Francois.
Graceful musicianship - thank you!
Bravo! Whistle! Cheer! Applaud (standing up, of course)!
Superbe!
Gratidão imensa por ter documentado essas audições. Estou mal acostumada. Só consigo ouvir esse órgão... nenhum outro...
Brillant Halucinant! Félicitatios
This guy is great!
I saw very few videos of organ audition where an effort was done on the image. Thanks. I like to see playing.
Magnificent
Bravo!
Excelente organista!!! Ótima interpretação!!
The prelude of the Dupré always reminds me of flowing water
Bravo Johannes !
12:05 - Beast mode!
literally
New audio equipment? I felt the 32' stops quite definitely. And the video of Dupré at St Sulpice (please tell me that there is sound with it)!
Hi, my own mic' micro 183 neumann
Merci, thank you, obrigado!
What was the audition for?
What was the jacket he was wearing with the lapel called? Or is that a black scarf? Thanks!
A dinner jacket, a blue shirt and a dark red/purple scarf!
Great choices! Maybe I can wear scarves next time I perform haha :D

So wonderful! But I would be irritated by Master Roth and the others speaking. How come?
It's because of the registrations! They were amazing, but they had to talk otherwise it's way to dangerous.
where is my friend Christophe Zerbini?
he helped with the video regie
also important work.
who said this was not important work ????
