This is the hardest, and most challenging survival challenge yet!
I challenge myself to build a primitive friction fire using just an axe. I will make all components from the hearth board to the spindle, to the tinder bundle. I will use some other materials including cedar wood, and also birch bark to start the fire.
I hunt cotton tail rabbit using my trust 22 LR, and cook what I catch over an open fire using a spit. I enjoy eating the rabbit in my primitive debris type shelter modified lean to under a fallen tree.

    Fun facts:
    1. Snow is made up of only about 4% to 10% water. It is mostly air. You have to eat LOTS of snow to get much water out of it.
    2. Eating snow in cold conditions can be dangerous because it draws heat from your body and also takes energy. That's why it's always best to boil it if possible.

Another good one. 36 min, you didn't want to go to far to not get lost, it's winter and not snowing, just follow your tracks back. To avoid the rabbit bones splintering, you can sever the joints in the legs, just bend it give them a rub on the axe, the knuckle will pop out. I do this when freezing them to prevent the bone breaking the plastic and causing freezer burn. Look forward to the next one.

Wow those are some awesome skills demonstrated in that video brother! Congrats on the challenge. Was kinda sad to see a cottontail go because they're so cute and then a second one, yet I get it! Enjoy the feast :)

Pretty amazing that you got it going in those conditions!! And what good fortune to get TWO rabbits like that!!

Ate a lot of cottontail when I was younger. Clean it and soak in saltwater overnight in the fridge. Dredge in seasoned flour and pan fry like chicken. Use the drippings to make a white gravy. Flour and milk.

Love the challenges. Spindle and hearth boards are hard enough to make with the best of tools but making one using only an axe is impressive.
Next time I'm gonna have to ask you to really challenge yourself. Overnight in only a loincloth and your longbow.

Awesome video as always. Have you ever tried the pish version of cleaning a cottontail. Just grip tightly behind front legs holding the front push towards the rear. You can look a video up on here for a more exact how to

Since you asked: I’d be interested in a “favorite gear” type challenge, where you pack out as much of your favorite tools (and maybe some alternates) and then at the end talk about what you ended up using most vs. least vs. not at all.
Or what about “my wife packed my gear” 🤣 that’d be a fun one, maybe better for spring/summer. Hike out to the spot and then find out what she packed. She could even film packing since it could be a blind pack, like a surprise.
Another thought is an “abo” challenge like flint and steel, just the basics... akin to Townsend’s. 😉
Also, I do enjoy when you and Jer collaborate, or you and Fowler, etc. I think those are best for a longer stretch of time, not just a 1 nighter.
    I dig all the challenges!

Me and my son both loved your recent video, it still makes me buzz to see the reaction when you make a successful bow drill fire. And that last cotton tail wow you couldn’t make that up lol awesome 😎 lol thoroughly enjoyed it as per usual.
I just wish I could take my son out, but we are pretty restricted in the uk as to where we can camp and hunt 🤦🏻‍♂️
Really enjoy what your showing viewers, and thanks for everything your doing in demonstrating the fundamentals of survival 👍🏻
Look forward to your next one mucka 👍🏻
