Katy, you should be living in Ireland. It's a hoot, everywhere you go they have live impromptu Irish music at the bars. I love your playing. I saw the video on the mistakes you made while learning on your own and it really hurt my heart that people could be so callous, and abrasive instead of warm and helping you become a better player. I'm glad you finally found a teacher who was willing to work with you, no one deserves to be treated the way you were. Look who's laughing now, you're a fantastic musician.
I really enjoyed this Katy. I love this kind of music. You play well and be encouraged. Thank you for and continue to share your music along with the passion behind it. Stay safe from London, Uk.
Hiya Katy, Great video and so glad to see you safe and well. It's so difficult to concentrate on anything with this virus around, but if we all stick together and encourage each other we will get through It. Thanks and stay safe, David.,🎶🎸🇬🇧❤️🌞
Yes I’m doing well thanks! Feeling very inspired and enjoying life 😍 Are you still working as a doctor? Must be hectic at the moment ❤️ I particularly enjoyed your mandolin in this video, so cool!!
@@LearningtheHarp Yay! Thank you so much! And, that's great that you feel more inspired! :) There was a bit of an inspiration drought for me for some time given the circumstances, but I'm starting to feel a little more excited to work on creative things again. I'm not a doctor, but I'm still working as an engineer. I've switched from working in flood forecasting and forensic engineering to mostly focusing on dam safety, but it's been fun! ^_^ I was hoping this would be a year of playing music with other musicians, but it seems that will need to be put on hold until next year... :/
Katy Adelson I somehow had it firmly in my head that you were a medical doctor... oops! Such a pity not to be able to play with others at the moment but we’ll doubly appreciate it when we can again! 🤗
I have been missing your outstanding music and discovered it only tonight. I found several of your excellent songs on TH-cam and will watching for more.
Wow, I have admired your acomplishments in the past but this one has it all, great performance of an upbeat tune.... I love it when your sassy side comes out! And last but not least the background scenes were incredible. You nailed it girl!
I find it somehow satisfyingly appropriate that a tune called "Whiskey Before Breakfast" is a Reel. Very enjoyable performance, ma'am, I didn't want it to end!
Much aroha/love Katy, that was truly beautiful tune 'Whisky In The Morning' thank you for sharing and hey you stay safe and well at this time thus enjoy your time getting back to things you haven't done much of for a while. I did like the setting you chose for this tune also. Just quietly a whisky in the morning probably help keep the virus away, joking!
I play the fiddle a little, but you play beautifully, such a lively tune, that tickled my soul and ears at 4AM, thank you for sharing your wonderful talent.
This was amazing. It reminds me of laying outside on a cool Texan summer night under a starry sky watching a bonfire and listening to Bluegrass tunes. It really has a hoppy and light feel something you can relax listening to! Your playing of this song makes me appreciate the amount of musical diversity/range the fiddle is truly capable of. Keep on playing, please!!! :D
Great fiddle and mandolin playing Katy! I heard you play some Scottish fiddle tunes a while ago and you done a really good job with those also! Best wishes from Scotland.
This is always a fun song to play in groups, and is a lively tune! You've done a great arrangement with this, Katy, and I see the clones are expanding out into other instruments :) I have missed playing music with other musicians during these crazy times - I still think music is a universal antidote to everything! Stay safe and keep playin'!! (p.s.- Love the outtakes at the end!)
Thanks katy haven't heard this song in a good while and it is such a cheery song and also mourning so a good start to the day and it looks like there are a few more songs of yours recommend i will be listening to. So thank you and happy pandemic or at least as happy as you can be during a pandemic!!
lol, reminds me of my sons when they were little, people used to ask if they were twins. I finally started responding yes but they're a year-and-a-half apart.
Great De Jarlis tune done beautifully and that video was great! You say fiddle is just a hobby but all your stuff is s really professional. I am a fiddle, mandolin, guitar and tin whistle musician in Denver as well... Slainte☘️
Nice addition with the Mandolin added. Whiskey Before Breakfast sounds like a Cajun style to me. If this is an Irish tune, the adding a Cajun style really gives it a real kick! You almost had me dancing, or at least taping my feet. Really nice Violin playing with the Mandolin! On a stringed instrument, like a Guitar, I have seen an Instructor play the melody with the fingers and use your Thumb in an alternating Base style of playing giving the effect of two instruments. Believe me, it's no easy task. This music style pulls at my heart! I love it!! Glad to see you so happy again.
It so nice to see you play the Mandolin. I took up the Mandolin a few years ago and look to your channel for inspiration on what fiddle tunes to learn on my Mandolin. Whiskey Before Breakfast will definitely be my next endeavor. Maybe I will play the melody on Mandolin and try the rhythm on Violin ..lol...
Great to see you back! Hope things are going better in Colorado, but you are clearly adapting well. (Getting worse here in Australia unfortunately.) Great jaunty little tune, some parts of the B part remind me a little bit of the B part of Drowsy Maggie ( I guess Maggie would be a little drowsy after whisky before breakfast. :-) ) - I have shared your videos with my violin teacher who is Korean, but she plays a mean fiddle ( Irish or hillbilly at heart no doubt! )
I love this tune. I've been taking flatpicking guitar lessons for several years since retiring, and my teacher (fiddle is his performance instrument) gave me this early on. He says that it is is a rare Irish tune (I think there are lyrics) that opposes drink. The other is Temperance Reel. your video technique is amazing--wish you could solve the lag problem on Zoom so we could have jams.
As a novice blind fiddler I love her energy and playfulness in the music very beautiful to hear! Thank you lord for bringing such an artist in our midst!
👏 👍Hi Katy - I see you added the mandolin to your repertoire - yippee! The nice thing I like about playing the mandolin is that it's keyed to the same open notes as the violin. And since I only play melodies, and not chords, it's like playing the violin pizzicato. 😊 🎻🎶
Wow your a girl off many talents beautiful playing love your videos you seem to love Irish music I was listening to it all my life playing guitar and whistle at 5 I give it all up after 7 years started whistle 32 years later and taught myself to play bodhran my dads like you he plays many instruments banjo guitar mainly his most favourite but he can play a whistle mandolin and I've herd him play a fiddle and keyboard i think you should just move to Ireland lol or go on tour Germany this kinda things big my dad went to Germany France American Spain and the list goes on thank you again for sharing your many talents but I love that violin 🎻
Those girls are very talented. (I wonder if the mandolin player has got a sister) Kidding aside, I've been playing this tune on banjo for well over 50 years and I never tire of hearing it performed. Great job, Katy. And tell that other gal that she's pretty good, too! 😉
You been holding out on us with your mandolin skills. Also, don't let the news or the covid get you down - I'm pretty sure we got a place for you in Canada if the US does implode or whatever come November.
Lindo! Você é muito linda. Grato por tocar nossos corações. Maurici
Love it. Love it. Love it. I need an Irish fiddle and mandolin player to play my percussion instruments with. Might you know where I could find one Lassie? The triplet sounds of the Irish really speak to my musical heart. Whiskey Before Breakfast. WOW. That was a good one.
Your clone is simply fabulous. As an autistic wildlife biologist I have but four loves in my life; mountains, fauna, solitude, and last but not least, musica buena. It sure took the YT algo-rythms a long time to bring me here😊. Please excuse me for being late.
Who was that masked stranger. :) Fun tune inspiration for me, as I practice and hopefully get confident enough to start at my local slow jam. I hope they play really really slow. Love the nature shots too.
I haven't played my violin in months, thanks for reminding me why I should get back into it
Reminds me of growing up around some of the best fiddle players I’ve ever known. Back in the 1970’s in my home state of Montana!😅
Thank you Katy, your smile and happy fiddling always makes my day. Please stay well and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! 🎻
I really enjoyed this Katy. I love this kind of music. You play well and be encouraged. Thank you for and continue to share your music along with the passion behind it. Stay safe from London, Uk.
Hiya Katy, Great video and so glad to see you safe and well.

Beautiful, the scenery is perfect for the tune. Magnificent job! I love it💖
Thank you so much 😀

Whiskey does, usually ... :D
Thank you Katy! Made my day. 😘

Beautiful !. Oh yeah, The music was good too. Thanks. I needed a lift today.
Great fiddle and mandolin playing Katy! I heard you play some Scottish fiddle tunes a while ago and you done a really good job with those also! Best wishes from Scotland.
I dig all of your music, especially the "Self Produced" tone of it all. Every time I hear this fiddle tune I think, "Been there, done that".
Great job! Enjoyed the read as well! Katy stay upbeat and positive and enjoy whatever you put your heart, soul, and mind to do!

Excellent music to play along on whistle. Thank you so much for your posts!

Actually a Canadian tune, usually credited to Andy dejarlais,a Metis player.
Thanks for these, Katy.
A real blessing & gift they are...
Pure magic.
From France, bravo et merci Katy 💙
Thank you for another great video.
You're the notification that I like to have. Beautiful fiddle 😍

The version of this I heard from a fifth generation Rockey Mountain fiddle man was called WHISKEY FOR BREAKFAST
I like your technique at the frog.
Who was that masked stranger. :) Fun tune inspiration for me, as I practice and hopefully get confident enough to start at my local slow jam. I hope they play really really slow. Love the nature shots too.
