Getting a breakdown of your usage between the heat pump, car, and the house will be key for you, I think. Getting your SCOP figure, which I think the indoor control unit will supply, will be interesting. Probably, that will help you more than a KWH pure usage figure. Keep taking those figures, and thanks for recording your journey thus far.

Don't mind at all, yes they replaced 4 and the bathroom one we said not to worry as we never turned them on and they were putting a white one while we have chrome. The one's in there are perfect, and keep everything good. They even left it here with me and don't know what to do with it (might sell)
Thank you for posting this. I'm on a similar journey, I had the 6kW big brother of your HP installed about ten weeks ago, the 6kW Altherma EDLA06E2V3. At this moment I have set my unit for 'Weather Dependant' mode on the Control panel, and also selected 'Leaving Water Temperature' (LWT) as the control mode. What this means for me (British Gas gave me one of their 'NEST' controller/thermostat units) is that the thermostat no longer has any input to the heat pump (HP). Instead the HP monitors the outdoor temperature via a thermostat in HP, and adjusts the flow temperature of the water to the radiators depending on how you have set up the weather dependant (WD) 'curve' (it's actually a straight line graph). This in turn allows your radiators to emit heat to each room as determined by the size of the radiator, which was all part of the pre-install design & heat loss survey caried out. This also allows you to create a weekly schedule (on control panel only), where you can add or subtract a few degrees from the radiator flow temperature, allowing the house to run a bit cooler at night time. There is also the option in Daikin Onecta App to add or reduce flow temperature in a similar manner in real time (where you currently see room temperature, that changes to a +/- 10 degree flow temperature adjustment wheel when in WD mode). IF your system is designed (radiator sizes, HP size etc) correctly then all rooms should meet their design temperatures at zero degrees offset on flow temperature, IF you have set the WD curve correctly (this can take several days or even weeks to tweak as you would like). My 6kW HP is currently using a steady 500W, 12kW per day in total set like this. My typical outdoor temperature has been 3-8 Celsius over the weeks. I don't know if this is of any use to you, but WD is considered to be the most efficient way to run HP.
Awesome mate, l am still playing around with settings and l am glad you have managed to get the sweet point. Yesterday was a bit chilly and struggled to balance and get it I the sweet window. I will definitely be looking at what you have said. Min is a 4KW one and set on WD but need more heat downstairs. Might need to chat to you more
Using 12 kw per day does seem excessive if its all the year. Surely in the summer its off and the water is heated using either an immersion or other on demand devices which only heat the water needed
@@richardlewis5316 my heating is still on at the moment and turning off the HP is not the most efficient way of running. WD sensors will do their bit for the warmer times and no, the HP will continue to heat the water even in the summer. Immersion only used for emergency water heating when we run out and we need it urgently.

As the weather warms up this is dropping below 10, HP has gone to sleep now the past couple of days for about 6 hours each day during which it consumes 11W. In standby mode it will waken up and provide hot water as requested by my Mixergy cylinder. This can all be monitored via mobile App and adjusted to suit your needs. 12kWh per day costs £93 per month on standard 25p tariff. Aprils bill is £76 for heating & hot water, so coming down. Any use of immersion would be a total waste of money with HP returning a COP of 3.5 for heating HWC.
I think there is much confusion about how long a heat pump has to run - many articles say that is should be running all the time to keep the house warm and to heat a cylinder of hot water. You confirm what I assumed - that a HP would only be needed in cold weather. My only worry would be that if the hot water cylinder was completely cold it would take several hours for a heat pump to warm it up which is why I thought using an immersion for half an hour was more practical. Or a continuous flow water heater or electric shower.. There is no need to heat a huge cylinder of water when hot water is only needed for a shower.
I had a 10Kw Daikin heat pump installed last month. The temp is set for 21 deg. It’s not switched on for room heating yet but the hot water comes through much quicker than the combi boiler we had. Now waiting for the cold weather!
Thank you and congratulations on your HP too. yes, weird right that, we’re waiting for the cold weather. I have sealed the doors too, making sure there is no cold draught coming through. I am waiting for the cold but also tentative as l know it’s going to cost more. I’m at 18 degrees at the moment, just leaving the pump for the water. It’s not off for climate, it’s just reduced temp only.

I have had my Octopus heat survey and was offered a Daikin unit, However, I am holding out for a Cosy HP. Unfortunately my heat loss calc says I need 7kWh so the Cosy 6 won't suffice and I'll have to wait until its bigger brother (or sisters!) are released. As the 6 hasn't been released yet and that is meant to be first, I might be waiting some time! Possibly even a couple of years!

People think the radiators should feel hot to the touch, but its not true, all the radiators have to do is replace the heat that is lost naturally through the fabrics of the home, your home looks like a relatively new home with better insulation than older buildings, which keeps running cost down👍.....plus, im also sure the fly was feeling the benefits of a warm home too😂
Hi buddy, fantastic videos looking to get the heat pump here to with a similar house setup. Although would prefer installation in the garden, I think the boundary with the neighbours window is similar to yours so I may have to install the unit in front of the house. Are the pipes that run to the cylinder via the bedroom hidden? You were considering running the pipes up the ceiling or the running boards which did you go for? Is it unsightly in the bedroom? Thanks
Hi, we didn’t run any pipes into the house, they just used the same pipes for the boiler which were already there so didn’t need to run new ones through the bedroom. We are in the depth of winter now and house is warm. The reason we went front was we want to have extension later so back had neighbour's window distance issues so in the end the front where the kitchen is and where the boiler was so it was just a matter of joining to those pipes and all was straight forward. You will love it and hope you get good workmen too who will explain what they are doing and what it means. Bathroom was meant to change heater but in the end we said no due to the different color (we have chrome). In winter we tended not to use the bathroom radiators so and wRmth from heat pump is welcome. Oct-10th Nov bill was £258 including charging 2 EVs so very happy. This month will be slightly more as we are charging outside our cheap tarrif due to having journeys on both cars. All in all you will love the HP. Front install, you will need to be brave as there are some unkind folk who will have a go at you but if you are happy then you should be fine. We don't even realise anymore that it's at the front! One of those getting used to it being there and our road is private so tend to not have many wonderers
My Octopus install kicks off Monday they sent a couple of guys round Thursday we are running pipes up into the loft so we now have scaffolding up to do so 😊
We will see Steve, have plan on tidying it up a bit as soon as we’re clear of options. Internal would not have been the best as the electric box is on the other side inside the house and the car charger makes it look clumsy but we are content for now.
Well my install is done, so far so good, water is nice n hot, all new radiators too, the pipework is pretty discreet parallel to the drainpipe so you arent drawn to it, the wiring is tucked under a brick outcrop so its all nice n neat, the daikin unit is at the back of the house so you can just see the top of it from the conservatory, not too bad Traumatic week but im confident it will work well for us. Cant fault the guys who did the install.

Are you on the Octopus website using the link they sent you? It should be straight forward unless there was an update. Check you are on updated apps both Octopus and Daikin
The COP can be calculated with information supplied on control panel which supplies a low resolution energy consumed figure in kWh, and produced energy. This can be viewed for heating, hot water, or both together. You can view daily usage for current week and previous. But can’t recall daily from three weeks ago. In saying that the monthly figure can be viewed historically. The COP cannot be calculated from App’, it does not show energy production. My COP since installation @ 12 weeks ago is @ 3.9 for heating and HW, heating only is 4.24, and HW typically 3.5.
Wow. Putting that heat pump out the front is not what I would call attractive. Couldn’t it have been placed at the back or side of the house somewhere?
But, these things are so very subjective. Some consider solar panels unsightly, yet how often do they look at a roof, or indeed should they be looking at a roof? I think it is quite all right. I suspect location was a consideration in the installation and surrounding buildings and space for free movement of air. There is nobody to be affected and I doubt the post person will be complaining . . .

Don't let them ruin your house like this! Run cables and pipework internally. Circuit protection (fuse boxes) should be internal too.

Octo Aid is a great app. I also use Octopus Watch. Both great apps.
