Hi Richard and Lenore absolutely amazing wall hanging you both did. Love bog oak and resin. I’m still in awe of your ability to create such amazing pieces. Thankyou for sharing this video. There is going to be a very happy person who buys this. Cheers 🇦🇺
Thanks so much John! Got another nice 30kg lump of Australian Eucalyptus Burl that I’m currently turning into TWO of the Gaia’s for the wall. I think I’ll do them over two videos 😁👍
Hi Richard, beautiful piece my friend! loved watching the process of putting this all together, and the poring of the resign was indeed very relaxing :D
Thank you! Are you based in the UK? If so you should pop along to one of our he shows I’m at, just to see these things in person. Only do a few art shows a year in the southeast, Oxford and maybe Manchester this year ☺️
Thank you very much kind sir! I’m gonna have to make some new videos as you’re nearly up to date on viewings 🤣🤣🤣 Hmmmm, what to finish next?! I’ve several pieces in the making all being filmed, 🤔 another resin piece involving 4 medium burrs and resin or part 1 of 2 of The 30kg dry Burr/Burl or hmmmm, no, they are the most likely options to be next.
@WoodWithD lol, yeah have been working at my watchlist to get it down... any given opportunity it has been on... though it has left me with loads of comments to catch up on 🤣 Both of those sound like they are going to be incredible pieces, so definitely not an easy decision as to what first? I'd suggest drawing straws or do a lucky dip in the offcut bin.
stunning work as usual Rich, you’re certainly mastering these resin pieces. Definately right choice with the reds. Getting the shed sorted and im having a go at this..😂
Nice piece. Just a tip. When pouring resin into a piece like this without the use of vacuum or pressure, if you use a heat gun to heat the wood and on the epoxy as you pour, the viscosity of the epoxy will reduce dramatically and vastly improve the ability of capillary action and gravity to fill the small cracks. Of course, you need to use some judgement so as to not burn the epoxy. A slower cure kit helps.
Very helpful boooshes! Thank you! I think particularly on the bog oak with its open cracks. Never thought to warm the wood too - brilliant! On non cracked wood, I’ve learnt to paint the wood or bark it’s butting up to with some of the resin from the first and second pours. 😁👍👍
Awww thank you Craig! 😊 No grabbing, we’ll maybe kinda, it’s like when you turn a punky piece of wood and the softer bits turn with great ease. The most challenging bit is the times you have to resharpen the tools sda😢
Lovely contrast there, the colour reminds me of candy apple red 🍎😍
Well, no, candy apple 🍎 is lighter and brighter than red velvet! 😜🤗
Beautiful piece of wood art great work 👌 👍 👏
Sorry for the slow reply Tim! Thank you for your very kind works sir! 😊😁👍

Superb as usual
Thank you kindly Tim 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
As usual great piece Richard. Does the resin try to grab the cutting tools? I've never turned resin.
