  • Part two and the conclusion to 'Abarth 595 Record Monza Exhaust Valve Stuck?' video where I came to the conclusion that the valve was stuck, this video addresses that.
    IN CONCLUSION...
Ether way, came to the conclusion that, exhaust valve open or closed it doesn't effect any amount of exhaust gas out of the pipes at least not in idle, as we assumed anyway. As the purpose of the valve is to act as a waste gate for the excessive pressure from the turbo. However I am fairly confident that the valve up to this point has never moved as the spring was over tight, therefore by removing it, this has now allowed the valve to rest open. My only concern is that this means no pressure will be built up, not sure if that will cause issues...
    Hope you enjoy!

The valve flap is a boost operating one, anything 0.8 and above I think it is and the valve will open ( as long as it’s not seized shut)

Hi mate. Does the exhaust still pop and bang when wired open ?

Yours was working fine. Its when you can't move it at all you have a problem. The valve on my 124 is seized solid with no chance of freeing it.

I use antiseize compound. Works better than ordinary grease.

So it seems to me if you want it to stay open you can just remove the spring is that right no need to tye it up with wire

I suppose that some annoyed neighbours put some cloth into the exhaust. Did you check this?

The spring pulls the valve shut. When the gasses go through it they push the valve open pulling the spring and then when your off the gas, the spring will tension back up (spring back essentially) and pull the valve shut again. Had to think about it lol but thats how it works. The Monza has done it for years. Mine seized shut and I had to get the exhaust replaced as the valve wasn't moving at all. Yours is actually fine, perhaps the spring was a bit tight or it's come loose if the valve is moving now. The best thing you can do is get some metal cable ties off ebay and tie the valve open. So that'll be in in the direction away from the spring. It'll stop the valve from seizing shut, because if it gets too bad you'll end up having to replace the exhaust.

+Ashcphotos Hey buddy! Yeah it took me a while to work it out but that makes sense, I’ve already got some cable ties to I will make sure I open it and keep it that way. It’s the simple solution I think as taking it to the dealer is a hassle for something that is just likely to happen again. Thanks for watching!

Marco Persichillo just make sure there’s metal ones. Plastic ones will melt with the heat.

The grease form of wd40 is what you need because wd40 comes in all forms it’s got lubricant written on it I bought mine from eBay wd40 the normal one has not got lubricant written on it , it will clog up again .

That valve is supposed to control the sound during high speed driving so it does not drone.

I suggested it lol the Monza exhaust needs grease by wd40 not wd40 itself look at this wd40 lubricate grease written over the bottle
