    I admire the group of people who still know about this song or this album for that matter. Here in tje states, nobody seems to know anything about the Buggles other than Video Killed The Radio Star. It is a shame. I don't know what it is. This album has such a different sound, and it draws me in. I just get taken to a different place.

      I use to fly out to see my sister and brother in law in Houston from Southern Cal in the 80's when this dropped and we listed to it all the time. We were big Yes and Asia fans at the time along with many others but this song and this album, Adventures in modern recording, was so amazing and we got completely absorbed by every note. It was fun, deep, dreamy and super ahead of its time. Loved it... Great minds -

      Les américains ne connaissent rien aux groupes 80-90 rock alternatif . Gros sons des synthes , ça ils ne connaissent pas et trevor Horn est un bon compositeur. 😅. Les français oui.

    Yeah, my story with this album is that in about 1988 my dad bought 2 big boxes of records at a garage sale. This album happened to be in the box still in its original packaging. I took the record out and played it for the first time that day and Loved it. I was around 8 years old and was infactuated with the album LOL.

    "trfesok3 years ago
    Hmm.. sounds like Horn's and Downes' time in Yes had an influence on this track"
    I think it was the other way around - AFAIK this album and track preceded the Yes material and you can hear the influence of this on "Drama" as well as Yes's re-recording of other tracks from the album. Great collaboration and I for one would have happily bought another Yes album with this lineup but the die-hards hated Trevor big time sadly. Drama is still my most played Yes album however.

    • @YouTubeIsAssHo
      @YouTubeIsAssHo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Indeed, even the Buggles' first album has some stuff that sounds a bit Yes-ish, even though it precedes any connection. The first track of the first album could easily pass for a later Yes track. Just needs transposing up in pitch a few semitones, and you can imagine Jon Anderson singing it. I can see what Yes saw in these guys.

  • @videocircus
    @videocircus 16 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, you can find it on CD but it is very expensive.

I'm sure there is a used record store that has it on vinyl, and if/when I find it, I'll convert it to CD. For my own personal use, that is.

      I always imagined that it was on the red planet with beaches, Cadillacs, fancy (and very strong) drinks and singing flowers for sale. J.G. Ballard captured the mood perfectly.

    J G Ballard was the inspiration for this, a super story by Ballard, it is set in Las Vegas but not we know. Trevor Horn is a fan of Ballard obviously. I have read him for years, an incredible imagination. Ex High Rise opens with a character roasting a dog, the only drive is to get to the top where the really interesting characters are.
