I feel like Avi was so crucial to their win. Most a cappella bass singers go "doot doot doot" but he was an instrument. A true bass, the best on the show. He could have carried the band but didn't have to, he had 4 amazing vocalists around him.
Fast forward twelve years later and this is the first time I've seen them on this show. Sorry I missed it. Shawn sure hit it on the nose with his prediction... they have saved a capella! Would love to go to a show 🤗💚
love the arrangement and energy, and i'm impressed that they pulled off that last minute switch. also, side note: hearing kevin using a different snare is a nice touch because he mainly focuses on his inward k snare (it's in almost if not every song released since the sing off) and not so much the outward pf snare. not their best performance because they still have room to grow and figure out who they are, but not bad
@@SolennBreizh I agree with you that they are making new musical choices. And I don't always like when they stray from their core formula, but they've been doing this for ELEVEN YEARS!! They need to Branch out, as artists, for their own sake and to stay commercially and creatively viable. But I go see them every time they are nearby, and their shoes are still AMAZING. As for the Christmas album, they have done it like three times over. They don't want to be a group that just puts out the same Christmas album year after year. (And while Josh is great, I miss Avi)
I’ve seen some great Pentatonix performances. This is not one of them. Maybe I’m just too much in love with the original, but this strips it away if its charm.
I don't know what you watched, because this was when they really started to cement themselves as the Acapella group that GOES there. It's not SUPPOSED to sound like the original - that was PTX's thing - to make songs THIER OWN. Which was the point of the competition. This is also widely a fan favorite - and this is honestly the first time I have ever seen anyone say they didn't like it. (though I see a comment below yours also saying they didn't like it, but you are the first two I have ever seen).
Coca Cola says it best. Can't beat the real thing. People need to stop messing up. Classics and come up with there own stuff so that they themselves can mess it up
@lorianncostello531 For goodness' sake - they wrote the arrangement and choreographed it in just 2 days!!! It's great, especially under the circumstances!
this performance not only saved their chances, but this was the song that launched their career.
It's the song that won them the competition. After this, the only other result would have been to lose.
And it was all because of their fellow competitor Sonos which left the competition that inspired them to do it
They killed it with an A-cappella version of "Video killed the Radio Star."
@@JadenYukifan28 Yes, that is indeed what happened in the video and what the original comment was already saying.
I remember watching this live and I knew they were winning after this performance!!

I think that’s also why his solo career has been amazing!
Those who did not see the sing off my condolences. This was to me better than American Idol. When the winner actually Won!

Been over a decade and I STILLL get chills!!! I remember watching this live and losing my shit!!! They still are killing it to this day!!
Same! I miss this show so much
And now they've finally covered Believe by Cher in their 90's dance medley and it was FANTASTIC!
yeah they saved acapella for sure - they brought it to a whole new level!
Still gives me goosebumps every time. This was when I fell in love with them.
The other groups going crazy is so cute
They are very good saw them in concert once and they killed and they killed it!! They have excellent harmonies and very good vocal performance
The song that changed EVERYTHING🎉
Scott in glasses 😍
And history was made.....

I always love that Ben talks them up but also gives them valuable criticism, best judge by far.
You guys are AMAZING! Really enjoy all your music!
Thank goodness they changed their song. Best decision ever!
From such humble beginnings . . .
This show needs a comeback especially sonce a capella is becoming more well known
So glad someone did this song
This was the first performance I ever saw by Pentatonix. And I'm sure for many others, or changed our lives and theirs as well. Hell yeah!!!!
I'm so excited to see them in Oregon.
In Oregon?? WHEN?
@lindam7992 they are actually in Ridgefield, Washington, across the river from Portland on Thursday the 14th.
@@lindam7992 I may have to sell my ticket if interested.
Already commented, but I can't count how many times I've watched this 🤗💚
They did save accapella!!
They did back then, but where is a cappella in their latest Christmas album...? Where are THEY?
They introduced Accapella to millions of people, who had never heard of it before.
@@SolennBreizhthey are growing, as they should. Better than ever!
@ricardobertuldo9744 oh I know that! I just don't like their musical choices anymore...

God I miss the Sing Off so much.
This was the best season ever of the SO.
Ben Folds be like "NOT MY TEMPO!"
I think this was their best performance this whole season.
Man, I miss OG Pentatonix!!
i want a video to this song like as "the evolution of the music" without the public... it's fantastic
I remember that on the sing-off. That’s first time I heard them. Awesome cover
I don't think they ever did a bad song.
Next up, they should do a Yes song... after all the Buggles joined Yes and one is still with them, while the other produces.
Tempus Fugit
You guys smashed it
I mean they came up with this in two days no one else was gonna win that season
Hollywood walk of fame...coming up this month...
I saw the pic.but i want avi kaplan to be with them😢.
From the Buggles who joined Yes and did quite well
Pentatonix and Voiceplay need more attention..
Is that Ben Folds as a judge? If so he was awesome.
Yes. 😀
@@LindaVernon I thought so!!!! Wasn't sure!!!! Thanks sweetie!!!!
Kirstie?
So glad the other team got voted off! This song is so much better than Cher
For me, it's the only version of this song that I actually like ❤
Sad that avi left. They've lost thier way as of late.
Well I'm not sad for Avi, he's thriving in his solo career 😉
But yes, I don't really care for what they've been doing since he left...
come distruggere un capolavoro
" !"
Ma told me, " If you don't have anything nice to say..."
As a huge Pentatonix fan, I'd never heard this version before...
I didn't like it for some reason. I thought it was bad actually.
@TucBroder For goodness' sake - they wrote the arrangement and choreographed it in just 2 days!!! It's great, especially under the circumstances!
@@susieg4624 That still doesn't mean I like... Love everything else of theirs.

half last part of this presentation was a huge no no... I like the first part.
jaaa definitivamente el baile no es lo suyo deberian aprender a moverce con estilo
They ruined that song for me?

In a.... cover competition show?
No way. This is cheesy as h*ll. 😳🤔🥴
Not their best
Things evolve. They write their own songs now as well! Sold out arenas. Next is their European Tour in 2023.

Horrible desecration of a beautiful tune...........absolute vomit
My favorite a-cappella group
Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes like this.
OMG u people have cam along ass way
