Seal Rescued From Plastic

We have no clue where this piece of plastic originated. It might have been part of a seal, a bucket, a machine, some plastic packaging, or even a toy. The first indications of a larger plastic pollution issue were discovered back in the 1960s - over 60 years ago! Since then, minimal effort has been made to curb the production of new plastic waste, let alone address the plastic already polluting our environment. As plastic takes centuries to break down, we are preparing to encounter many more unrecognizable fragments in the years to come.
