Nearly 80% of their revenue are from Corporate and AI clients. Your average gamer isn’t going to shell out high dollar amounts for a gaming card. Gamers want to spend the least amount of money but yet want the most out of their cards. They’re not what nVidia is after. Whatever the price of the 5090 will be it will sell out immediately. There are gamers and hardware enthusiasts who can easily pay what nVidia is asking for their Flagship card.

It’s not AI boom, it’s new reality. GPU prices are primarily high due to general inflation that happened in the last years. Also covid/crypto crisis has risen prices a lot, and they just never went down after it to previous level. People were crazy, ready to pay x3 prices from msrp in 2020-2021. A monopoly would mean Nvidia is the only GPU manufacturer that you can buy products from. So very stupid comment. Also since when does any company respect consumers. I don't know if you remember me, but I still have that card. Well, the original one. It had died 2 months ago, so I sent it out, and they sent me a replacement last month. It's been working well, no problems.
I did have a monster 4070ti I bought 3 months ago. I just sold it 2 days ago, though, because I needed the paper for the 50 series. I made 10 bucks less than what I paid for it.

sure the 5000 series wil be faster than the 4000 series but yet again the frame time on these cards will be a mess making them far more prone to stutering than preivous gen was. jsut like the 4000 series is mosty prone to suttering copared to the 3000 series (excluding the 4080 and 4090 of course since both those card got deccent bandwidth) it'l be the same with the 5080 and 5090 they'll be the only cards that dont have horrible low 1% lows.

The data centre segment is where most of their profit is made. Gaming still earns them billions, though, and there is a lot of money to be made in that market if they do it right. It would make no sense for Nvidia to give gaming very little priority, considering it's their second largest business. It just won't be quite as high of a priority as AI. If anything, it would make the most sense if they indicated a strategic aim to strengthen its market across its data centre and gaming segment. However, Nvidia is completely nerfing the specs of the RTX 50 Series, except for the 5090. That is going to result in poor sales because there is no way people will be willing to pay for overpriced, crappy, nerfed GPUs. Nvidia is just wasting their own money by producing this crap that is going to receive nothing but criticism and just sit on shelves. They are not even close to maximising the amount of profit they can make in gaming. Nvidia's gaming segment is worth billions, and it definitely has the potential to grow way bigger. Nvidia treating it like a little side business makes no sense, and it's negatively impacting gamers.

Even if everyone is wrong and it's better it's still smart to get the ones from this generation tbh.
Either that or we can't relate performance to specs as much anymore due to archecture. As you proved with the 3080 to 4080. We could still see a massive jump in performance who knows? Lol
Or nvidia is sandbagging and wanted it to be leaked so amd releases there cards confidently snd then bam nvidia gets the last laugh in yet again.

I don't know what people expected. That the 5080 would match or lose to a 4090 was inevitable. And it's not entirely NVIDIAs fault. Remember that the US government banned the sale of 4090s and cut down 4090s to China and censored nvidia for trying to finess around the restrictions. The 5080 is all but confirmed to be the gpu earmarked for global release, including China. For that to happen it needs to be on that line of not as good as a 4090.
Violating those laws could result in large fines or at worst nvidia on the OFAC list of SDNs and banned from transacting in the US and having everything seized.

You’re comparing the wrong tiers. The 4080 replaced the 3080 ti because both have the same msrp. The 265 bit bus is lower than the 384 bit of the 4090. 25/30% faster than the 4080? Unlikely because of that severely cut down memory bus in comparison to the 4090. I’m expecting 15-20% due to the vram and clock speeds increases.

This will lead to AMD gaining much more of the market especially the mid to low end. Who would buy a 5080 that is not more powerful than the 4090? all other 80 series generations have been over the previous 90 series. For my self it is a bad move I want a better improvement. If the 8800xtx is 15% faster than a 7900xtx and cost less than the 5080 I will grab that instead, it will have more Vram which I do value also. Really what is possibly worse is the lower 5070/5060 cards staying 12 gb vram and having way less performance. The previous 70 series has beat/or been on par with 80 series of past gen too. Customers are used to this and will not make a purchase. We can always hope we are wrong.
