Enjoyed the review, a few corrections from an owner...... There is pumped in sound, you can turn it on/off from the service menu. The stock exhaust is so quiet it's needed, add an after market exhaust and it becomes annoying (I added the Infiniti branded Motorsport axelback, then turned off the pumped in sound). So many folks complain about the tame exhaust that my dealer is pre-installing the Motorsport on many of their RS400s, they sell better. The engine is under-rated, like BMW does. Stillen dynos got 375hp at the wheels, they project 440 hp at the crank, nice. Fantastic engine, I've had Germans and Jags, RS400s (Q50 and Q60) are great bang for the buck, and get an A for "looks".............

Yep, get a lav mic with a wind jammer on it. Having the lav attached to your clothing near neck line will help your audio. The downside with a lav is that usually you have to record to an external recorder and hence you have to sync the audio in post.

Anyway people have been bitching about the 7 speed slushbox automatic transmission and how it's slow. As for my car, I think the 7 speed automatic transmission is fine for me. Of course I don't go on the track so I don't need lightning speed shifting and I can easily pass other cars with no problem. What's your opinion about the transmission?
Meng Vang Thank you for your input! I think that the transmission is good for daily driving however for drivers that do want to take it to the track I think it should get a dual clutch transmission
Oh I totally agree. Either a manual or DCT will be great for this vehicle on the track and unfortunately, I think the Achilles heel of the Q50 red sport IS its transmission for those who are obsessed about having a track car. Infiniti/Nissan is still somewhat stuck in time with their 7-speed transmission from Jatco (already about 10 years old) and have yet to develop anything new because they've probably spent too much time and money on CVT technology. Either way, I still love my 2.0t Q50L. Would I like more power? Absolutely but the latest variants of the 300 and 400hp models aren't available in the market that I'm working and living in.
i wanna see this car go against other cars with 400ish hp cars(stock to stock) to see where it stands, because 13 flat @ 109 aint really impressive. And pls bro...q50 rs is not close to c63 amg in anything. lmaoooo..

Ade Akin Some ppl have done 12.6-12.7...then you can tune it.Because it has 2 turbos like the old rb26dett and the 2jz..that means while you get 5whp from your intake..this gets 50+whp from just a tune. and while u get 10 from your cat-back exhaust this get 30+whp from just downpipes And you can bolt in supercar speed by swaping in two bigger turbos..Still tho id buy something smaller and lighter like the toyota 86 or a 370z and use the extra money to make that fast. These luxury cars are way too heavy to be true sport cars..even c63 is a tank lmao
$20k cheaper and more reliable that's why people buy it better. People buy Corolla even better than accord for same reasons. I agree abou the q's sound- not worthy of 400hp. Definately need to upgrade pipes. My old 3.7 sounded so much better than my current q rs even with upgraded pipes.
it has NO adjustable dampers or susension at ALL !!! That alone makes it obsolete as a sporty car today ! With the Hybrid i think its nice and ok but the chassis is relly old now as well as the outdated NAV !! You need to get the Q60redsport with same engine which has a adaptive susoension !!

Any e63 (w211 w212 w213) will kill that infiniti in a drag race from a dig or from a roll. I'm not talking about in traffic either.
My 15 S4 stock smokes this car easily..Got it for $35k..For that price that should be mated with a DCT at least..That is one shitty cheap interior also
I really hate when anyone does a review of these type of mid level performance cars, the first thing they do is try to compare it to cars that is way out of its league. Any c63 is better than this car in just about everyway, its not even in the same breath with a c63s. A f80/f82 m3/m4 will embarrass it also. Just stop it, its just the highest trim Infiniti, that doesn't automatically qualify it to be on the same level with the German high performance cars. Its just not as slow as the base model q50, but its still not fast enough to compete. Accept it for what it is, smh.

I loved my 2014 Infiniti Q50. I leased it for 3 years. I think in a few years, buying a used 2016 Q50 will be one of the best bangs for your buck.

Honestly, V6 twin turbo @400hp at around 50k is not bad. Great for price point, and you can buy a year old model for about 45k.

Youre actually wrong....the sound is through the speakers on the q50 red sport...lol. Theres even an option to disable it in the settings.
