- In this video, Kelly will walk you through the steps to tie the Mini Bangtail T&A, which is an adaptation of his original T&A Bunker. This is also the first video in our Streamer Category for the Kill the Corona Fly Tying Contest. No rules on this one, so everything is fair game. Just as in the previous category, each person is allowed one streamer to submit and we must receive your fly by April 28th. Ha! I'm persnickety with my scissors, too! I have several kinds of scissors and each one is for a particular use. 🙂

I know what you mean about longer flash sometimes bothering you! Something about how it settles, and how the materials swim after it hits water for the first time causes that extra amount to stick out too much, even when it's perfect sitting dry in the vice. Glad I'm not the only one grooming the occasional streamer on the river.

I have tons of grizzly hen hackle..really short pliable feathers..wonder if that can substitute his barred mini buggerbou he uses for the top of the stacks....

I like to use one of those wooden spring loaded clothespins to pinch eyes. no more fingerprints! a little beeswax keeps them stick-proof.
What is that new fly pattern you were showing early in the video?
What was that scoping fly that you held up comparing the sizes? The tan one?
What was that new series fly and its little brother? Did it ever make it to production? Looks a little like the fat head kitty or the silk kitty. ???

Recently had a really fun day with this fly in olive and white. Kokanee, a big fat brookie, tons of lakers and even a white sucker on this fly - but I caught the sucker in his butt hole so I guess that doesn't really count.
Kelly is obviously an extremely knowledgeable and creative fly designer and fly fisherman. However, some of his fly names are silly, the work of a junior high school kid who can't get over how naughty sex is.

You can just skip through the steps if you don't have the time. However, you should watch his full videos (at least if it's a brand new pattern for you, or if you want to get the most out of them) because he provides a lot of great information and subtle tips that will improve your tying immensely, even if you are an advanced tyer.
