Love this. After having listened to kelly talk about this 30 times its nice to see it implemented . He has a good series on his channel currently as well
The pattern Kelly describes for big fish timing for browns seems to fit the behavior for larger landlocked salmon on the West Branch of the Penobscot River in Maine.
This varies by pool to pool and river to river. But in general, upstream works best for rivers sideways best for large. You want your fly or lure to move with or across a stream.
All casts….Single/Two Handed…Overhead…Sustained Anchor….Touch & Go….whatever you’re doing are the same…..Sustained or Increasing Tension into the “Firing Position”…….These are not “Circus Casts”……If you’re willing to waste a whole lot of time having fun becoming this good…. you can fish anywhere……Great vid Paul!!… How about doing one on your theory of the “Stop” or “Don’t Stop”……..😂 Regards Dave
I saw that video and it didn’t help much. I don’t swing for them. There was very little on nymph/egg pattern technique. And nothing on cast retrieve streamer fishing for steelhead. Thanks and tight lines
Looks like the Bighorn River in Wyoming. Canyon section. Big trout are hunters. They may feed on a pod of tiny bugs from time to time but when it comes to real feeding they eat big things. They also hunt more at night than during the day.

What a gem!
Will this work on bluegill ?
Perhaps extremely large ones.
This is awesome
You’re the best Kelly!
At 37:00 the "hatch is on"..........
Great video... Are you targeting browns, or will these techniques work as effectively on rainbows as well?
Both!
Is it better to work upstream while wading?
I have seen a lot of trout caught fishing up Up, Across, & Down .

Great great info
Glad it was helpful!
Filmed a long time ago
Nice brown Kelly put that picture on the fridge
Never understand the slamming and banging in the background. 'd rather hear you and the river.

@@ktvlm3987 I've fished all of those places for decades. The Bighorn canyon is unmistakable for anyone that has fished there

Quick question are we using the camcorder we got in 1997 to film this by chance? Lol
It was standard definition camera in the day when there weren't HD cameras
My favorite fly is a olive Camel toe Connie
