I would just clarify, I understand it is the reduction of blood flow to the muscles that causes the pain rather than just tightness (although the two are undoubtedly related). Key is to understand what the brain is doing and that there is actually nothing wrong (despite the pain telling you otherwise). I had major pain when I swung a golf club, right at impact. And when I say pain, I mean mind-numbing pain that made me want to throw up. It was so bad I thought I had torn a muscle or ligament and was doing permanent damage. Stopped all physical exercise but no luck. Went on for a year. Could barely drive as could not turn to my right to check my blind spot. MRI and Xray picked nothing up. Turned out it was TMS. Read Dr Sarno's book twice. It clicked. Made a list of the things that I was angry about and when they happened. Made sense. Started playing golf again. Initially, the pain was really bad but pushed through, firm in my belief that it was TMS. When it hurt, I swung harder. After a few weeks, it began to get better and then disappeared. Remarkable and confounded the doctors.

I don't disagree with this, but what I would say is that the key is changing how you respond to stress. If you can reduce stress by changing something in your life, that can be good. But it may be impossible to significantly reduce your stress, so you have to change how you deal with it. Because if you don't, you may end up running away from responsibility or really good but stressful jobs. As far as the exercise, I agree it's better to incorporate that into or back into your life after you accept TMS diagnosis. Also guided relaxation techniques worked for me to get to 100% pain relief.

Incorrect. Some of us have stressors that can't be resolved for example I'm going to have to have heart surgery and remove a valve in my heart I'm living overseas the insurance doesn't cover it. Number two I failed to create a functional life in America now I'm 60 years old and living overseas I still haven't figured out a career also property in California which I still think about living in or at least having property and has gotten out of control also with all my medical problems at 62 years old it's getting harder to work. I've got other things like hearing loss tinnitus and other medical issues I've also got osteoarthritis in my feet and my hands which is what brought me back to the site a lot of my problems do not have any easy answer or do not have any answer or the answer is something really invasive like open heart surgery and if I don't have my heart valve replaced soon I will die in the near

@@davidpearlactorteacherbizman I think that was the point. You can't change some things, but you can change how you react to them. For example, if you lose your wallet, that is going to cause stress, but every time you think about it and stress about it, is like losing your wallet over and over. It's a cycle. Good luck with your surgery. I hope you get things under control. BTW, I am just like you, I failed to create the life I thought I was going to have and now I'm fast approaching 60, and it's no fun really, not what I was hoping for. Hang in there.

Some of your information on this touches my condition. I periodically have low back pain, stiffness. And 2 years ago it went full bore more, especially lower back vertebrae and my cervical, which I've been trying to figure out lately (can't afford to go to doctors, so self medicate and research heavily). Started with my tinnitus onset Summer of 2019 when I got very bad sick, like a bad flu, for a solid month. At the end of that, my ringing began, then from then on, its turned to a "hissing" or electrical sound mostly.. Thats a very long story, but somehow I think my body is either locked up, due to constant flight or fight, or overload of cortisol, or adrenaline, or something. Or possibly a defict in some minerrals and vitamins. I've tried so, so much over last 2 plus years. The good days I've had, when in remission, I was less stressed usually, and had some sleep.Thats the one big thing, I miss, SLEEP! Quality sleep. I will say I've always had a Type A personality. ANyway, didn't mean to get long winded, keep up your great videos, I'm learning a lot. I need to order Dr. Sarnos books. Thanks again.

I know this about stress and how there is nothing that will show up in tests. My problem is when I stop doing 2 hours meditation a day / pace myself all my symptoms worsen and I feel so unwell. My nervous system was affected 14 years ago by a rapid anti depressant withdrawal, my body literally rejects any exertion or prolonged nervous system stimulation it responds with debilitating symptoms. I use an electric bike and scooter. I cannot get out the loop, I have tried everything including the Curable app.

I know that what they have found with children who grew up in physically and emotionally abusive homes not only have a shorter lifespan but the hippocampus pituitary adrenal axis is revved up. The implication from the studies that I have read is that this is a permanent condition. People from this type of background are more prone to cardiovascular disease, chronic illness, and cancer. One never knows though as research, and hopefully science, grows past prior assumptions.
