      @@timthomas1238 I wish I could explain it but I can't. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc and went thru months of physical therapy, and eventually got better. When I had another episode, I did all the same therapy and even got steroid injections, but had no relief. Somewhere along the way, I remembered Howard Stern talking about his back pain relief from Dr. Sarno. I did some research. Bought the book (Healing Back Pain). Bought the VHS tapes (yep, I'm old). And, for reasons I can't even explain, my pain went away. On the rare occasion that I have a flare-up (it's been years since this happened), I literally open the book to a random section, read a little, and within a day or two, I'm fine. He said that the problem of chronic pain is very complicated and that the mind-body theory is too simplistic. Could it be that it's actually the other way around?
    In his simplistic worldview the mind is a very simple thing that couldn't possibly affect the physical body. Does he have an overly simplistic understanding of the depth of the mind?
    The Mind-Body theory is based on the immense power and complexity of the Human mind.

    • @diehardpatriot3
      @diehardpatriot3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      agreed. the foolish dr underestimates the complexity of the mind , most likely because he separates body and mind even though we know they are intimately connected.

    • @ptmindfully5809
      @ptmindfully5809 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@diehardpatriot3 Exactly so. I am a physical therapist who focuses on helping folks with chronic pain and the people who are most resistant to the new medical understanding of pain based on neuroscience, are physicians. Their training treats the body as separate from the mind and they, unfortunately, hold on to that dogma. The information is spreading and more medical schools are adopting a biopsychosocial model, but it's a slow moving ship.
