      @Michael Evans Depends on your goals. This channel is amazing for injury prevention, joint stability work, etc. Not to mention understanding the functions of muscles and exercises to hit them properly. Creating a program for your specific goals is when the choice of trainers becomes a factor.

      @Michael Evans I don't have any problem processing the info. that Jeff C is putting out. My goals aren't strength related at the moment, just fat loss. Doing Jeff's German volume program and it kicks my ass. When I'm happy with what I'm seeing in the mirror then I'll move on to other guys with more experience/knowledge on the strength/power subject than Jeff C.

    • @a2-antonio892
      @a2-antonio892 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      anthony moffett Oh the good ol learning curve. So hard to pass it. Me too my left triceps hit a learning curve, and the only way to get DOMS for me is to first of all do forced reps, then onto dropset (still not quite feeling sore), and third go into heavy negative. Most of our (me and my mates) learning curve in workout are, suddenly for a couple of weeks, our mind muscle connection just suddenly dissappear. Its a feeling that kills. We have energy, we are motivated, we feel strong, yet when we hit the weights we dont feel like we’re in it. Our brain want it so bad but our body just wont allow it. I went through this for 6 times now, as i only started 7 months ago. Im good at detecting that valley that plateau now. When it happens, either back off, take ur time off the gym, travel, study, run. When u really miss it go for that muscle ur struggling with. It will kinda return by itself. By taking time off we actually got a bit higher in the learning curve’s valley. Just dont quit. Or, fight through the struggle, and forcibly rebuild the mind muscle connection. 3-5 of ur work with that muscle will suck but it will, again get u out of the valley. As learning curve happens with everything in life, in pursuing new hobbies, or with new relationships and new girlfriend, i usually do those 2 things. When me and my gf got into a shouting situation, either back off and spend weeks alone, compose yourself, and talk. Or take the harder, less enjoyable, but quicker way. Talk to each other and solve it together.

      Something I find interesting is that the videos in question were as much as 5 or more years ago... and since then jeff has claimed to be training for longevity and not concerned about setting prs anymore, in his mid 40s it’s not really important or smart to risk injury, yet he’s still lifting in the mid 400s without ever being focused on it per say. Strength levels can change significantly depending on what you are doing.. there was never any doubt in my mind that Jeff could perform the lifts, just judging by my own strength levels and training. but it really never mattered either way.

I started out with 10 and 15 pound sets and did slow high reps. I’ve now purchased a set of 20 and 25 pound bells and do burnouts. I’ll do 25 reps with the heaviest , put it down and rep out with the next and so on, I may do over 100 reps! I said all this to let you know I’m seeing more muscle gain at home working out like this than I did back in the late 80’s in a gym with access to all the weights I could use.

    Very good as usual! One thing worth pointing out about the option to decrease time - that's actually the definition of power (force x distance / time). In other words, moving the same weight in less time is a demonstration of more power. Of course this has to be properly cycled, but setting out to become more powerful also leads to becoming stronger.

    Don't know if you going to read this Mr. Cavalier but I've been watching you for almost 2 years now. I've seen your old content and new ones. You have had a huge impact on my fitness journey for almost 2 years. I was around 226 and am currently 173. I don't ever write comments on anything I read or watch but I had to let you know today that your content means a lot to me. I've learned a lot and am still learning from you everyday as well as doing my own research. I just saw a TH-cam video with a title of something like "Athlean-X Controversy" and based on what I watched I guess some people were saying that you use fake weights. I'm no expert, by far, on what looks like fake weights being used and I don't know you personally at all, but from what I've seen and learned and mimicked to best of my abilities since discovering you, I can say I truly belive you're a man of quality. And perhaps those deadlifts is your way of addressing those rumors, without actually addressing them. If that's what it is, I respect it. Anyway, I've babbled long enough. Thank you for content and continue doing what you're doing sir. Be safe and I look forward to more of your videos. And shout out to Jessie, can't forget you man. 💪💪💪

    Asymmetry, my question is about asymmetry. How can you lessen asymmetry without creating muscle imbalances? For example, my right quadriceps are bigger than my left ones, whereas my right calf is smaller than my left one. This creates a visual asymmetry that I would like to fix. I used to think that doing isolation exercises for these muscles and loading them with different weight could be the solution. But since you really stress the risks of muscle imbalances, I stopped doing that. So is there really a way to safely fix this, or one just has to embrace the asymmetry? Thank you very much beforehand, and thank you for all your teachings! You are The Sensei!

    • @trolololgast
      @trolololgast 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Probably just keep training like you normally do but switch some bileteral ( for example Standing calf raises) with a unilateral excercises ( single leg calf raises). Keep the weight the same for both legs but try and really work on the mind muscle connection on the lagging body part. Otherwise I'd just keep training and focussing on even force distribution when doing excercises and it will minimize eventually. Also note, no one is symmetrically built. You probably should't worry to much unless you're a pro bodybuilder or have previous injuries because of the imbalance or imbalance as a result of an injury. Hopefully this helps :)

    • @SantiVelmont
      @SantiVelmont 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      trolololgast Thank you very much. I will do that, especially placing emphasis on the muscle-mind connection.

      Sometimes posture causes imbalances. For example my pecs and lats would develop unevenly until I fixed my posture and increased my shoulder mobility. My left side was very tight and after loosening up through stretching and strengthening my gains became symmetrical. Also it’s really important to develop mind muscle connection with the lagging muscle. You may not be contracting it as much if you don’t give it your awareness.

    • @togp3403
      @togp3403 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, as others have said, do correctives to be sure that your posture and everything is good. Second, I think that working in isolation exercises would be greatly beneficial to your case, if you can improve your mind muscle connection, the imbalances will eventually get better. Keep in mind that this will take a lot of time, developing a good mind muscle connection alone is a pretty lengthy process, and seeing results from it too will also take a while, however if you want it done right, then you’ll have to work hard and be patient. Good luck man.

    You can't always lift your max. Sometimes I can squat 415, other days I can't. people saw a video from years ago and made an assumption. Thing is that he's not known for being a heavy lifter. He never brags about it and it isn't his claim to fame. He's about teaching smart, safe techniques. Q&A: I used to do dead lift on regular basis until I`ve hurt my low back. Now I understand that I was cheating last reps probably improperly initiating movement. And it was very intensive workout with minimum time to rest between the sets. I was doing The PERFECT Back Workout in my way ))) In spite of injury I continued to strengthen low back by doing some base exercises. After several weeks when pain has gone I tried 3 sets of dead lift with my regular weight of around 260 pounds. And in the evening/next morning I felt low back pain again. After just couple of days I returned to my normal workout routine. Now I`m not doing dead lift for a period of 5-6 weeks. I feel comfortable with all other exercises, but still avoid dead lift. I guess it`s nothing super serious, otherwise I wouldn`t be able to do big exercises such as squat, standing barbell shoulder press and etc. So would be nice to hear from the expert what are my perspectives regarding getting back to dead lift and what could happened with my low back. Love this channel, appreciate Jeff work so much. Thank you in advance for answer. Alex, Lithuania.

      Alex, if you know what is good for you - you will stop doing the deadlift forever! Body is warning you that something is going on, and it will like in my case, happen to you as well. You will blow out your discs for sure, just a matter of time. If you want to continue doing it - AT LEAST GET AN MR and confirm in what kind of a shapes your disks are.
