Barely related tangent here, but I hate when people (especially corporations) say missing out on potential profits is “costing money.” You didn’t already have that money. Not reaching some arbitrary maximum didn’t cost you anything. You just didn’t that amount of money.

*Me with hundreds of hours into the game* "OH a Rimworld Beginner's Guide?" *Click video immediately*
XD
Saaaame
You could end up learning basic tips that you ended up missing before
Same here
Also somebody with thousands hours play time player:
Noobert: *Uploads a beginners guide for new player*
Me with 1000 hours: ah yes, I definitely must watch this
More of a vis to share with friends
Same.
Bro I got half way in the video than realized "Wait a sec, I have 700 hours in this game" LOL
Pro-tip for anybody who has recently recently bought the game in all its DLC play the vanilla experience at least two times before modding because once you play modded rimworld it's really hard to go back
I cannot play the game without Allow Tool LMAO
@@pinkliongaming8769 I cannot play the game without combat extended
I generally play Vanilla everything, I will heed this warning haha.
I personally love naked brutality because it teaches you how much workload is required for each and every pawn and how much you can achieve per day. Although I will not lie the base game should have a more complex tutorial explaining food and the benefits of each and every detail. Especially when it comes to base defense. For example a safe kill box and the preferred material to use for building very durable walls. My overall experience with Rimworld is a 5/5 rating because you make the game into whatever you want it to be especially if you’re into modding.
Im a new player that went through the tutorial, i kind of liked how much it lacked because it made me figure out what i needed to. Made it a lot more challenging but after a couple failed colonies i can get a decent start
I’m sure it’s a controversial opinion but for those who decide to do manual work priorities I happen to recommend having nothing set at 1. Do your priorities all as 2 is first, then 3 and 4 being low priority. My logic on it is that by keeping 1 out of the loop when you need something done right then and there you can set it to 1 and everyone assigned to that job will immediately start that task.
Very good thought! Will be using that strategy.
As someone still on their first colony in RimWorld, this was a nice video! One thing I wanted to point out that I hope you continue to do for these kinds of videos is to show how you access different menus, not just to zoom in on the final menu or you already placing the object down. When I was starting I pulled my hair out trying to find where different stuff is. This may make the videos a bit longer, but I think it would go a long way for anyone who is truly new to the game.
I will definitely do that
@@Noobert ive been playing and im on my like 20th colony THEY KEEP DYING
AND FOR SOME REASON THEY REFUSE TO COOK
@@Unamed705 Check if they have enough a) raw food and b) the priority set to cooking :)
This is so important. I've been combing for answers on reddit and such and people will be like, "oh just press this and that" for a button 3 menus in and I'm tearing my hair out.
Im making these to teach new players the game. If you want to help i encourage you to comment helpful tips and strats for the future players that find theyre way here :)
You built your wind turbine in front of a bunch of chunks and didn't mention that it slowed down electricity btw
Not gonna lie I have over 1000h and never thought of that kitchen hack guess you learn new things every day
how did you get steel to make the stove?
Also count your lucky stars if you start with or are able to get huskies. Huskies are good because they have 0% "Wildness", so once you've trained them in something they basically never forget it and you don't need regular sessions with them to keep them tame. They can be trained in everything, too. Only upkeep is food which they can often get themselves by killing and eating raiders; very nice.
I always wondered why people loved them. good to know
@@Aaronlcyrus and in irl their loud and fluffy and cute.
I will add, make sure that your doctor has self heal permission by clicking the '+' symbol on their hud when you click on them, and make sure under the schedule tab to tell them to keep med kits on their person. Saves possibly critical time in running to get them.
I can feel my first three colonies staring at me with pure anger from heaven right as I'm clicking this video...
As someone who as trouble doing the early game, I very much appreciate these tutorials that give me a meta sense of how to expand my colony. Thank you!
I just started playing the game and from what I saw from other videos, I knew I had to check some beginners guides out, because it looked very indepth where I would've definitely got lost in. The tutorial did a little but still not enough. After watching this, I started my first colony and everything did go well at first... then I build the research table to research the battery... nobody wanted to do it. I had one but I couldn't get him to sit down and research because it was to "long term" for him, so he did other stuff until he sat down by himself and researched. Was not considering that. I picked the others out as recommended, but that one thing took a way longer than it could've XD
Just picking up the game but man this was a really good video. I've spent 25 hours building my first base and while it has been doing fine and is getting fairly advanced, I see how I have wasted so much space and efficiency. Not to mention that I picked a plain area away from hills and ran out of resources super fast, and digging them out of the ground is so slow. I've tried to manage way too much and give too many orders all spread out and I constantly have to try to "fix" what my pawns are focusing on. I am definitely watching more of your videos.
Love your videos bro. One thing that's important is coordinate points IE N: 35.268 E 78.657
For exact tile location on world map
Just did the tutorial earlier today and it you covered several things it didn’t. Thank you!
I just started playing rimworld on steamdeck out of the blue. Now hooked and glad I looked for a guide 😂
Hey I just wanted to say I like your guides. I have 275 hours currently on PC. I also own all the DLC on PC, and bought Rimworld and the Royalty DLC for PS4. Being that the console version is the newest version you may want to mention this guide also applies to the console version (At least for the PS4 anyway) The differences are fairly minor, like you can't right click and allow-all in console as far as I know, but you might be able to help some new console only players that might not even realize everything here also applies.
My husky and child laborer died, I am left with two traumatized middle aged people and a prisoner, I am sad
I downloaded this game on a whim and was immediately overwhelmed by everything. This video has given me so much confidence in playing this game, I can’t wait!
Nice... I always enjoy some beginning guide's, someone can always learning new things
Good tip for storage, shelves are great, use them all the time
i keep coming back to this game for no reason so i might as well learn it eh ; u ; thanks for the video!
I've never been huge on colony sims/strategy games, growing up I almost solely played games where I controlled 1 character in real time. When I discovered Rimworld it quickly became one of my alltime favorite games, It's such a mind-blowing experience that never gets old. Rimworld is the 🐐
Thanks for this. Starting to ease myself into the game.
Even this beginner guide shows how complex the systems of this game are. I love games like this and I want to love this one, but the learning curve is steep.
I'm totally remaking this series as an hour long tutorial idk when it will be done but it will be much better
Excelent. I haven't played a long time ago and it's good refresh some things (:.
I just brought Rimworld and this guide is super helpful. Looking forward to play my first run.
How's it
Imagine needing to buy it
hey man thanks for the video , its exactly what i needed for a first day in Rimworld , liked and subed :D
Glad you enjoyed it. Im half way done with p2 should have uploaded forever ago
Great video!!
I hope this guide eventually covers basics of DLC in seperate areas, such as the unique starts and some of the mechanic basics. I understand that xenotypes and genes could be a video by itself but it'd not help for occasional refreshers on things like how to treat royals or especially Ideaology and Biotech mechanics
Thanks for this very helpful
Been really into 2D games lately. This one seems really hard and in depth. Seems really fun though
Great video I subbed and would again. Thanks for the help.
Awesome, thank you!
With over a thouand hours in the game, today I learned there was an in game tutorial.
Yo I just got rimworld a couple of days ago this is perfect
I'm so happy I could help
Thanks bro i am going to download it and you earned a sub and like
I'm just happy to help here
ROFL the adblock thing cracked me up!
nice video👍
Another quality upload by a quality youtuber
Always
My tip for anyone beginner... Be really cautious with caves, especially when you get a notification "Ancient danger"... Immediately go away and don't go back until you can blow up the enemy somehow lol
thx for the guide
i have a question tho when there's wood or some other resource on the ground it says my colonists are forbidden from picking it up and i have to manually press f to allow them each time is there a way to make them auto-pick this up?
Ah to unforbid go to the architect menu. Go to the orders tab. Right click on the allow button and you will get a prompt with two options. Select allow all on map.
Cool! Great! That was missed, with no mods for real!!!! As most youtubers lie when say no mods, only these 50...
Thanks.
I followed along,, during the setting up of my corn fields a flash storm destroyed all of my pawns and food fml
The best video I have never seen
Now this is pod racing.
Noobert... I have over 1k h in Rimworld play with extrem difficultys... If this game would have Vanilla achievements I would have them all... But damn.... The Shelf Link Funktion is So damn mind-blowing I really Hope you Get a LOL Pen Artillery Round in a Huge raid downing Them all!!! Good video, 😍❤️
Glad it helped!
"Its 2023!! time for another rimworld beginners guide!!"
"yes dear..."
I have no idea why i'm watching this after 300 hours in the game but cool video! :D
XD
I just hit 700 hours but I'm still learning things from channels like these
Nice video
I just bought the game and it’s confusing
Thanks for help
Me at the seed Part
-COD zombie noises- THATS NOT HOW YOU SPELL BEGINNERS
When you have a good power supply, make nutrient paste dispensers, the negative mood is worth it in my view for no food poisoning and amazing efficiency with food to nutrition.
Hear me out. The mood buff from quality neals helps counteract mistakes made during the day
this was amazingly concise i just bought the game and had literally zero idea what to do or how to progress lmao the tutorial is very short
im working on part 3 for defenses fear not
@@Noobert we WILL be watching
Is anyone else here because they are looking for a game similar to Kenshi and people kept recommending RimWorld?
it's very much similar and different in good ways I love them both
The name of the map is "begginers guide". The name of the video is beginners guide. Makes sense 😂😂 I'm pulling your leg brother good vid!
"Let's double click on the shelf to link them all..."
Me, 400h+ Rimworld player: YOU CAN DO WHAT?
I was struggling a lot with the cable as i thought electricity cable will place a L shaped cable therefore i have not placed any ! looool
... That moment when you're watching the video and try to both zoom out to get a larger view and shift the camera focus.
Every thing went horribly wrong
In my playthrough I ran out of resources on map like steel and other metals. what to do to prevent running out of resources?
embark in the mountains and tech rush to ground penetrating radar
I didnt have a colonist with the ability to make a fridge how would I go about getting one
Finnaly i have seen your old vid for tutorial but did not help I hope this one helps cause I just started playing it and I don't know how to make weapons or most of the things
did i do somethiing wrong here? my crashlanded 's dont start out with half these supplies? I was thinking it was cause i messed with Prepare Carefully mod but i took that off im starting with the basic animal knife bolt action and a revolver but then only like 3 packaged meals and very lil wood or any other resources??
This is very interesting i have no idea i would reccomend removing all mods fpr this tutorial
im not new to rimworld i just didnt know where else to ask this question. im looking for some cool mods to play with. is their one that lets you decide what your starting pawns traits are? and any good gameplay changing mods like medieval mod?
hey you got a few choices. I'll list em off for you Prepare Carefully (depreciated imo) Prepare Moderately, Character Editor (best)
during my tutorial it sent a single bandit at me...the first thing he did was give 0 fucks about the little sandbag thing i built and murdered the cat...RIP jack
oh wow i may have started in the way i’m not supposed to
i randomized everything no wonder i collapsed 2 times in the span of 2 days irl (basically just a year each play through)
For those going the mountain base route, do NOT underestimate melee fighters in a good choke point. It will be critical to defeating infestations later. Looking up a guide for infestation bait rooms is a good idea.
Yeah, that really wasn't the ultimate beginners guide. You just breezed through everything seemingly assuming we should know this already. Thanks for that!
Do higher seed rates on map generation slow down the game? Thanks.
I actually have no info on that one but i will look into it
@@Noobert Thanks.
I humbly request a mod review series comparing mods that do similar stuff to each other, cause that always throws me off.
When i use the seed Begginers Guide I get the same world but the factions are in different places, not only that but theres a faction super close to the tile that the video suggests starting on. Anyone else? I tried resetting all my settings, making sure I not only have no mods enabled, but also no mods even installed.
Yeah factions are random I believe. Just installed and got the same problem.
I didn't even make it to the point where the game started before I realized "maybe I don't want to play this...." lmao
yeah I need to remake this video to cut down the friction
Begginers Guide
I just saw the notification
I followed this and after I drew the wall, my pawns just wandered around and didn't do anything until they died. I was following the video step by step, but assuming there is something not mentioned or maybe something changed since the video?
sorry mate. work tab was talked about after walls I should've done it before. it's used for task assignment and it's the button right next to the architect menu on the bottom left. to start out it's best to green check all the boxes so pawns will do all tasks they are able to.
You crammed a lot of info into a 10 min video. Wish this vid had existed when I dived in the first time a few years ago. Would've made getting started a LOT easier.
I did my bwst XD
Booted up world with "Beginners Guide" seed
Couldn't find a suitable starting tile for the guide.
Deliberately misspelled it to reroll the seed and try again for the video.
do this again but for medieval overhaul that thing really need it
its funny that the game was like tribal and in second we have electricity
how do i build
I have a question and somewhat a problem.
I wanna try and have chickens, but they make alot of eggs very quickly. And make alot of chickens. And next thing I know I have 200 of them and they lag out my game.
Trying to micromanage animal husbandry, a colony full of pawns and various other tasks is kinda.. hard. Especially in a raid when the raiders start slaughtering my animals, instead of the storage rooms of the colony.
I'm unsure how to find ways to deter raiders from targetting my animals
That's not even the worst problem with chickens. The real issue is they'll consume as much feed as a horse and "destroy" every grass clump they touch but yield a fraction of the meat. (a lot of farm players fix this with the "Graze Up" mod). Once you address that, you can separate them into 2 pens and managing their numbers becomes WAY easier while turning their eggs into Kibble (a continuous feeding loop sort of)
The game has an auto slaughter feature in the animals tab. You can select How many of each type of chicken you like to keep and they will slaughter the rest
well this game looks complex and interesting...
I did all this stuff and the windmill almost never produced power because there was never any wind. I did all that stuff with the shelves and kitchen and none of my guys would cook even tho I put it as high priority on my cooks. Not sure what to do.
heyo my guy. depending on what you cook and if the foods in a stockpile as well as scheduling you guys too cook. and yes there are other sources of power but at the start a windmill or a wood generator is all you will have. I am remaking these videos in the near future to be easier to follow and more detailed to avoid confusing people like I have you. I apologize my guy
@@Noobert you didn’t confuse me I think what happened was I forgot to set a bill on my butchers table for my pawns to butcher meat.
I don't have steel to build things. There are steel slag chunks, but I can't get steel from them.
you will need smithing researched and then an electric smithy where you can add the job smelt steel from slag chunks. it will yield 15 steel per chunk.
Be careful with Randy, I got hit with two toxic fallouts that lasted an insanely long time.
granit and marble is best ok but why i mean i could google it but wouldve been interesting why that may be
4:48 the first bit that I actually needed explaining and you didn't explain it .-.
4:05 (looks at my 1st colony with a medic incapable of violence and a shooter incapable of dumb labor) Nah, he couldn't be talking about *my* colony.
Though tbf, the incapable of dumb labor has been more of a detriment in my low difficulty playthrough than no violence (which makes sense in hindsight).
Dumb Labour is probably the worst of these, though violence def has it's issues if you set up with a buncha hostile neighbors. Firefighting is a close third because usually it's also caused by Pyromaniac, meaning one less person who'd be fighting the fire anyway.
@Gratuitous Lurking Well geez, my pawn that can't do dumb labor also can't firefight. And has dementia.
I'm really struggling to understand why my past self went with this person. 😅
2 days ago?? dude right in time i was enabled to play the game, im serious this game has bunch of mechanic to learn i hope i have more extra time to memorize everything :(
Why does my seed look different...The land is the same but villages are not.
me watching this video even though I have 350 hours but haven't played in almost a year
Can you make a part two of this
Yup already making it
Took me 10 minutes to realize he spelled Beginners Guide as Begginers Guide.
My colonists died from heatstroke
Can you tell me how to get rid of a body
The rivers An excellent place to get rid of bodies. The decay rate is higher and will allow you to dispose of your mistakes at a higher rate
Me with over 1200+ hours in Rim World
Also me clicks on this video lmao
I couldn’t open the tutorial
*Me trying to follow this beginners guide*
Meanwhile…..
My first guy died by malnutrition when there was plenty of food available, and then the chick ate half his body. He was the son of my other guy so that caused him mental depression, then the guy tried to marry the girl and she denied him so he cried himself to sleep, and then his dog died while he was asleep so when he woke up he had a mental break and tried to stab the chick to death in the corn field, then he ran away and the chick crawled bleeding out back to her bed, then a dude in a black suit knocked out the guy and carried him back to base and joined us. Then a rabid squirrel got into my base and killed them all.
All of this while trying to watch and learn in this video 😂
