Not sure if someone has already mentioned it, but Magna Carta: Tears of Blood wasn't here, even though it's a turn-based RPG. However, that is a Korean game. This list was about Japanese games.
For the better, whether you mean to do this or not, your channel does an incredible job of informing on games we may have missed by doing lists like this, or focusing on games we may have great nostalgia for. The content in the last couple of months has really been appreciated. Thanks Erick!
Once again another great list that gave me new entries to consider playing when I have the time ❤️ Keep this up! Your content on RPGs always makes me and others interested to play or even replay these games
The Ar tonelico series definitely is my favorite example of a JRPG that doesn't need to be difficult to be good. Apparently the lore came from a tabletop campaign the series creator ran back in like 2000, and he liked it enough to make it into a game.

More like Wikipedia: The Game. Amount of detailed explanation of the in-game technologies and events becomes quite overwhelming by the 3rd episode. But it's absolutely worth it.
any idea about ps2 games rpg first chapter are on boat the main character wears a red headband and a master of magic and got 2 disciple 1 young boy and 1 teen girl, and then the boat suddenly got swallowed up and they are thrown back in time
Anyone know if any of these games had a dragon boss fight looking for a game unfortunately I don't remember the name all I know is that if u died u had to restart game

*Alternative title: One of the best console generations for JRPGs period.* The PS4 was a pretty damn good resurgence but it wasn't quite the deserved return to form/comeback that the PS1/PS2 era of games pretty much defined. God fucking damnit. I wish my fuckin PS2 slim still worked. The bloody laser that reads the discs apparently died on me and something inside was scratching the discs so a bunch of my beloved PS1/PS2 that I used to play religiously back during my childhood is just collecting dust now and it FUCKIN SUCKS. So many games and JRPGs that I still have yet to play are on this system alone and it makes me depressed thinking about it now. I want to probably purchase a second-hand one from either Ebay but they're either so damn expensive or I can't find any decent, old-school game retailers that still sell classic PS2 games in general. Eh, I'll still be on the lookout for any functional versions in the future so we'll see. Either way, great complete lists of some of the best JRPGs to come out throughout the past decades.
@@leonard9624 the two are practically the same the only difference is that Fes includes a larger Compedium of Persona and brings the Anwser Story starring Aigis
Two of my all-time favorite turn-based Japanese RPG's are Front Mission 4 & 5. Maybe they didn't get a NA release? I completed them with English patch via emulation - about 4 times each.
This is because the PS3 introduced HD realistic graphics but at the exact same time, it cost a lot of money, time, and resources to develop these games. There was not a lot of chances to have experimental games. The ones who succeeded were the ones that have been doing this since the PS1 era. Square Enix came out with Final Fantasy 13 and straight up made two sequels to that game. They didn't even bother to make a mainline game after 13. They just returned to the area of Final Fantasy 13 and build off there.
@@SecureInMyHead The people who developed the Wild Arms series came out with Wild Arms 3, 4, & 5. But when the PS3 came around and it got turned out that producing high quality, high definition games that contained bigger detailed worlds required a higher amount of effort, time, resources, money, and labor-power, it was blatantly obvious that reputable small-time developers didn't have it in them to continue soldiering on. And as a result, they have quietly withdrew. There's a reason why the PS2 had a massive library compared towards the PS3 when it came to the JRPGs. Sony gave out the signal of "you can make anything as long as the gamers (like you & me) enjoyed it".
The title of this video should be "complete list of games you purchased because the cover art looked amazing but when you started playing and got into the combat sections you thought to yourself 'what the fuck is this shit?'".
I got the same vibe a long time ago. I like playing the RPGs on the computer like Runescape and the lesser known MMORPGs but the JRPGs on the console were far different.
weird... didn't see FF11 nor FF12 here... :? also star ocean and kingdom hearts series? i think PS2 has huge library of RPG. Kinda weird seeing this video only like 17 mins :?

Magna carta was release in N/A...
We don't deserve you, Erick. Well done, man!
Another amazing list. Thank you so much for doing this for each console for the PS. An that thumbnail was pretty amazing too :)
The PS2 was an amazing system for JRPG's, so many great memories I have from those games.

Hi Erick. I missed that Lords of the ring RPG, that one whick is turn based. I played it and loved it. Great video :)

Props to you for putting the best game in the thumbnail.
Which game is she from? I think I missed it in the video if it popped up.
Djezza it is Aigis from Persona 3
Great video, would have loved it if you said a few words about each game. I understand time constraints though 👍
do you happen to have a list for ARPGs or AJRPGs? if possible in europe unless the prices are way too high

100%
Can you do such a list for the 3ds?
Knowing erick he's probably making one for every mainstream console
May I ask what game cover is on the thumbnail? I'm not too familiar with PS2 and am just starting out. Thanks!
That's not a game cover. That's the character Aegis from Persona 3. She becomes the main character in the 40-hour sequel called Persona 3 The Answer.
can anyone tell me what is the very last song at the end of the video? i need to listen to the full track

that game is tough as shit. i beat the dark wing zero with my last boost attack from my last fighter with low hp. close call for sure.

It’s this one rpg where the demo starts in like a forest or something and one of the characters fight with a volleyball can’t remember the name of it
To think that if you put all of these games in a folder, the size of that folder would still be smaller than an average XB1 Game!
great video. thanks. miss stella deus ?
I think he must have not been including tactics titles.
The crisp look that a lot of these games on the list is bringing tears of joy to my eyes! Is this component to HDMI converter for a small monitor or pcsx2 on pc?

It's a very different sort of game. A strange Atlus title.
I felt so bad that my favorite jrpg of all time Soul Nomad and The World Eater didn't make it into the list. -_-
also Disgaea too.
