@sOMBRE Demeurer the PS1 games looked like shit because it was Sony's 1st 3D CD console. You cant expect perfection on the 1st try and saying the snes being more powerful??? The PS1 was a 32 bit machine and way more powerful then games that came on a CART?? thats is as retarded as claiming Sega CD games could had played the same as Sega Genesis carts. IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY

Thank you for uploading this video. I found a game that took me 22 years to find. The Granstream Saga! I remembered the combat, but couldn't remember the name at all was so long ago when I first saw it on a demo kiosk at walmart.

Many fond memories playing these games for hours on end, many of which I still play and complete with each passing year. The PS1 & PS2 was definitely the defining era for RPG/JRPG games.

Great list! I was trying to remember a PS1 game recently and had no luck. Turns out, it was Dark Stone: a game I wanted to like so much , but could not.
Same for me with FF series.. i try to like it but somehow I couldn't careless. Shut like all the games after some playing. While Suikoden/Breath of fire titles.. I beated those games and can still replay them when I get the chance. Some games just doesn't do it for me.. even if they are a big hit in most households

ePSXe can look amazing with the right plug-ins. I prefer playing Castlevania - SoTN on ePSXe instead of PS3 only due to the save points looking a lot better. lol
The polygon type of games get the best treatment with ePSXe. Same with PCSX2 emulator for PS2 games.

It's a pity that you show only fight screens. Where is the 16 bit charm? Where are the towns? I don't think that most players play rpg only for the fights. They play them for the story, the world, the characters at first.
i still cannot find this one particular rpg turn based game. all i remember is that i play as a boy in a town or village. the first fight is fighting rats using slingshots. thats all i remember

Koudelka is my all time favourite and hardly ever makes it onto any of these lists 😂
A shame that most PS1-inspired games are only limited to horror, being all dark and gloomy. When there were games on that console that were colorful and vibrant and there was so much more variety of genres than just being pure walking simulators with screamers everywhere. If only there was a PS1 style game that was different from the rest and focused more on reviving the golden age of JRPGs on the PS1 and that was as graphically beautiful as possible despite the low polygons and that people would see the old PS1 games in a different way. Well, I'm already tired of the absurd overvaluation towards pixel art that is taking place thanks to Octapath Traveler and the "HD-2D".

I don't understand why people consider Harvest Moon games as RPGs... what RPG elements do they even have? If anything, Symphony of the Night should count. At least it has the full set of stats.

Was Vandal Hearts a rare game? Because I had a copy in high school and I traded it for a crappy PS2 racing game (Driving Emotion Type S to be exact).

Tales of destiny and Final Fantasy 7 is best JRPG games. Like a Storyline, Gameplay and animation. But Tales of destiny it's First series From Tales of series. Story line it's Stahn, Leon, mary, and friends. Final fantasy 7 it's story line Cloud, Tifa, And friends, But final fantasy 7 have a seven disc with be play. Now final fantasy 7 be have Remake version
Im trying finding a game but sadly its was more than 10 years so my memory its no very acurate.
I remember a scene where the mc its in bed room then suddenly shows a cutscene of flying island shaking like a earthquake then the mc exists the room and go up stairs and enter in area like a brown cave where you have one brown stair for down that where you exited out from bed room and other stairs to go up and the middle of both stairs you have a brown floor and then you go there suddenly appear a enemy, red dragon something similar its a big enemy.
Its a Rpg and i think its 3d and have pre rend backgrounds.

Hey, great list, but, I didn't find the one I'm searching, it was a RPG I remeber played at PS1 like 2000/2002, you were a boy in a village, you start going around the houses and talking to the people, one of them said something about giant rats they saw the other nigth/day and your mission is to find out what was it, as you're investigating it goes dark, like nigth time and it's raining and you're holding a lanttern, I remember gettin out the village like for the next stage and you were in like a other village but it was like burnt out or destroyed, everything looked like a fall season, I been trying to find that game for manytime, if you know anything let me know please 😉 nice video editing by the way 👍

@@hadriendonzel7588 No, it's not that one, the burnt out village it's more like a second level, on the first level you are in your own village, then you go for a walk and you're in like an neighboor village and it's all like destroyed and burnt out but still there are some houses and stuff

PS1 was a great era, but there aren't really any games I'd care to go back and play... Maybe a few just so I can actually finish them off. I was notorious for playing 80 percent of the game just to quit.

I have looked everywhere, every single PS1 game list and video. I still can’t find the game I’m looking for, can anyone help?? You play as what I think was a Native American but you can also play as a Knight (I think she was female) and another character that I don’t remember at all. Their stories would intermingle too. For example the Knight character kills the Native American’s little brother in one scene. Please somebody help. It’s like it doesn’t exist.

missed one, i can't remember nothing about, the only thing a remember is, you start in the outside of a ship at night (i think) and its raining , you character is a girl. but you will recruting ppl to your party, is a turn base, the camera is similar to Chrono Trigger and the CD is an anime style art.

i think the game have a pre-rendered graphics.
Its game where the main char(young guy) wake up in a bed of small room, then suddenly appear a cutscene where its having a earthquake in flying school, and when main char get out of room he go up by stairs, where its like a dungeon with like a cave, where suddenly appear a huge boss from pit that have a form of dragon something like that.
Its a rpg by turns like FFVIII and he was fighting boss alone.

I think it was rpg.. after the first 5-10 minutes it had a scene similar to when sethoroth killed the female party member in ff7
But it was the players main charaxter (I think).. the party (you and two others( changed depending on the name you had and a few other questions (I think).
After this first area.. there was a city by an ocean you go to.. with an old man you have to fight, i can't discribe more beacuse ive never played past that(my disc was scratched sorry).. i want to know what this game was!.. i want to find it again

That is very vague, saving the world is like the most common thing you do in JRPGs.
Tales of Phantasia had a sick mother at the beginning, but on PS1 you can play it only with fan translation. It has many ports though and originally is from SNES.

Actually, there was an RPG dungeon crawler aspect to Ehrgeiz as well. The footage shown in this video is correct.
