Wow you guys are a lifesaver! Thought I had it constructed correctly until I watched this video redid it and wow perfect thanks again for sharing especially the idea on adding washers
Almost bought one of these but luckily had a friend show up with a full size westy bed for ours! Always wanted to see how these went together though. Having a bed in a bus is so nice.
Nice. A factory made westy bed is probably way better. This one was a pain if you couldn’t tell. Definitely going to buy the Rusty Lee one from the UK once I get other projects done and if they are shipping to the US again. Also love the look of your bus in your profile pic. 😍
@@callalilycollectivecan you include a link to the rusty Lee after watching your video I’m honestly considering returning this items. They shipped it to me without instructions on top of it.
@@jackburleigh213 unfortunately Rust Lee still isn’t shipping outside of the UK, but I haven’t tried reaching out to them. I don’t have a direct link but some Googlefu should find it easily. If you dig into old forums this seat has never come with instructions (hence why this video keeps getting views 😅). Honestly easier to fabricate one from scratch.
When there is a problem in the house leading to arguments that won't stop I just grab the keys and go turn on the bus and just lay in the back and imagen where I could be off to. @@callalilycollective
I purchased and returned this same seat when I realized how reclined it remains when upright. There are a few great options out of the UK to use instead.
Which one did you end up going with? I plan on getting the Rusty Lee once they start shipping to the US again. Our bus only takes short trips to the beach and usually keep the rear seat in bed form once there to relax on. Will need a better seat when we start driving further.
Thanks. Based on some Reddit discussion I’m going to bite the bullet and order the Rusty Lee rock and roll seat from the UK. Wish I would’ve found that one first.
any chance you're in Northern California? looking for help with installing mine. Have it all dry assembled but putting into the bus is a challenge and have never bolted anything to the bus. Directions sure are crap! Don't think I got all the pieces either... Great video! Thanks
Define Northern California 😂. We’re in SF Bay Peninsula area, but our schedules are pretty swamped for the foreseeable future though. Happy to at least answer specific questions and send photos of how we did it. An instagram DM might be easier to send you photos through. Feel free to reach out there 🤙
Cancel and order the Rusty Lee one from the UK. This one fits buses but involves a lot of work to get it to fit nicely, and even after the sitting position is uncomfortable. What I thought would be a weekend job took 3 weekends to cut it and weld it so it fit and functioned properly. It also has no instructions. So you’ll want to pay attention to how I have it assembled. Was a lot of trial and error.
Its already been shipped, sad thing is that the one you just mentioned is not that much more expensive. It says the max length is around 56" from what I remember, and I planned on having it the full length. Do you think I would still need to do the cutting and welding?
@@kimhawk5228 Yes, mine is full length in our 73. I welded because the self taping screws it includes were garbage, and I wanted it more stable. Also one of the feet was off, so I cut it and welded back to fit better. The seat is "good enough" if you can figure out how to make it work. It just takes a lot of work to make it work. Hopefully my video makes it a little easier from you, since mine was a lot of trial and error.
@@callalilycollective Thank you. Yes your video has been helpful, but honestly this thing is so confusing that I keep the video paused on each section just to figure out which direction most of the items go lol. No instructions in the box, but was able to print out the instructions from Just Kampers where CIP1 actually gets it from. Those instructions are pretty much trash as well, but it's something. Thank you for posting the video, although this may be more than I bargained for, we will see how it turns out.

You're welcome! A lot of these CIP1 products have no support, so I like to provide what I can to the community.

Thanks Robert! Appreciate you checking it out 🤙. When are we going to see wood working videos from you ?
Like the day after Chrismas when you couldn't wait for the morin'n to put your new model together, it's the same w/ me
Felt like Christmas when you open it, much less enjoyable while trying to get it took work.

I bought the same one and removed it too. Not a good design. Got the stock one and made it full width from NLA VW Parts. Really happy with it 😊
How was the return experience? Were they easy to deal with?

Purchased the same seat, waiting for arrival. Why did you cut it initially, says it fits late model bay's?

The worst bed frame. I threw mine away . 😢 Buy the heritage parts one
Ya it’s trash. The heritage one looks way better but someone gave it 1 star. I’m thinking of getting the Rusty Lee one.
Rusty Lee wouldn't ship to me but the heritage one is solid! Been using it for three years, in a vanagon though .
