Marty giving the Mini the love it deserves. Thank mate. Too many people being all grown-up about the Mini, while the whole package is actually so enjoyable and the build quality and waterproofing seems remarkably good. I just received my Mini with street tires a few days ago, but don't want / cant go out riding just yet because the streets are covered in either ice or salty water. Thaw will be setting in tomorrow - stoked!
@@tryeverything3666 design wise it has seals for all of the points that water could get into the control board housing. I've ridden through whatever rain we've gotten and it's not been an issue
You are the Range Test guru! Seriously you dedication to consistency is awesome…. Also the fact you’ve moved up your avg speed is good too as normal riding speeds are 40kph or more(I know you hate km😂).
As already said, i found your Range tests as most scientific as they could get for that ONE ride situation! Same temp, same rider, same way…perfect. I would GUESS that in a much more “stop and go” scenario, or even when riding UP a hill constantly the Mini would get better in comparison to the Master. Just because a smaller wheel needs muss less amperage for such acceleration/climbing situations, than a bigger wheel. Just saying! Again, that should not take ANYTHING away from your great range comparisons, as what you are doing is a crusing comparison and meets YOUR needs at most! Good and intersting vid as always!
Another sizable "plus" in the Mini's favor (vs. Patton) is the lower price of the Mini. Hopefully, if Marty makes the Patton vs. Mini video, he compares the suspension. I have the Patton and do like the smooth & quiet suspension. The range is pretty good too.
The Patton suspension is certainly softer than the Mini's. I don't have a Patton and it's kind of an older wheel now so I won't be creating any content about it. Sorry.
I own quite a few wheels (mten4, V8s, S18, V13) but I just bought a Master & Mini Commander this last Christmas. I normally ride my V13 around 30miles to work in the summer and was lookin foward to maybe riding the 2 new wheels to work but didn’t know if they would make it, especially the mini. Thank you for this video, it personally helps me out & I find it interesting that the Mini actually has just as much range as the master. The only thing I am still interested in seeing is if this stays true for higher speeds, because I normal avg closer to high 30’s mph and for a good 20min I come close to toppin them out, I run 55mph on my v13 in a certain section, so I know I’ll probably run 48-52mph on both (always give myself extra head room on Begodes) so I am curious to see if range stays the same at higher speeds. I really enjoyed this video it was extremely informative for my personal situation. Thank you and keep on ridin & recording 👊
Hey, let me know how your wheels do perform similarly at the higher speeds. I suspect you won't end up riding the Mini at the same higher speeds as the Master due to the general higher stability of the Master (20-inch vs 16-inch).
@@ElectricUnicycles will do, I’ll probably ride one for a week straight & then ride the other one for a week, I’ll let you know. (Of course when it warms up a little, i live in Louisville, KY) The mini I normal try to ride close to max speed of 48mph (top speed I had it before tilt back kick on at 52) my master I have it up to 56mph and did not feel tilt back, but I limit myself to 52mph. So I truly will only be goin 4mph faster in that 20min spot, but you are right, I avg a much higher speed on my master then the mini because of the smaller wheel, (same as you did in the video) I think due to Wind, bumps, you name it the smaller wheels feel like your going faster that your goin rather on a big wheel feels slower. 55mph is much smoother on a V13 than 55mph on a master. So yeah I’d be curious to see with a higher speed avg if range stays the same. With all that said I would still say I love them both and the mini is currently probably my favorite on the street & my modded S18 with a dirt tire for off-road, it’s just so nimble and light. Take care & I’ll be in touch
Have you by chance taken your battery packs off and tightened the bolts on the commander mini? Mine was making a bit of a knocking sound after about 40 miles. I would turn it on and jerk it back and fourth and would hear it. I found some loose battery bolts like you pointed out in your unboxing. Tightening those seems to have settled the sound I was hearing. It makes me want to take the packs off and check the inside bolts. Not sure. Might do it after I'm able to ride it more. Winter here in the Midwest is killing me. Can't wait to get back out there!
Yes, as one of the “first recievers” i also recognized that the motor bolts were not very tight! I also later received this knocking sound, found the motor bolts to come loose again. NOW i have thrown some Locktide blue on all motor bolts, and since then, no more problems. So seams to be good advice todo that. Has to be said that this is more probably coming, when you do a lot stop and go/commuting. When you just and only do longtime cruise it might work for longer without locktide.
Marty, my heart has been set on the cmini but the Lynx is an appealing option aswell. I know this is apples to oranges but do you still enjoy the mini now that you also have a Lynx?
I contend that the Mini is still a great wheel but the Lynx is much better IMO. The Lynx has a much more luxurious suspension and it's one of the best riding wheels that I've experienced. Much more stable than the Mini at 20+ mph speeds. As you say, they are fundamentally different types of wheel. The Lynx is my go-to EUC unless I need the range of a 3600wh wheel.
Abolute awesome. Mini and Master are so similar, that 12" rim to 14" is big size different but perform the same. You did 91km with a 2400wh battery 2400/91 = 26w.h p/km I feel achual capacity is 2150/91km = 23.1w.h p/km Good ranged wheels.
That’s not what I expected at all. That’s cool that they get the same range at a consistent speed. Do you think the mini would get worse range when pushing it at a higher speed? I’ve noticed the mini has more battery sag than the master going 35-40mph the entire time as well.
Check out the Ride One review of the Mini on YT. If I recall correctly they went around 84kmph tops. And around 79 kmph SITTING, at half charge. Very relaxing video too BTW.
@@harryhalfmoon I'm just hoping I can sit safely at 80kph for a few KMs straight, I ride along a long beach road on my V12 and sit at 70kph for the entire road and feel pretty safe doing so. I had an MSP that also did 70kph but I didn't feel as confident pushing those speeds on it.
Hey boys and girls, what time is it! Range test time!
Enjoying every minute of it😍😍!

I'm in the same boat. Got my Mini right as the freezing, snow and salt season hit.
Can't wait for it to warm up
Been really annoyed with how little coverage the mini has been getting considering whenever it does get covered it seems to outperform. I love mine.
How well is it protected from riding in the rain?

Hi Marty, very surprising result, I think that says alot for the Mini. Planes, trains, and EUC's at 17:42.
I believe that EB commander gt (not gt PRO) is the best value all around EUC for now. It's because of the balance of this wheel.
Thank you Marty for all your hard work. It would be great to have also similar range test on Veteran Patton.
I don't have access to a Patton. Sorry.

I agree with everything, love my mini. It is the perfect size for me. With gear I’m at 136lbs, my mileage is a little better. Thank you
