That's why I love Strauss, too. HD is better if you like a really high fat ice cream. I like the mouthfeel of Strauss better, but I might be in the minority.
Yes - it DOES - because Häagen-Dazs only uses pure vanilla extract. They also use the highest quality Madagascar vanilla beans - which are far more flavorful (and hence expensive) than those from Indonesia. I used to work for a flavor company that sold to Häagen-Dazs - and their standards were notoriously high: The bundles of beans had to be plump and fresh, and free from mold, cuts or other blemishes. It’s very sad reading some of the comments on this video. The American palate has become so corrupted by artificial flavorings, cheap sweeteners, gums, additives and preservatives that it no longer appreciates high-quality food over adulterated versions. When kids are brought up with certain flavors, they usually end up developing an affinity for them, associate the taste with nostalgia and the comforts of home - even if what they’re consuming is of low value. I read one guy waxing poetic about his favorite ice cream brand melting “into the perfect thick milkshake.” Except that REAL ice cream melts into a liquid - NOT a frothy thick sludge. Milkshakes are SUPPOSED be made by blending milk with frozen ice cream to obtain that characteristic soft, thick, drink - which is ALSO supposed to melt into a liquid. The FDA has really allowed a lot of garbage to come to market - and it’s little wonder we have the health problems that we do.
@@jenniferlynn3537 You absolutely nailed it. I only buy Haagen-Dazs for my husband & me. None of the ARTIFICIAL FILLERS, ETC. - Europeans have a history of real food & HG is all real compared to the others. Blue Bell Homestyle Vanilla is by far the best!! Biased since I’m from Texas, but I’ve had and enjoyed a lot, and nothing compares to Blue Bells taste and texture.
I always always, get Blue Bell. At first we didn’t get Blue Bell in our area. When my husband learned that we would get it here, he said that he was glad because it was better than any of the ones that we had then. I po,poed what he said. HOWEVER, fortunately ice cream is sweet, so I didn’t mind having to eat my words. 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦😋😋😋😋😋😅😅😅😅😅🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You know thats right brother and sisters! Bluebell has that unforgettable happiness taste factor others miss. The other are good but not as good in my opinion. But eat what makes you happy. Peace!
I grew up in the south and homemade ice cream was a staple at family gatherings. If you’ve ever had this made-from-scratch ice cream then the only brand that comes close to being equal is Blue Bell. Some of the others may be good but not as good as Blue Bell.
I do love the BB, but actually it is made in several other states now including Alabama where I am. I had the chance to drive to College Station when I lived in Houston for some work at A & M. I not only went by the site left where the best little whorehouse in Texas was located, but also got to drive by the BB farm in Brenham. And yes, the cows looked very contented
My great aunt lived in Brenham, Texas and owned a small grocery store and as a child in the 50’s and 60’s I used to spend time with her on school vacations. I remember eating Blue Bell ice cream and was so excited when they started expanding their sales area. I live near Dallas and Blue Bell is the only vanilla ice cream I will buy.
I LOVE love Costco's own brand Kirkland Vanilla ice Cream. I think it has 3 ingredients, milk, cream and sugar. Its dense, creamy, not too sweet, and delicious. Best ever.
It has to have some emulsifiers and stabilizers in it. My dad had 30 years of making ice cream experience and I worked with him for a little while but you got to have some type of emulsifier or stabilizer in it
You should read the label again, Lynnie. Kirkland Vanilla Ice Cream contains fresh cream, skim milk, sugar, pasteurized egg yolks, vanilla extract, carob bean gum, and guar gum. If it only had milk, cream, and sugar it would taste bland, and they couldn't legally call it "vanilla" ice cream if it didn't have any vanilla.
@@lynnie57 Yeah, it's good stuff. I'm diabetic, so I only have it in small amounts on special occasions, but when I do it's one of my favorite brands. I also make my own ice cream from time to time, but with a Costco close to home they're a faster and cheaper option.
Yes! I’m so glad you said this. I totally agree. I’ve also wondered this. They seem too engaged with what’s going on and they seem too comfortable with acting like they don’t have cameras pointing on them. I say it’s stock video or extras…not normal people.
Too bad they don't include Costco's Kirkland brand. They only have one flavor, vanilla. It comes in a two-pack - two actual half-gallons, not those shrunken containers everyone else seems to have gone to. I like it very much. im a blue bell convert, holy cow, it is so rich and thick it has to sit for 30 min to soften cause its so dense. And if you let it melt all the way down? Perfect milk shake honestly!
Tillamook Old fashioned vanilla is hands down the best and never gets rock hard in freezer so easier to serve too. If you are vegan, my son says Forager Vanilla Bean flavor is best.
Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla is now my favorite, but back in the day, Borden's vanilla was the best. I wish they still made ice cream. Heck. I wish we still had milk men.
Back in the 70’s when my brother and I spent the night at my grandparents house, my Grandmother bought both kinds of Borden Vanilla ice cream because I liked the traditional one in the blue carton and my brother liked the golden vanilla. And my grandmother always accidentally stuck her thumb through my cone! Sweet memories.
They used to have a Borden’s ice cream parlor in downtown Houston but sometime in the late 70’s or early 80’s there was a big explosion there and they never rebuilt it.
Milk Men?...LOL the last time I saw one of those was in 1966 or so...it was Foremost Dairy. Since my Mom was a weekly customer, Foremost offered Child Photos, they drove up to the House with a Cab Over pulling a Trailer, White and Orange paint job. Inside the Trailer was the photo studio... I remember. Mom still has some of those photos all over the house... I was 4 then.
I moved from Texas to Wyoming in 2001. The worst part was leaving Blue Bell behind. But thank God Wyoming finally saw the light. I can now get all the Blue Bell ice cream I desire.
Live 10 minutes away from a super large Walmart Super Center but no Blue Bell. I'd have to drive into Pittsburgh with much traffic.. 28 miles away. Lovely, scenic, rivers.....may ask mgr. to order Blue Blue Bell if I have a few signature requests. Thanks for your comment. Baby boomer whose 2nd home is Walmart followed by Lowes both nearby.
Tillamook has the most creamy ice cream I've ever had! Love the creamery so much! They also sell cheese, yogurt. Haven't tried those, I bet they are not bad as well. Anyway, I recommend trying that brand of ice cream out! 👍
I buy their medium cheddar cheese and like their yogurt but feel compelled to warn anyone and everyone to steer clear of their butter. Oh my gosh, I’d rather eat margarine than Tillamook butter. Ghastly!
@@michellejoy6752 I’ve never come across their butter in any stores. Why exactly do you think it taste ghastly ? I’ll still steer clear if I ever see it, but I was just curious (does it taste spoiled, rancid, artificial, chemical, like feet, etc.). TIA.
Just so you're aware, Tillamook creamery is a totally different corporate entity than the cheesemaker. There was a trademark dispute long ago, and they were both allowed to keep the name. Now that they're both national, they seem to be benefitting from the confusion. Not that either brand isn't any good! EDIT: I'm wrong on this, see my later message in the reply chain. Had it been mayonnaise posing as butter, he may not of noticed. But Tillamook butter posing as butter, even my husband noticed. Their cheese and yogurt are very good.
My siblings would agree too! Years ago they did a vanilla test on me like this to prove the difference with regular vanilla and some other brands 😆. The vanilla Bean Haagen Daas was far and away the best. Although I will give the Ben & Jerry’s a go.
@@stardroplet9499 It really is a large step up from most vanilla ice creams. Exactly! HD for the win in MY house, too. I think they're the last company that doesn't use a lot of fillers; it's delicious ice cream and oddly, doesn't spike my blood sugar that much which MUST mean that it has a lot of fat in it which is a good thing.
Depending on the pint you buy it can be really dense and sometimes even icy. It's good ice cream, I wouldn't refuse, but I wouldn't declare it the winner because of its toughness.
Thank you! I was just getting ready to comment about Tillamook when I saw this... It's become my favorite, so much better than Turkey Hill and Ben and Jerry's!

I wouldn't know. I've never made it beyond the rum raisin, the vanilla swiss almond, and vanilla bean. I'm afraid I'd end up in the poor house if I tried the others.
@@totallyunmemorableVanilla Swiss Almond is my fav, by far! Also great in a parfait layered with Nutella and a mix of fresh berries and topped with whipped cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about it :)
If that's what you like, that's fine. We did a blind taste taste at my restaurant with myself, my wife, two chefs, 8 restaurant personnel, and a few guests right before closing - and Haagen Dazs didn't place all that well. The one that won came from a local premium copacker which is what we still use.
Wow. It is amazing what people consider good. Häagen-Dazs has a ridiculous name, but their vanilla and vanilla bean ice creams are the best grocery store vanilla ice creams by far. Vanilla contains: cream, skim milk, cane sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. The vanilla bean flavor also has ground vanilla beans after the egg yolks. For those who say it is icy, you must be getting it on a deep sale after the store's freezer gave out and it thawed and re-froze. It is usually naturally creamy due to the high fat and egg yolk content, unlike the other brands that have so many fillers. I guess people think those taste creamy, but to me they taste greasy and waxy and fake. Ben and Jerry's? Their third ingredient is liquid sugar (sugar and water) and the fourth ingredient is WATER! And it has fillers like guar gum and carrageenan to try to make it artificially creamier. Gross. People in the comments also seem to think Blue Bell "Homemade" vanilla is the best. Are they insane? It has high fructose corn syrup, artificial vanilla flavor, cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, carob bean, and annatto color (to give it a bit of an orange tint as if it actually contains egg yolk, which it does not. Maybe people convince themselves stuff like Turkey Hill actually tastes good because it costs seven times less than Häagen-Dazs. I don't get it. I'd much rather have 14 oz of Häagen-Dazs than 3 quarts of these artificial brands.
I totally agree, and was thinking the same thing. Aside from Haagen-Dazs, the other brands have lots of junk and fillers. Haagen-Dazs has the best ingredients.
Agreed wholeheartedly* fillers and stabilizers in my ice cream, no thanks! Btw, the {vanilla bean truffle with bourbon} is outstanding from the Hagendaz Spirits Line-up!😊💚*
I agree that HD has the most natural flavor, but B&J ice cream is still very good, and probably second only to HD for national brands. But due to the fillers in that ice cream, it has to take a backseat to HD.
Here is what's in Bluebell vanilla: Milk, cream, sugar, skim milk, high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial vanilla flavor, cellulose gum, vegetable gums (guar, carrageenan, carob bean), salt, annatto color. Not good ingredients at all but Texans love their Bluebell, but they never ever rank high in taste tests.
@@rs5419 "cream, skim milk, cane sugar, egg yolks and vanilla extract" Looks like egg yolks is the only difference as far as health is concerned. Cane sugar is no better than high fructose corn syrup. Cellulose gum is just fiber.

@@QIKWIA That's not true at all. "Real ice cream" is regulated by milk solid and fat content, not the use of egg. Egg is commonly used as an emulsifier, and can help ice cream keep its shape as it melts. I'd prefer ice cream to just have egg instead of the common fillers in most store bought ice creams like gum guar and carrageenan. Ive even seen gelatin used. The most easily accessible pure ice cream brand is Haagen Dazs.
I've tried a lot of these brands, and Haagen-Dazs is far and away the best. Not sure where the criticism of it being too icy comes from. A lot of the other ones I've eaten frequently have a texture that is too soft or slimy by comparison, to say nothing of their comparatively subpar flavor.

Vanilla ice cream should only contain 3-4 basic ingredients, or be disqualified. Cream/Milk, White Sugar, Pure Vanilla Extract. Most of the brands on that shelf use low fat milk and corn syrup because it's cheaper, and then add carrageenan to thicken it. The resulting "ice cream" is quite vile.
Ben and Jerry's used to be the best. Then they started substituting quality for cheaper ingredients. Just look at the labels. All chemicals now. Made me sick to my stomach.. I still like Haagen Dazs for the price

@@kojimasan444 So.....I've never heard of Turkey Hill here on the West Coast, so does that mean it doesn't merit being tested?? What a ridiculous arguement!
Ingredients matter. Keep it minimal. No gum or preservatives. Decades ago, an ice cream distributor friend of mine old me to compare the weight of 2 different ice cream brands. Pint, quart or gallon, it doesn't matter. He said the heavier one will have less air whipped into it. He was right! That's one reason why I like Haggen Dazs Vanilla. Just 5 ingredients...Cream, Skim Milk, Egg Yokes, Sugar and Vanilla extract. As with everything, quality doesn't come cheap.
Haagen-Dazs is the best. Sad it didn't make the final cut. Made with fewer, better and known ingredients than competitors. Look at the label folks- who wants a list of 50 unpronounceable components. Pound for pound, Turkey Hill is hard to beat and their "All Natural" line is terrific. Minimal ingredients and great homemade taste... but I'm biased, being from Central PA.
Agreed. Only 30 min from the Turkey Hill factory. Also important note is the difference between a frozen dairy dessert and ice cream. Ice cream is what you think it is. Frozen dairy dessert is when there are so many fillers and non cream ingredients they can't legally call it ice cream anymore. Look on the containers the next time you're in the store. Haagen Dazs for the win. It's the only one without corn syrup and hydrogenated oils and fillers/emulsifiers/homogenizers. It has just a few ingredients and is BY FAR the only good choice for ice cream. The taste is perfect, it's dense and creamy with no air. It's the only ice cream I buy.
Häagen-Dazs is NOT an ice cream. It is a CUSTARD! It has eggs. It may have no air, zero corn syrup, and no other additives. However, Haagen-Dazs has changed the recipe. It is now not as creamy as it used to be. Why? The answer is in the ingredients list. Haagen-Dazs used to use condensed milk. Now they use skim milk, which is likely more watery. It apparently has changed the taste very subtly; it seems it is now not as creamy and yummy as it used to be. I can taste the lower satisfactory taste it leaves me with. So have many others, who have picked up on the taste being less satisfying.
@@Wateringman Well, you don't know your definitions of ice cream, do you? Ice cream can come with eggs or without. It only changes into frozen custard when it has MUCH MORE egg yolk added to it than regular ice cream (and less air mixed into it).
@@chrissygerwitz520 Ice cream has no eggs in it. Period. Eggs make it a custard. Now, some people for marketing purposes decided to BS, and claim that for ice cream to be called a custard, it must have more than 1.4 percent eggs. Wrong. True ice cream has no eggs whatsoever. Some others use eggs and still call it ice cream because eggs are the only emulsifiers they use. I believe they call that "organic ice cream". Too many blur the truth, all for the sake of marketing. Ice cream carries no eggs by tradition. And if you put enough eggs into ice cream, it is no longer a custard. Its called French Style Ice Cream.
@@Wateringman Oh boy. It is not my intention to educate you, but understand this: Ice cream made without eggs (Philadelphia-style ice cream) and ice cream made with eggs (French-style ice cream) are both true and legitimate forms of ice cream. Frozen custard is a similar, but different product than French-style vanilla ice cream (or "French Vanilla," if you will). Among other differences, French Vanilla ice cream is a hard product and frozen custard is served soft. Got it now? If not, then there is nothing else I can say to you.
@@chrissygerwitz520 Dear Chrissy, as I have understood it, the Phyladelphia style Ice Cream was created for the specific purpose of getting away from the labor intensive effort, employed to make French Ice Cream which is custard base. The US wanted something fast and soft enough, to stuff into cones. Philadelphia style had to have a certain amount of fat, to be considered "Ice Cream" That differentiated the American Style of ice cream from the French Custard Style. Hence the consideration of Ice Cream not having eggs, here in the United States. We are not in France. Whatever they want to call it in France is their business. But you must not use the French recipe an style, and then call it Ice Cream. Call it what it is. A custard ice confection. As far as soft serve versus hard product, it all comes down to the amount of fat, and air churned into the mixture, However, for rule of thumb regardless, anything containing eggs is considered a custard. Now why would companies like Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's fight tooth and nail to call their egg concoctions an Ice Cream and not a custard based frozen cream. Marketing. Read the calories in the Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's vs true eggless ice creams. That would more likely allienate people away from Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's because of the calories they provide.
The Halo was not top three, it was the worst. One factor that can spoil the reviews of ice cream is whether the container was rather freshly made or in the freezer for too long (potential freezer burn), and another factor is whether it was always stored at the proper temperature so that the ice cream did not melt and RE-freeze.
I love the Haagen Dazs chocolate, midnight cookies and cream, chocolate chocolate chip, and their other flavors but their vanilla ice cream is not great to me because it is too sweet.

The little creamery in Brenham got it goin on.
I been liking Blue Bell since I found it in Alaska in the 1980’s. It is the best ice cream

Peace!
Natural Vanilla Blue Bell is awesome! 🍦🍨👍👍👍👍
I grew up in the south and homemade ice cream was a staple at family gatherings. If you’ve ever had this made-from-scratch ice cream then the only brand that comes close to being equal is Blue Bell. Some of the others may be good but not as good as Blue Bell.
I don’t like blue bell (& too many ingredients) does homemade ice cream taste like blue bell? I hope not
As an Ice Cream Lover, my all time favorite is Blue Bell Homemade Ice Cream made in Texas. The BEST!!!
I agree!
Totally agree!
Most definitely!!!!
Good thing I'm not the cook! Stiil, it is sooo yummy. Lots of calories, though!
@@lynnie57 Yeah, it's good stuff. I'm diabetic, so I only have it in small amounts on special occasions, but when I do it's one of my favorite brands. I also make my own ice cream from time to time, but with a Costco close to home they're a faster and cheaper option.
It my favorite. Just had to go have a small bowl watching this. Yum!
Every time I see one of these episodes I can’t figure out if the audience is real or weird stock footage. They always have an infomercial vibe.
You're right about that... You never see the audience in the same shot as the host
The production values of these segments are odd for TH-cam content. But I do watch them ;)
Yes! I’m so glad you said this. I totally agree. I’ve also wondered this. They seem too engaged with what’s going on and they seem too comfortable with acting like they don’t have cameras pointing on them. I say it’s stock video or extras…not normal people.
I like these episodes, but it's obvious the audience is fake. Either they are paid dorky actors, or stock footage like you suggested.
0:01 except......you see them LOL
Blue Bell is my choice hands down.
Too bad they don't include Costco's Kirkland brand. They only have one flavor, vanilla. It comes in a two-pack - two actual half-gallons, not those shrunken containers everyone else seems to have gone to. I like it very much. The ingredients list:
Fresh Cream, Skim Milk, Sugar, Pasteurized Egg Yolks, Vanilla Extract, Carob Bean Gum and Guar Gum.
I googled the winner, Turkey Hill. Ingredients: Milk, Cream, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Nonfat Milk, Whey, Natural And Artificial Flavors, Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Mono & Diglycerides, Carrageenan, Annatto Color.
i suggest you google Haagen-Daz
Yes, Costco hands down!
Yep! I believe it’s made by Humboldt Creamery!
Now I want to try Kirkland.
The only ice cream I eat. It’s delicious.
im a blue bell convert, holy cow, it is so rich and thick it has to sit for 30 min to soften cause its so dense. And if you let it melt all the way down? Perfect milk shake honestly!

thats good to know for lactose people too
The texture is soooooooo smooth!
@@tangyjoe4326 Borden's was soooo rich and great. You could taste the condensed milk, probably had thousands of calories in a half gallon.

TIA.
Yuuup. Without question the creamiest ice cream
It turns out there was meat smoker who used the tillamook name, NOT another dairy company!
@@pommedivan6908 It tastes like shortening (literally). Had it been mayonnaise posing as butter, he may not of noticed. But Tillamook butter posing as butter, even my husband noticed. Their cheese and yogurt are very good.

Bleck! Its so icy! No creaminess at all.

The one that won came from a local premium copacker which is what we still use.
Haagen dazs best of all - and pure simple ingredients
Amen ! The Best !
For me, the purist, Haagen Daz Vanilla has an ‘off’ taste.
Btw, the {vanilla bean truffle with bourbon} is outstanding from the Hagendaz Spirits Line-up!😊💚*
You don't know what you're talkin about! It's garbage is full of guar gum, xanthan gum and other rat piss!
I agree that HD has the most natural flavor, but B&J ice cream is still very good, and probably second only to HD for national brands. But due to the fillers in that ice cream, it has to take a backseat to HD.

(Made with egg yolks)
@@QIKWIA That's not true at all. "Real ice cream" is regulated by milk solid and fat content, not the use of egg. Frozen dairy dessert is when there are so many fillers and non cream ingredients they can't legally call it ice cream anymore. Look on the containers the next time you're in the store. You'll see the difference right away on the packages.
Turkey hill is absolutely horrendous
Ritchey’s, Meyer’s in State College, and of course, the Creamery at PSU. (Where Ben and Jerry took a course on how to make Ice cream)
Love Blue Bell homemade vanilla.
I recently tried the vanilla ice cream from Trader Joe’s. It was one of the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had.
I believe TJ’s is a re-branding of Double Rainbow, a boutique super-premium ice cream out of San Francisco.
@@AnothrGtrPlyr thanks. It definitely tastes very good
I’ve been surprised how good the Trader Joe’s Vanilla is.
Where is Haagen Dazs in this ranking??
They didn't pay to play. It's by far the best national brand.
It’s the best!
Sure, but if your waistline is a concern, HaloTop is awesome! If you eat less sugar, stick to a low sugar diet, your taste preferences change, and Halo Top fits in that kind of diet.
Correct. Halo is very good if you need a healthier alternative to super premium ice creams such as Hagen Dazs, but it has no place in this contest. Comparing apples to oranges.
Halo is ok for diet stuff but it certainly doesn’t compare to the best real ice creams.
I’ve tried most of the brands and Blue Bell is the best. Tried Tillamook awhile back and it was very good and creamy
but still pick Blue Bell.
I agree.
Hands down, it’s the Homemade Vanilla made by Bluebell Ice Cream in Brenham Texas.
That Li’l ol’ Creamery where “They eat all they can and sell the rest”😉
Ya'all have it right, Mona.
Ew blue bell is disgusting
@@UCFBusinessAdministration It's literally the very best, you're probably a big fan of Dairy Queen's "ice cream". To me Haagen-Daz tastes like they used flour to thicken it up!
Artificial flavors and corn syrup. 🤮
@@catherinelw9365 Man (or woman) can not live by kale alone!
Best vanilla ice cream I'd recommend is Humboldt. They're primarily on the west coast but I pick them up from Costco out here on the east.
When my family visits from California, they load my freezer up with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla and binge on ice cream while they’re here in Texas!
Can’t take anyone seriously who doesn’t choose Blue Bell vanilla.
Here is what you are eating with Bluebell: Milk, cream, sugar, skim milk, high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial vanilla flavor, cellulose gum, vegetable gums (guar, carrageenan, carob bean), salt, annatto color.
Those are crap ingredients.
@@rs5419 What do you eat.

Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream for warm and doughy desserts like cobbler and cake,
Tillamook Vanilla Bean for fancier desserts.
Blue Bells is the best hands down.
I was looking for someone to say this, l love Blue Bells! 😊
@@janedoe805 I come from a family of ice cream addicts, we all thing Blue Bell is the best. Before Blue Bell was sold in Virginia, my brother used to drive 600 miles around trip to buy a bunch of Blue Bell. I’m in Texas so I can get it anywhere. 🍨
This was suuper interesting. I love the science behind our foods we eat and enjoy!
And the shade thrown at Halo Top made me laugh so hard!
Where did Blue Bell fall in the taste test? It's expensive but soooo gooood!
Ingredients for Bluebell: Milk, cream, sugar, skim milk, high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial vanilla flavor, cellulose gum, vegetable gums (guar, carrageenan, carob bean), salt, annatto color.
Enough said.
As far as soft serve versus hard product, it all comes down to the amount of fat, and air churned into the mixture,
However, for rule of thumb regardless, anything containing eggs is considered a custard.
Now why would companies like Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's fight tooth and nail to call their egg concoctions an Ice
Cream and not a custard based frozen cream. Marketing. Read the calories in the Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's vs true eggless ice creams. That would more likely allienate people away from Haagen-Dazs, and Ben & Jerry's because of the calories they provide.
Blue Bell Homemade is my favorite by far.
If you don't have Tillamook, you don't have a proper contest.
exactly my thought!
Or Grater’s…or McConnell’s
Just tried Tillamook this past week. I'm never buying anything else.
I concur
Yep Tillamook is the best!
Strauss organic!! I don’t think it’s available except on the west coast! Absolutely delicious, and beats all of these!
Maggie, let's say you and I Netflix and Chill with some Strauss. When we're done licking ice cream we can continue with each other!

How did you come down to those three? Kind of hard to believe that Haagen-Dazs isn't in the top 3. How do the others rank?
The Halo was not top three, it was the worst.
One factor that can spoil the reviews of ice cream is whether the container was rather freshly made or in the freezer for too long (potential freezer burn), and another factor is whether it was always stored at the proper temperature so that the ice cream did not melt and RE-freeze.
I love the Haagen Dazs chocolate, midnight cookies and cream, chocolate chocolate chip, and their other flavors but their vanilla ice cream is not great to me because it is too sweet.
@@Michael-zn2jc Try their Belgian Chocolate flavor with little flecks of dark chocolate.

I like Blue Bell vanilla ice cream better then the rest. I tried all of them except Halo, I never heard of.
The best vanilla ice ceam ive had so far is....homemade! Seriously, no churn vanilla ice cream is super easy to make (no salts, eggs or machines) and beats all the brands by far...i always add a bit more vanilla so the flavor is off the chart!
For a truly "homemade Vanilla" taste then Blue Bell is the best. For more of an "super premium" then Ben & Jerry's is good, but so is the Premium Select from Aldi

Hey man I’ve tried almost all of these brands and blue bell is the best but the absolute best grocery store vanilla is Aldi super premium vanilla (black carton). And it’s way cheaper than most comparable brands. Do yourself a favor and try it. I got fed up with lack of taste so I started buying different brands after the blue bell issues a few yrs ago. Tried Costco trader joe Häagen-Dazs is ridiculously expensive and after trying just about every brand I decided to give the Aldi super premium brand a chance. As soon as I tasted it it was exactly what I envisioned a great vanilla tasted like. Heavy fat creamy sweet buttery flavor with great aftertaste also. And you really taste the vanilla (French).
Costco brand is very good! No fillers or air!!
Trader Joe’s French vanilla is amazing. (quality ingredients too)
They don’t use real vanilla extract. Isn’t as good as real vanilla extract ice cream.

@@Dirty_Bear22 Thanks for the reply. I have Haagen Dazs and Trader Joe’s in the freezer right now. You are correct, Haagen Dazs does make a very good vanilla. It’s one of my favorite treats so the quality of ice cream really does make all the difference. May you enjoy quality vanilla ice cream for many years to come. Blessings
Agree! TJs vanilla is amazing.
HD is good too. Never did a simultaneous taste test tho
I’ll stick with my Breyers natural vanilla...
sugar
cream
milk
vanilla
that’s all I want in my vanilla ice cream
You forgot the Vegetable Gum which has been added to Bryer's since the mid-90's. Bryer's USED to have those plain ingredients but now they rely on a filler Guar Gum/Veg Gum.
It's not the same since they sold out 25 years ago
And natural flavoring, which when that flavor is vanilla can potentially come from a horrifying source.
Try Haggen Dazs- has limited ingredients also. Should have a disclaimer on some ice creams - to eat in moderation. Hard to do when it is so good. :)
Breyers used to be good some odd years ago now they're gross.
Sad to not see Blue Bunny - absolutely delicious!
Yes, my favorite!!!
True!
Blue Bell vanilla bean. I even liked touring the facility. Visiting when the blue bonnets are in bloom is the ultimate. I wasn't born in Texas, but I claim it!! Everything is better in Texas!! The ice cream is no exception.

Yep tried all of them and blue bell is the best. It’s thick and creamy without being as fattening as Ben and Jerry’s. Somehow they managed to get the perfect of both worlds.
Blue bell is disgusting. Poor people ice cream haha
For me it used to be Breyers Vanilla Bean which was creamy, more white cream, flecks of vanilla and just perfectly sweet, we used to purchase it in West Michigan. In middle Iowa, I can only find Breyers French Vanilla, which is heavy, yellow and is a custard type. Not at all the same. I usually get Blue Bunny Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt here, it is caramel/butterscotch flavor with the flecks and delicious. Magnum Mini Chocolate Bars actually have a really good vanilla ice cream inside, very smooth and that outside chocolate very good. I grew up with my Mother preferring Ice Milk, which is made with low fat. It is a curious, thin but sweet treat, but not ice cream. Hagen Das is close to Ice Milk in some of its products.
HD is FAR from ice milk - it is the highest fat national ice cream brand. It might remind you of ice milk because it melts quickly, due to the lack of fillers.
