    Now I'd like to hear which brands are actually 100% olive oil like they claim to be.

      But such a positive review of Pompeian and Bertolli. 🤡🤡

      Look for those that are DOP certified. Is the easiest and safest

      I have come to believe that nearly all imported olive oils, especially from Italy, are not pure olive oil but are cut with other cheaper oils. I started buying 100% California olive oils but they have gotten so expensive that I have given up and buy whatever is on sale.

    Thanks ladies! Supermarket brands are what most of the people i know use. Food is so expensive, it helps to have info to help choose the best the price and availability in our area.

    I was happy with the California olive ranch but the price went from 18$ to 28$ now

    Wish they had included Trader Joe's. I've been using it for years based on another test recommendation, and I would have loved knowing where you would have placed it.

      I hear the Whole Foods olive oil is the best as far as store brands. Def want to try it once I go through my current bottle.

    True story: Monte Testaccio is a large hill in Rome that is made from the shards of tens of millions of single-use clay amphorae used for the import of Spanish olive oil to imperial Rome. Almost all their oil was imported, even then.

    TIL my "glass bottle supremacy" has been leading me astray! These tastings are so helpful to consumers. There's nothing worse than spending money on something only to learn you don't like how it tastes! Thanks ATK!
    (Fyi, I think a lot of people would appreciate including some national store brands like Costco.)

    ok, weird how none of the brands Costco carries are here. Costco has a couple single source organic EVOO from Spain and Italy that are awesome so it is a shame they were not included

      They're so hard to get now a days and I believe this one is aimed more at everyday olive oils not "fancier" ones.

    I have a couple bottles of California Olive Ranch 100% California and they are both October - November 2023. Unsure why all they could find is 2022.

      great point - they should try to buy two of each bottle that were harvested more recently and taste test them, and 'age' them in a closet for two years and then compare the flavor

  • @mayonnaiseeee
    @mayonnaiseeee 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

    So this is solely based on taste and not integrity of the olive oil?

  • @artistlovepeace
    @artistlovepeace 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    Olive Oil can be hit or miss. Sometimes it tastes wonderful and then after a year it tastes kind of awful. So get fresh Olive Oil... it degrades over time... It can be expensive too! But that doesn't mean you'll love it... so consistency is very important with Olive Oil. It's way better than Canola or Vegetable oil when it's good. When it's good you'll know it. Store it in a cabinet. The light degrades the flavor, that's why it's always in a dark bottle. Olive oil can be very frustrating so trust the experts ATK to get good advice.

    Poor Julia... The results of this test are shocking, and I guess the big takeaway, for me, is to stick with Carapelli (my go-to) & Bertolli & also look for a harvest date.

    The Terra Delyssa smooth olive oil I have isn't organic (not the same as Olive Oil #5), smooth flavor, and is cold pressed and it has a harvest date that is recent. I like it, so far.

    I found the light: Graza. Their Sizzle and Drizzle are perfect, and they come in opaque squirty bottles. The refills are perfectly portioned aluminum cans, so, less plastic!🤗🤗🤗🥰🔥🔥🔥

    Useless, if not intentionally misleading, by failing to go into the cutting of cheap oils. Some of those are definitely on the bad list. Avoid them all and order Villa Cappelli.

    We don't buy anything stored long-term in plastic bottles any more. We have a enough micro-plastic in us for a lifetime already. So the oil has to be in metal or glass.
