I loved this game so much and Lord Nicholas was terrific. I remember the first time I sicced the rats on him and thought "Man, that was easy." And then he straight up sets his arm on fire and gives precisely zero f*cks about it. That cemented him as a complete badass in my opinion

I was really impressed by this boss. All through the game you are used to see rats devouring in seconds any guards they can touch. When I sent the rats against him I was like « wow ... It's ... It's over ? He was but a man after... » and then ... He rose from this mass of rats with a freaking flaming sword and killed me because I was so surprised and shocked ! Never a boss made me feel like this. He was so badass ! It even gets to the point where he flamed himself to survive !

It's easy to dismiss Arthur's death as nothing but a quick emotional manipulation and a way to kick the plot forward, but I think it reinforces his characterisation. Earlier in the chapter, Arthur is concerned about his and his sister's differences with the rest of the crew, considering leaving the chateau to keep on with his life as it was before meeting the de Runes, but he learns to value the beauty he sees in Amicia and Hugo's relationship, perhaps reminding him of his relationship with Mélie and considering how staying with the crew would be the best for the both of them
Steven Adams/Darth vader sized knight in elaborate full plate armour with delicate etching and artistry to announce piety and holiness. Covers it up in robes because function is better then fashion, it'd get dirty, and beauty is transient. Backhands one guy into a wall so hard the nearby tunnel collapses. Knocks the protagonist out with a light uppercut without the need for proper weight and follow through besides his massive hands. Instills absolute terror and respect in anyone he talks to. Scary villain, but obviously noble and knightly in a sense enough to argue with the sister of his charge about calling out perceived bullshit. Tanks a literal "rocks fall". Gets back up, kills the person who did it, then calmly composes himself so he can look dignified walking after his prey. Gets mobbed by plague rats controlled by a kid who hates him, that can strip a man bare in seconds. His response. Just light himself on fire. Absolute chad.
Nah dude is regular size maybe 180 / 6 feet. Amicia isn't that tall 160 / 5,4 and Hugo is small even for his age. The sequel actually has some dudes around 2 meter / 6 feet
An incredibly epic scene. The boss battle is amazing and tricky with all the things one had to do to defeat Nicholas. Nicholas having a fire sword and then putting all of himself on fire with Ignifer is incredible. The fire effects looks so real. But the ending of this scene, when the kids all go “To the death!” together really pulled my heart strings. Just stunning game and story design,
I actually found Nicholas pretty mundane for most of the game. Then this boss fight happened where he burst from a swarm of rats wreathed in flame. During fight: ... ok. *nodding head* That's pretty badass. I take it all back. :D
Nicholas is one of my favorite game antagonists simply because of this boss fight and his looming presence. He directly subverts the game mechanics and forces you to think on your feet. He's much like Darth Vader.
This took me a few attempts. I kept putting out all the fires and made sure he didn’t see me before putting out the flame on his sword and there was always rats around.
This guy was the True definition of a monster like all the ppl he killed just to achieve his goal how he had no mercy even for children killing him felt good becouse he sure as hell deserved it but Durning his boss battle you can see how much of monster he really when fire Dosent even phase him I think he honestly wasent even Humen you never see his face once and he will allways be a mastery I loved the game from start to finsh this game was this years gem and I'm gald i fallowed it for 2 and half years
That fight was way too frustrating. Your window to extinguish is ridiculously small combined with the fact that he can instantly deflect everything if he spots you and can reignite braziers in a matter of seconds ! I wouldn't even say that it's hard per se, since you can at least keep your distance, but it's just damn frustrating and time-consuming.
This fight was so good, I was mad that the final boss was just the rat pope who you had no emotional attachment to and they spent the real villain here. And this was such a good fight too.

Man Arthur's death hit me hard and made me depressed, even more than when we had to lure an innocent pig to its death. I kind of shipped Amicia and Arthur ( even Melie said something about that, didn't she? ) Why is it they killed both Arthur and Rodrigo in the later missions but kept Melie alive? Or Hugo for that matter. That kid is nothing but trouble. Pretty sure he's gonna be a villain if there's a sequel (which is supposedly in production)

enjoyed this boss encounter，my heart beating so much during this fight，even Nicholas said it too，but the game just crashed at the third phase at my first try...kind of ruined my experience😭
I know this is standard formula for these kinds of boss fights, but if Nicholas Lord Of Cinder just used those legs forged iron strong from a lifetime of professional military training and battle, then he could’ve just ran after them and killed them.

And yeah their armour was heavy, at about 30lbs, but full modern military kit is heavier then most plate armour at 43lbs, as well as that it’s evenly spread out across the entire body.

I have the same problem. He relights himself immediately after I put him out and just relights the fires and the checkpoint restarts with him on fire. The game seems to get stuck.

This is where I stopped playing the game. Running and hiding from Nicholas once was more than enough , but you have to do it over and over again. How the heck does Nicholas survive being crushed and then swarmed by rats from head to toe multiple times, and swat projectiles from the air like a shoalin priest? Not to mention inconsistent mechanics throughout the game, but I digress.

This is where I stopped playing the game. Running and hiding from Nicholas once was more than enough , but you have to do it over and over again. How the heck does Nicholas survive being crushed and then swarmed by rats from head to toe multiple times, and swat projectiles from the air like a shoalin priest? Not to mention inconsistent mechanics throughout the game, but I digress.

Took me more than 2 hours to kill Nicholas.
He is the hardest boss in game.
But I love the game anyway.
I want him as playable charater
I think this is a great game but that voice acting in my opinion could have been so much better to drive the overall feel of it all.
