As a CRA it’s better to directly work for sponsor than CRO.

Outsourcing, turnover, and lack of training results in poor quality and timeliness, which in turn results in sponsors pulling their work from CROs. It’s going to catch up to them sooner or later.

I think you're right. I work for a sponsor and we keep bringing more items/tasks/projects in-house and trying to discard projects the CRO does. It seems like we (the sponsor) do a better job in certain aspects and can save money and create less headaches.

Dan, great video as always. Interesting points.
I work for a CRO called HungaroTrial who specialises in conducting clinical trials in Central & Eastern Europe.
I agree, and I’m surprised, with the large population in the CEE region, and representing the region with the highest percentage of “No Action Indicated” awards from the FDA, that a greater number of biotech and pharma companies haven’t explored the feasibility of recruiting patients from the region.

My company just received a study from Moderna and they’re using us different method. They just announce they are not using CRO but instead incorporating more of their in-house monitors.

Any advice how a CRA can transition from a CRO to working for a Sponsor?

I saw that Signant Health is one of the wonderful CRO.

What about tech to help CROs do what they do best. Mainly tools for patient onboarding and engagement, analytics for the sites. Cutting cost and time on more of the manual processes. Wouldn’t that bring a lot of value to CROs as well as allowing them to be nimble in case of restructuring of teams?

Unfortunately quality CRA-s / CRO-s declining. Sponsors who has capacity are trying to get the business back in-house and the rest forced to buy those CRO inventions that "makes site life easier"

And only 20% of CRA on the top of their studies. Other literally just question "escalators" to CTM, MM etc.

Do you think that the CRA role will be outsourced overseas and if so, what suggestions do you have for CRA’s who are currently employed to avoid being laid off?
