That was so cool to see the DEER. 😁Tha best part of cycling is getting close to nature. You can stop and enjoy your surroundings better than if you were traveling by car.🇺🇸
Woww, you’re crazy man! It’s so far from Astoria !I’ve been in Bear Mountain many times, the first time was in 1969 on s Steam Boat ( Hamilton Day Line) same Circle Line pier. I love the car show in Bear Mountain!
IMPRESSIVE!..Can't add more than that!
I live in Astoria. Planning to do this and come back by September. Thanks for the motivation!
Doing this exact ride on sunday. Wish me luck!
How was it?
Nice to get out of city
Bro happy to see Astoria natives on here. Grew up in Astoria from age 5 till 21. My hometown for sure. I'd love to ride with you have a Trek x caliber bike which a journey like your bike.
Hi how much time it take you ? And the road is safe there is a pat ?
I bring my bike when I visit the in-laws in Cresskill and the Bear Mountain ride was one of the suggested local rides. However, I checked the route and didn't like the extent of the 2-lane, no-shoulder, high-speed heavy traffic sections. Your video served to confirm that. I feel safer riding in Manhattan than I do on some of those NJ roads. Plus, 9W might be good at getting from point A to point B, but I much prefer Henry Hudson Drive (aka The River Road). Too many sections of 9W with no or minimal shoulders while Henry Hudson has almost zero traffic, plus you probably get as much elevation gain on HH with all the ups and downs as you would climbing Bear Mountain.
Awesome riding; great views, and close deer call....
Those deer spooked me too!
Kudos to you guys.. great ride
congrats on the long commute... wow in 5hr 17min ,so i got a question how did you the next day .
I felt fine
Very, very nice ride !
I love Bear Mountain, the first times was in 1969.
Cool video. Appreciate the links to gear, but you should go through them as many are not currently active.
We went to bear mountain by circle line once
Great Video !!
WAIT ALL THAT AND IT WAS CLOSED??
RichManSCTV0 I think so haha
Yup 😓
Damn that is crazy bro
Ha,ha,ha. How come you press the crossing button?....
Wow.. wow..wow.. no words. Can I ride with you?
Maybe!
🇭🇺respect!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lol, it fixed itself. Suprise!
Meh, I’d just lift my bike over the gate and continue up Perkins. Good video though
Ride back must've been pretty easy going all down hill.
notthegoatseguy Ha! You wish. Descend Bear Mountain and then you’re hit with a few steep 1-2 mile climbs. Bear was the longest climb by far but the gradient was manageable. There was also a 14 mph headwind.
It wasn’t all downhill. In fact, it was harder going back because of the headwinds. th-cam.com/video/UZ5vU7jKxzo/w-d-xo.html
At least you didnt go up the PIP like I have seen morons try. What a ride!!
