    Hi. is it possible with only 250 watt if; so what will the minimum/cheapest requirements of hardware cpu/gpu....be for the hp 6300 pro sff for use as a media server dl movies/sreaming wifi/ 4k movies? Thanks

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would generally work fine as a basic media server and, yes, the 250W PSU would be fine. However, for 4K video streaming I would recommend upgrading the graphics card and power supply. Minimum gpu might be something like this: www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gt-1030.c2954
      A quad-core CPU with a good clock speed would be good. Does your model run AMD or Intel?

    how i can test the power supply

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As in how can you test if it's working and routing electricity? If you have a voltage meter, you could try testing the cable feeding out of the power supply and into the motherboard. First plug into an outlet and then look for the area on the plastic plug that connects to the board. Test each wire until you find the "ground" and "hot" wire. If you're getting a steady reading or a reading that aligns with the voltage of your power supply, that's good. If not, you will have to think about opening up the metal casing and testing the power supply board. What stage are you at? Does that make sense?

If the tower panel, check the cables running from the power button attached to the from I/O assembly to ensure that 1)the plastic piece is depressing enough to hit the power button 2) that the cable is properly plugged into the motherboard. My HP 4000 start up when plugin. Does shows anything on monitor and the keyboard it shut down for about a second then the fans start spinning again then the fans start spinning fast I tried everything bring it to a expert he said the mother board is no good but my mind is telling me other wise I think it's the power supply any ideas any one

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the fans are running very loud and very fast? As if they were receiving more power than they are designed for? And the computer boots on when you plug a power cord in, but doesn't boot to Windows or give you a chance to get to BIOS? It just keeps running the fans at high speeds until you shut it off? Try opening up the tower case and trying these one by one: 1) remove all RAM sticks and try booting them one at a time. You could have faulty memory that is preventing startup. 2) remove all hard drives and optical drives. Try booting up the tower with one installed at a time. 3) remove any graphics cards if you have one installed. Try booting up with the display cable plugged into an integrated port on the I/O panel. 4) remove any other cards or peripherals except for the mouse, keyboard and monitor. Try booting up.
      Let me know if you need clarification or any help with these :) Or, let me know how it goes.

      @@manishpawar3185 Well, you could try 1) taking all RAM out and testing each stick one bye one by installing and booting up. 2) Try unplugging the Optical Drive, hard drive and/or SSD from the motherboard by removing the SATA cables. Try booting up with none, then try booting up with one installed at a time. 3) if you have a graphics card (or any other type of card) installed, try taking it out and plugging the display cord into one that's attached to the I/O panel on the motherboard. Try booting without the card(s) installed. 4) Try replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Do you happen to have access to another CPU that will fit the socket type on the board?

      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@manishpawar3185 Sorry, I glossed over the fact that you mentioned SMPS, in relation to your power supply. I focused on the 9 beeps being diagnostic errors communicated from your motherboard, which would indicate that power is being directed from your power supply. I would have to assume that your power supply is working to the extent that you hear diagnostic beeps indicating something is wrong. But, if your power supply is in fact not supplying power to your system board, is there a way you can measure the voltage from the plug that connects to the motherboard? Do you have access to a voltage meter? You could test the power plug connected to household current, then the plug that connects to the motherboard to see if it comes close to matching the voltage your power supply is designed for. So, can you be more specific? Can you walk me through exactly what happens after you plug in your power supply and try to boot your computer?

    I have a similar pc ( HP compaq 6300 Pro SFF)
    The fan on the PSU is really really loud, my computer is working properly. I don't think a simple fan replacement will fix it because it's literally running at maximum speed. My temperatures are fine though. Any help anyone?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can you confirm that it is your PSU fan and not your CPU or front intake fan? When I have encountered fans running at maximum speed for no discernible reason, I have tried unplugging all drives from the motherboard, taking out all of the ram, and removing any PCI slot cards. One by one I reinstalled everything until either the fans acted normally or it was clear what item might be causing malfunction. I have also gone so far as to install fans with a lower amperage, so that even though they are running high they are making much less noise.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair I already tried removing all the rams earlier as well as removing all the usb devices connected. I'm gonna try it again tomorrow plus removing the drives connected. I actually considered replacing the fan in the past to a fan with lower rpm but someone said I shouldn't because that'll probably raise my temps even higher. Honestly I can bear with the sound, but I'm worried it might be a sign of a dying psu and that's what I don't want to happen.I can also confirm that it's the psu fan since I can hear the sound from it and the air it pumps out is a lot.
      Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll update later if anything works

      @@HonkForLife098 If you're into trying the replacement, the fan probably won't cost too much. The fan in this video was only $6.37CAD. Are you able to test a different power supply? Have any spares?

    • @HonkForLife098
      @HonkForLife098 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HaisteComputerRepair Unfortunately I don't have a spare psu. I do have a spare 90mm fan with the exact same model as the stock. Now I know I shouldn't be telling you this but I'm gonna comment anyways in case someone encounters a similar problem in the future
      There's a fan speed control for these pc's in the bios, however that fan speed control is actually for the intake / cpu fan and not the psu fan. I've experimented with it back then to find the right speed for my cpu fan so I know. I actually set to max because it's the only intake for this pc. I tried setting it to minimum and that actually fixed the psu. It went silent / spins slower now. That's really weird because that setting was for the cpu fan and not the psu fan.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair

      @@HonkForLife098 That is odd, but thanks for sharing. I could swear there is no fan control option in BIOS for this 6005. I'll look tomorrow, I have this set up at my workplace.
