    For three weeks I've been hand-stitching holes in the absolutely demonic original mesh. This video is a lifesaver.

    This was so useful for me, as I just got an iPhone 12 Pro and it's getting me interested in 3D modeling! :P

    Nice video!!!
    Highpoly edits are slow on blender for now, one thing you can try is masking on sculpting mode and deleting masked parts, it should be faster... you also have filling options if you want to investigate.

    Would love to see the lidar used to scan an object for 3d printing ! Great video !

    Thank you for sharing :) any tips on getting the best scan with your iPhone such as what kind of environment to put the object in that you are scanning? Would it be good to have a black background or does it depend on what you are scanning?

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi it does not matter so much with the truddepth or lidar sensor, with photogrammetry I would usually use contrasting colours black white etc or mask in software afterwards. Thanks

    Hey, that's a great job done by you, can we use 3d scans directly from iphone 12 to blender without requiring any third party paid application ? What format can it produce

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can import and export all major 3d files, so yes. Give it a try it's free

    Interesting. Have you ever compared the truedepth scanner to photogrammetry for small objects? I saw your last video with the stone obelisk but I guess that would have been too large for the truedepth scanner.

    I am a student in engineering geodesy and I have this a stuff as my project where we 3d scan an object and extract the point cloud for measuring the object in Matlab for its accuracy , which is normally done in 3D Laser scanner, Can u do a demo on Lidar thing with so texturing ?

    Okay going a bit crazy. When I decimate my object gets filled with holes? any idea why? Is this the type of 3d scan I am using? It is an obj file that came from a 3d scan I did on my pixel 5. Great series btw.

      Hi you may need to make edges manifold first...

  • @may-xt6ph
    @may-xt6ph 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    can you point to any sources on the relative resolution of the true depth and lidar

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant off the top of my head but would like to see too. You asked about point clouds, i know there is an app called record3d that claims to allow point cloud 'recording'. Also the apple ARkit has an example that allows pointcloud information from the device, I have not tried it but may when I have an apple device to keep. Thanks

    • @may-xt6ph
      @may-xt6ph 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kams1 I was surprised to hear you say that TrueDepth has higher resolution than Lidar, but upon reflection it makes sense that the biometric scanner captures greater detail than the room-scale scanner. That said, the video I am most anticipating is Reality Capture iPhone Photogrammetry with Lidar Fusion. Not clear if the Lidar resolution has much to say to photogrammetry beyond rough room scale AR applications.
      Here are some source I found about Lidar resolution:

    Is it possible to 3D-Print this head after you are finished with smoothing and sculpting?

    • @rwa7915
      @rwa7915 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is. Make sure the model is manifold, meaning it is a continuous mesh with no holes in it. Export the model as an .STL or .PLY and you can import it into a slicer such as Cura, and 3D print it.

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blender has a 3d print add on that allows you to check for manifold and fix basic errors

    Have you found better results with the front camera than the back lidar camera?

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      front camera for smaller closer objects approx size of a head or smaller and back camera for larger lower res up to 5m (claimed)

    6:19 is there any other way to close holes without re-meshing the file?

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can make manifold or repair in edit mode making faces and using polygons if hole is not too big

    • @MrKams1
      @MrKams1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi the statue we see at the start is semi matte and scans fine, although anything transparent or very shiny may present difficulties like any scanning method.
