Yes, they did, and I agree it is so heartbreaking that poor little girl had to live in hell with her father and the fact no one listen to the mother is deplorable. And DCYF what they did is nothing to protect this little girl (Harmony)
I’d love to meet the judge that said it was ok for this little girl to go back to living with her father with his criminal history and drug addictions… this case is absolutely APPALLING
This poor little girl never stood a chance, she was let down by EVERY adult in her life and that's just heartbreaking. I'm so glad her brother was adopted into a loving, caring family. It's so sad that by the time that wonderful couple found out about his older sister and would have adopted her too that she was already missing...
@@CarolynEllisQtEllis if it wasn't for the mom, no one would even know Harmony was missing. She had to push for 2 years. Yes she was an addict, but at least she pushed for two years. I am not sure what to wish for here, did he murder her or did he sell her and she is still alive?
When an adult says he’s “been bashing” a child around the house,my business or not we’ve got a serious damn problem right there, and with the little girl having a black eye from the alleged “bashing”,what in the hell is wrong with people?
Who makes these decisions? They take a child away from a mother who has drug problems, and give her to a father who not only also has drug problems but a history of criminal activity and violence. This makes no sense to me.
I’ve followed this sad case from the beginning and all I can say is that everyone failed this little angel. The state, the courts, the police, child protective service, the parents and relatives….Every one failed to protect this child and should be ashamed of themselves. Just the mere fact that it took 2 years to begin searching for this little angel, is just uncalled for and absolutely unacceptable. My heart breaks for this beautiful child.
@B. B I just commented my feelings on them. They are absolutely vile and shouldn't be fostering anyone ever again. I had 3 cats and a stray came to my window in distress and I called animal services because I couldn't take a fourth cat...well after a few hours of him in my home while waiting I had already decided to keep him. He looked at me with such sadness, desperation and sweetness so fast forward 12 years later and he's a happy little clam so I can't imagine fostering an actual child and losing interest. Just wow!
Literally everyone involved... starting with her mother. I kept waiting for a clip of her taking at least a little bit of ownership for setting this chain of events in motion. Didn't happen. "It's everyone _else's_ fault!" Lessons learned: 0... at least by the participants. I suppose it would be moot at this point anyway. But, if you want to be an optimist, maybe one or two of the 1.1 million people who've watched this video gained a little insight/will-power from this IRL cautionary tale and won't need quite as many wake-up calls to stack up before they start _trying_ to get their shit together.
@ Elizabeth Luna Maybe the bio-mother, but no one else in this case deserve to have / raise that precious little girl... Scumbag Adam WILL pay for what he has done, 1st w/the police and 2nd in front of the Almighty Creator.
Every one. Even the mother. Pushing pencils but not really looking. Smashing and living her life. Smh. Really. 2 years? Smh Shame on her mother for even taking the little girl from that family that wanted to adopt the little girl. The mother didn't want her either. She wanted to smash and do drugs. Js. Speaking the truth too. Edit: Cameras on, bring on the tears. Smh. Not even a tear from the mother. Just a fake show of concern.
@@LovePrettyNailsLady-Jay80 I basically wrote the same thing. That egg donor doesn't get to go around complaining when she was just as bad. She should have left her with that foster family instead of continuing to fight for her back while she was still on drugs!
I mean, I feel bad for her. It's hard for people to understand but addiction isn't this thing you can just shake off. It follows you around, especially when the source of your addiction comes from your childhood. Even if you love someone enough, you can't just stop using. Hell, you can't stop using for even yourself. Many die. I'm not saying it's impossible to get clean, i just feel bad for the mother who expected her little girl to be cared for but ended up dead. It just boggles my mind that child protective agencies can still create so much neglect for a child. How law enforcement can just decide when they feel like investigating an abuse claim or not. Just deciding if they feel like believing it or not. How someone can be abusive and an active junkie and still get custody of a child. It just amazes me the amount of hoops people will jump through to not do their job in keeping a kid safe. Like Olympic levels.
Many in law enforcement and child welfare agencies also abuse their own kids and families, so they view reports through that lens of "this doesn't sound that bad." Low pay and toxic employment cultures in these agencies perpetuate this. No social worker worth their salt is able to put up with the treatment and low pay long enough to stick around. And that is not their fault. It is the government's fault.

At one point Harmony's mom says about the step mom: " There was multiple times this woman could have stood up as a real woman and mother and done something. And hse did nothing." She should have practiced saying that in front of a mirror first.
She WAS doing that. What exactly do you call doing what the mom did??????? I understand your anger, but it's misplaced. People get addicted to drugs when they're younger than 18, now they're an addict, they don't think they're "addicted" for many years tho until they start to have problems, now they realize but they're ashamed, too ashamed to even TRY for change because there's a dime a dozen YOU's who stay right here on the sidelines to say horrible things when you can, so what she's a disgusting person because she got addicted to drugs and is now doing the work to get clean because she HAS to??? That's how MOST addicts end up getting clean, they HAVE to because they're probably going to jail or prison.. or they'll lose their kids, and before you say some shit like "losing your kids should be enough to change anything", to an addict, reality is TOTALLY different to them than it is to anyone else.. @@Alexandra-qc9te I think it's before the sperm donor got custody. Apparently she had a foster home that wanted to adopt her but the mom would take them to court, and win back custody. You realize that drug addiction is considered a disease by the American Medical Association right? @@bribri0513 Yes. I have the same struggles. I understand the power of addiction. But it is no excuse. Ya and the way she said is also annoying... First neglect of the little girl done by her..she would have stop taking drugs or atleast not fight for custody again and again when the kid is in foster care..then atleast the kid would have been at the foster care family till now...
"...the foster family lost interest." This should have been edited out because it misrepresents what actually occurred. The biological mother that became a media hog, wouldn't relinquish parental rights and a family can have their hearts ripped out only so many times.
Thank you! This should be pinned. There's a lot of foster families that want to adopt. Idk if her mother is media hog, considering she needed to find Harmony. How can a mother choose drugs over her children. I’d never be able to face myself if I gave up my child and she was murdered.
And it’s the addict mother’s fault, had she stopped interfering as if she really wanted to be a mom while knowing very well she’s gonna continue using, that poor baby would still be alive
@@ashleyashronn8859 I think both can be true at the same time. She prbly did genuinely want to be a good mom and be involved in her daughter's life. I can't think of a reason she would have kept fighting the adoption if she didn't care to. And as an addict she prbly had high hopes that she could get her shit tgthr. But addicts don't just wake up one day and decide to stop being an addict. It's not as easy or as simple as that. If it were, I promise you ALOT less people would suffer from addiction. But I think sadly you are absolutely right about the fact that had the adoption been able to go thru to completion, Harmony would still be alive today.
Her mother was talking shit about everyone and saying how horrible they were, when she failed her MULTIPLE times, more than anyone else.. and could have directly saved her life by just being a half decent mother.
Ikr, one of the worst mother's i have come across. This is such a sad case. The father should have been beaten up and cut into pieces. Disgusting piece of shit. The poor baby didn't have a chance at life. This case bought tears to my eyes. The entire system failed this little angel.
Social workers and case workers should have been charged with neglect. She was ultimately under their care. My heart breaks thinking about how little love that sweet little girl must have gotten. Why would you place a child with someone that never made an effort to see his child? I hope all those involved in the case have nightmares for the rest of their lives. Everyone failed that little girl. No body, no parole.
First of all many of you don’t know how many cases each social worker has, I left the profession to go into law because I could not handle a caseload of 75 kids. Your anger is misplaced, and if none of you foster, adopt, or do anything to help you should just really stop blaming those mostly doing their best. Attitudes and blame is also why I left and I was one of the ones that really cared. I will say at least the lady was looking for her baby. This is such a sad story and they are always hiring since you can do better. Just saying. You’ll see.
IDK about that (social/case workers). I mean these people don't live in these homes. They get a report that something is wrong and then if they show up, the kids look okay, aren't saying anything, and there isn't something obvious going on what are they supposed to do? It's not like the foster care system is a beaming place to send kids- they get neglected and abused their too. It's like picking the lesser of two evils. If they see something obvious and don't do something yes that should be reprimanded heavily but honestly this whole system of child welfare is broken- children shouldn't have to be parented by a government agency b/c an entity or organization can't take care of or raise a child. A person can. The parents failed her miserably. The legal systems followed suit. It IS heartbreaking thinking about this poor girl and the others who are right now going through this process of being shuffled around between their abusive/neglectful parents and the state and still having nobody meet their needs.
How the mom had the audacity to say anything about the stepmom or anyone else , has made me just furious. YOU failed your daughter from the get-go. You have no right to point fingers. YOU ALL failed her including the courts and the social services. Forever in our hearts little Harmony.
I completely agree, her mother may not have struck the blow that (likely) killed Harmony but her selfish actions in not allowing her to be adopted lead to her death. Shame on all of them!
I’m a recovering addict. I know many women that currently have children in the care of the state and even a few that gave birth to babies physically addicted to heroin. That said, this case is still infuriating and a failure on many accounts. I don’t doubt this woman loved her daughter as much as anyone should. Even addicts look down on women that struggle with addiction and have children (most of whom are men that have no children). Addiction is a disease, not a moral choice. Addicts will cross every line they draw in the sand as they slip towards rock bottom. The women I know talked about their children constantly and I believe in many cases it’s right to have the children taken, because addiction makes a poor parent. I can’t chastise her for being an addict though, not after I’ve seen the hoops women go through in trying to get their children back. Addiction is an evil that consumes a person, networking out and webbing to those around them. I’m angry at the law for failing to investigate so long after the fact and the piece of shit who did this. Child killers don’t fare well in prison, and I’m not a bloodthirsty guy, but it does give some catharsis to know he is likely having the shit beat out of him often.
Once the state takes a child it almost impossible to get them back. Someone without the means it is impossible. That means thousands for lawyers, and everything else they have to have. Even then it's still hard. Cps is a profit driven system.
@@whogoestherification I don't blame her for addiction because it's a disease. It's a horrible disease. However, it doesn't make you stupid. You know you are struggling and you know you aren't doing good for your kids. When she couldn't get clean, she should've supported the foster family adopting her. She fought them until they gave up and still wasn't off the drugs. That's what I blame her for. As a mother, even an addicted one, you can do what's best for your child by letting them go.
I get that those in glass huts shouldn't cast stones but the fact that you can't agree with her is surprising to me. Lol The mom failed to get clean in time to raise her children but that lady knew a child was killed and said nothing. But let's all just focus on the one with a drug addiction because she's selfish ...Not the lady who knew a kid was murdered and said nothing because the selfish lady said something true but made her a hypocrite..
This is heartbreaking. What’s wrong with these departments that are supposed to be investigating and protecting these children?? This system is seriously broken. Poor poor Harmony!
Not even 30 seconds in and already crying at "2 YEARS BEFORE THE POLICE TOOK ACTION" already a heart breaking case 💔 so sick of the system failing innocent babies
Excellent and informative video, as usual. That poor child. I'll never understand why "men" like him hurt and murder their children. It's so easy to just give the child back to the mother, grandparent, aunt, or uncle. May he rot in Hell. Fly little girl and rest in paradise 🕊
Because abusers like them see children as means to control an end. They often sabotage womens' birth control because they know the courts favor fathers. Don't even try the MRA lie that men are treated badly by courts. In fact, abusers are often given custody SPECIFICALLY because male judges side with men or feel such himpathy toward the scummiest of men.
It’s even worse that people are shifting blame to everyone but who murdered the child. Yes her mom was addicted to drugs (and relapse is very common in those who’ve done drugs before, not everyone can go cold turkey), and she tried her hardest. People seem to be ignoring that she tried her hardest. The man killed his child, child protective services failed her, police failed her, etc.
It is interesting that the mother never once publicly spoke of responsibility for trying to take her back and then failing - multiple times. The bigger, best thing to do was to give Harmony to the adopting family and get on with taking care of herself. I would have had more compassion for the bio mom if she had hinted at feeling some responsibility in this whole mess.
This is exactly how I feel she's the first one that failed this poor kid. And her self-righteous ass never said one word about her own responsibility in this
Yep. I mean it tells you everything you need to know that she also lost custody of her son. Totally self-centred and looking to absolve herself of all blame.
She probably felt like shit knowing she failed so many times but damn she did speak up and was trying I didn't watch the whole video but I learned that much
Both of you are gross as hell for blaming the mother when her father shouldn't have killed her. You don't know anything about what her mother had already been through, or her ability to even function. She doesn't seem right, and not everyone has the capabilities you do. The only person to blame for Harmony'a abuse is the one who abused her. Not one word about the person who actually DID this to her. Unfuckinreal.
I agree!! Now she acts all appalled and like the doting mother. She could have prevented all of this but she chose the drugs over her daughter. She kept getting her taken away by CPS because she couldn't put the drugs down. So, she is the catalyst for this whole thing. Totally putting herself as the victim.
@Lovelybones1973 I honestly can't believe some of yall. She's not responsible for what the guy did. HE is responsible. But instead of being outraged at how horrible a father he was, you decide to blame her for her mentally illness and addiction, as if she had to see something like this coming based just by nature of having these problems. It's truly sickening.
I'm getting real fed up that these kids are dying because when the case is reported, it seems they do very little to make sure the children are safe. Someone needs to be held accountable just like the murderer! There's no excuse for these kids to be overlooked and forgotten especially when people are saying there's abuse! I think people should march the streets for justice! The kids don't have a voice but caring good people do!
I agree and it also bothers me that the adoptive parents decided they didn't want this little girl after she had been with them most of her life. And that they let her be thrown back into the system. That's insane to me.
I hate to say this but with the foster care system already overcrowded, these agencies are not going to remove the child from a home unless they walk in & see the child in a dog cage! They are so understaffed and overwhelmed its sickening. Their budgets are always the first to get cut. And get ready to see a huge uptick in cases in the next 5 to 10 years with Republican controlled state governments outlawing abortion, well its going to break the system completely and its always the children who will suffer.
This is a case I remember well... it is incredibly heartbreaking and infuriating how the system failed Harmony so many times over. I don't understand how the father got custody in the first place, let alone how DCYF dropped the ball on numerous occasions.
It blows my mind how many times I've seen unsuitable parents regain custody of their kids because CPS deemed it ok, yet make the parents that actually deserve their kids, junp thru hoops and fight tooth and nail to get thrm back. Alot of times CPS does more harm than good. Its ridiculous!
The audacity of her mother to stand there acting like she's blameless. It speaks volumes that social services thought she was such a shitty parent that placing the child with a violent ex con was the better option. Makes you wonder how bad that little girl had it living with her mom too. She was failed in every way by every adult in her life, personally and authorities too. The only redeeming adult might be the uncle, but he still walked away from an abused child and made himself feel better by reporting it later.
She didn't care about her daughter while she was alive but, she's upset now that she's gone. We call this learning the hard way round here. Heart breaking.
The mother is an addict that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love her child! The system failed Harmony as she should have been placed for adoption instead of being returned to feckless parents.
@@Lorense75 this mother chose drugs over not one but multiple children. Her choices literally killed her child. And then her selfishness even prevented her from being adopted! The only ones who failed this child was BOTH egg and sperm donors who did no truly care for the souls they created
Look at this "mother" acting like the loving and caring and concerned parent. Sickening how this poor darling little girl was let down by ALL adults who looked the other way. But worse, by those who should've loved her enough to protect her.Sometimes even family isn't worth having if they don't have the compassion to rescue a defenseless child.
The lovely couple that adopted Harmony's brother wanted to also adopt Harmony. However, Crystal kept jerking her back, then relapsing, over and over. Had she unselfishly let her go, the child would be alive and thriving.
? Ya know ... these comments make me feel like yall had terrible mothers with addiction so you're just lumping this mom in with yours. Or something. She was a better parent than him. And cared. She should have kept her kid.
After hearing Adam’s EXTENSIVE violent criminal past…why in the world would ANY agency give that creature custody of a 5 yr old child? Absolutely mind blowing. 🤯
If the mother had cared as much about Harmony as she does about Kayla....this may have had a better ending....that little girl deserved so much more xx
I 100% agree! It does not feel like she is taking enough accountability. I really feel uncomfortable seeing her speak so freely in public blaming the dad and his wife. It's like she was just a spectator and not an active participant in her own child's demise.
I agree it makes me mad watching her whine around like she really wants her found when in reality it doesn't look like she was ever much of a good mother to her. She looks away from the camera when she says she kept calling...I doubt that she did. I would say she was deep in her addiction but it's sad that harmony could have been adopted and wasn't bc they were holding out for the mom 💔 😔 I try to not judge ppl but the fact the mother put 2 innocent children Into this lifestyle is sad. I wish she had put the energy she put into finding her into sobering up and being a good mother.
I was thinking the same thing! Mom makes me so sick. She never showed any emotion at all except mild anger at Kayla and dad. What a poor baby (harmony)❤️
They should have never gave Harmony's mom another a chance..they should have kept her with the foster family. Ugh. They all claim they "want" custody of her but can't clean up their act or do better for her sake. She was failed miserably by everyone. I'll never understand why people can't just do what's best for the CHILD. Even if it means taking them away from their parents. And I'll never understand how someone can knock their child around especially little little ones. This was honestly all preventable.
So true! How annoying for her to go on the news and talk about her ‘special powers.’ Oh and her fear of organ harvesting. Maybe focus on getting treated for addiction, take care of your children and none of this would have happened
Every time I hear this case all I can think about is what if I could have known and saved her. I would have stopped at nothing 😔 she’s so precious. The sweetest, biggest smile. How could you hurt her? How?
Yeah, asking a criminal with a history of assault and dishonest crimes if he swears on his life is so ignorant. Like it can’t be a lie if he swears on his life 🤦🏻♀️
As someone who watches pretty much only true crime stories, it seems almost always when a kid is being abused or murdered, so called "child care" agencies have been involved at some stage. How come they drop the ball so much? They just don't care enough it seems... Loving your channel mate. Thanks from Oz.
Coz they have some pretty low standards to meet to take a child. Malnourished, obviously severely abused, severely inebrbiated parents, dirty house think hoarders, zero food in fridge. These abuser types know when child services is coming it usually happens after someone mentions a black eye. The fight he had with his uncle wasn't over $ it was the situation with harmony. Right away he goes into clean up kids, clean up house, stay str8 until the worker visits and it all falls to hell again.
Abusers are very manipulative, often charming people. They are convincing liars and they often have other people who will vouch for them. Furthermore, these are agencies with generally insufficient budgets and manpower. There aren't enough people, not enough money, not enough time in a day to be as effective as they want to be or as we need them to be.
This guy was a pathological liar and sociopath. It was not stated in the video definitively that the suspect was abused had contact with child services just his statement he went to live with his uncle due to abuse from mother. In that interview he was self serving and manipulative as he could be however the agents were slways 1 step ahead. I'd not take anything he said at face value.
So many people failed this little girl. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Absolutely.

Thank you! This should be pinned. There's a lot of foster families that want to adopt. Idk if her mother is media hog, considering she needed to find Harmony. I can say a mom's love should know no bounds, even if that means letting a child go for their stake and asking for visitation.

blaming those mostly doing their best.
Lol
The mom failed to get clean in time to raise her children but that lady knew a child was killed and said nothing. But let's all just focus on the one with a drug addiction because she's selfish ...Not the lady who knew a kid was murdered and said nothing because the selfish lady said something true but made her a hypocrite..
Her mum is not a victim, she is lapping up all the sympathy because she didn't personally kill her daughter. The only victim is poor Harmony :(
Unfortunately, I get that impression of liking the attention too.
Yea she did personally kill her if you ask me..She started the first steps to her passing..
Exactly. The thing is a maggot.
mother started the road to her childs death. She is just as responsible as the evil father.
This is a cruel take. Addiction is not forgiving of anybody.
This is a brand new level of SICK!!
This is heartbreaking. What’s wrong with these departments that are supposed to be investigating and protecting these children?? This system is seriously broken. Poor poor Harmony!
They have far too many cases versus employees.. how bout everybody stop abusing their damn kids
How about people who can't take care of kids to quit having kids????
Not even 30 seconds in and already crying at "2 YEARS BEFORE THE POLICE TOOK ACTION" already a heart breaking case 💔 so sick of the system failing innocent babies
The "system" has caused the deaths of too many children.
@@marshapieroni6677 I'm well aware I spent 6 years in it
Excellent and informative video, as usual.
Control. It's all about ego and control.
He probably overacted and killed her over something small.
They're sick.
"I love my drug addiction more than Harmony. Sorry Harmony."
And propos to the system that felt Harmony. Bravo...
Exactly
She probably felt like shit knowing she failed so many times but damn she did speak up and was trying I didn't watch the whole video but I learned that much
She’s INCREDIBLY selfish. If she would have just left her alone and let her adoptive family legally adopt her then none of this would have happened.
Her mother needs to understand that she put her daughter in that terrible situation when she put herself first before her beautiful daughter.
The "mother" should have gotten clean and been able to care for and protect that little girl.
I so agree. The mom is just as responsible in my opinion
Oh my! Harmony is absolutely adorable 😍 how can anyone want to harm a helpless child?! 😣
I couldn’t have children , this makes my blood boil this innocent little girl harmony ,had her whole life ahead of her ,shame on family
Social services dropped the ball on this
99% of the time they do
@@azaleawinchester agreed they have so many cases and worker's who don't care...
No. Her parents did. Both of them are parasites who should have been desexed a long time ago.
I couldn't agree more!!! I feel the same way!
So very true. Poor Harmony.
Yes you are point on with your comment I agree
Exactly!!!!
Riiight. That is so sick and not normal. She takes no accountability for her own actions
She didn't care about her daughter while she was alive but, she's upset now that she's gone. We call this learning the hard way round here. Heart breaking.
the mother always guilty even if the father is a criminal without emotion and concerns of his daughter....
The zoomers call it fck around and find out. Hopefully she find out so hard she gets clean.
No need for quotation marks.
? Ya know ... these comments make me feel like yall had terrible mothers with addiction so you're just lumping this mom in with yours.
Yea, what the sperm donor and his gf wanted was the Benefits, that's it.
My concern with that is them losing interest in her. 😢this poor baby
She lost her other kid and referring to Harmony as it at 21:40 does not make it seem she should be around any kid
That sweet angel was failed by everyone, her parents, foster family and the system. It's tragic
Every time I hear this case all I can think about is what if I could have known and saved her. I would have stopped at nothing 😔 she’s so precious. The sweetest, biggest smile. How could you hurt her? How?
This poor child never had a chance. Such a sad and enraging story. RIP wee angel.
"Your daughter is still alive? Swear on your life?!"
"Yes!"
"Okay boys, that's it. Wrap it up. "
Yeah, asking a criminal with a history of assault and dishonest crimes if he swears on his life is so ignorant. Like it can’t be a lie if he swears on his life 🤦🏻♀️
@@Britt1Marie like, seriously. That one made me laugh.
That was so dumb. Like he's going to tell them the truth. Maybe they should have him pinky swear while their at it.
Literally
As someone who watches pretty much only true crime stories, it seems almost always when
a kid is being abused or murdered, so called "child care" agencies have been involved at some stage.
I was thinking the same thing
And also they take bribes too
