Montana - what a great name for a person, a state and Montana-class battleship (close enough).

The Simon/Montana show was PR Gold. Not sure the corporate suits that replaced will ever be camera friendly 🙄

    No she wasn't.
I base this on me asking why all the class 66s, 37s and 57 they produced about 3 years ago had the same running numbers as ones that Bachmann had already made. There were options to have other running numbers.
She replied that they were making them for people that were new to the hobby as well who might not already have them.
Business wise that was the most ridiculous answer. Different number would appeal to new and seasoned collectors.
I sent this after I had just cancelled 4 orders with them.

Have to agree that the Simon and Montana hour was the best part of the shows. And why am I not surprised that the new CEO has precisely zero experience in model railways

I'd be worried about the safety of a £3.50 train set from China.

    Good positive exposure for Hornby.
But the best thing? Not too sure about that.

Well look, lets take a look around Tesco Extra just before closing time. What toy stuff do they have for a last minute desperate present for the vaguelly related child of a brother or sister? Well there's camping stuff that wont last a week in a forest on a windy day,so forget that. Teddy Bears? Check! Lego? Check! Actually, lots of lego, and Star Wars lego and Harry Potter lego so thats good. What about cool transport stuff to get the kids interested in summer holidays? Well there's a few dinky style aircraft,a few fancy modern fighters like the F22 Raptor for the boys,Hot Wheels of course...cool! Batmobile! Super Cool! And train stuff...how about a Jinty painted blue with a number and face on it,and two wooden looking but actually plastic coaches.There.That says fast, modern and cool doesnt it. No. Absolutely not. That's why we need people like Montana at Hornby to keep making suggestions like the Birmingham New Street and Grand Central Shopping Centre set. Could be the new Tracey Island.

Hornby was only ever a stepping stone for Montana in her career path. Maybe they should have put her in Kohlers shoes with a bit of training for 6 months. Best episode IMHO was at the steam show IIRC and noone coming in to buy anything while Kohler outside in a farm trailer on a jolly then the big boss Linden rocks up and not impressed with Montana left holding the fort and promoting her sales idea to get rid of old stock. She was OK but Hornby still needs someone with vision as the core design team is good but no bright product plan in God know how long. Maybe they should take on John from Rails as a consultant - oh the irony 🙂

PR bovine extrement from the great god Hornby & a really tacky clip.
Your clips when you showed used locomotives were quite good, now they are quite simply (mostly) HornbyBashing, padded out with rubbish.

@@LocomotionMotion - tried that before, anyway, personally, I preferred your earlier content, before the Hornby bashing (there's enough of that elsewhere even though they deserve it).
