Both these albums have been hidden gems to me until I decided to go for the quest into his full catalog and which brought me to your channel. I like this one just a little better even, perhaps due to the spur of the moment, because he sounds even more genuine here. The singing, the playing, the song selection ... it's as if these songs are his own. (I suspect this was how he felt about it himself, which got him into trouble on the previous one, and he ironically set it straight on this one.) It's hard to call out any favorites but the title track, Blood in my eyes (that video!) and Delia are obvious choices. Thanks for reading out the liner notes. I don't own the album, so your contextualizing my streaming experience has been most welcome.
Yes Jeff this man's music is MY world I choose to live in for the past 57+ years and I hope to end my days in his music. I LOVE this record, for many reasons you mentioned. The sad thing is this is probably the last full all acoustic album we will ever get from Bob as he ages, so that's another reason to love this album. GREAT review!!
I just want to share my history with you. I’m 35 years old, born and raise in Brazil. My bad was born on 52, I grow up listening to Bob Dylan with out knowing who he was, long story short, after my dad passed away, I met my wife in Spain. Crazy or not, she is from Minnesota! We have been married for 12 years and unfortunately I never been able to share this with my dad because he passed away before I met my wife! What a small world! God bless you sr
I love these two folk/blues cover albums he put out in the '90s. Another viewer asked me to do a match-up between the albums, song-by-song, and I tried.....but I just couldn't do it. I like pretty much all of the songs equally. Such a wonderful listen for Dylan fans (and like nails on a chalkboard for non-Dylan fans!).
From those liner notes it sounds a bit the Dylan would describe some of the songs on that radio show he used to have and DJ. I think it was called Bob Dylan's old time radio hour or something like that, it might have some of them up on YT.
Very underrated album that is one of my favourites. Not possible that many other fans cite it as a great one 'cause it's quite ignored from his very later stuff.
I was lucky enough to hear Dylan do a swinging full band version of Delia in 2000 in the UK. Just glorious. These albums didn't get the acclaim they deserved. Thanks for the review.
Yes these albums sorta slipped below the radar, for sure. Perhaps understandably, but unfortunate, as these have many great moments on them. Thanks for your comment! Cheers. Jeff
this is one of my favorite dylan albums...to me his version of 'blood in my eyes' should be considered a true classic....love these reviews...glad i'm catching up on these...peace my friend...rocky
I liked “Good As I Been To You”, but I absolutely loved “World Gone Wrong”, particularly the song “Love Henry”, which really fascinated me for some reason - and it’s one of my favorite album covers of Dylan’s as well.. good review, as always..
Glad to hear from you, Don. Nice to meet folks who also admire Dylan's '90s folk cover albums. I find myself listening to them quite often also. Cheers. Jeff
I think most people would agree with you there, Jay. I usually listen to them both at the same time, believe it or not....I put them on my iPod shuffle (yes, I still have one of those) and listen to them on my long bike rides.....
thank you for this series, i really appreciate the chance to revisit these albums and appreciate them in the detail they deserve
Thanks. I’m happy people are enjoying these videos which were meant to be an appreciation for this uniquely ingenious artist. Cheers! Jeff

I very rarely listen to these two albums (I am probably not alone here), but I can understand why he felt he needed to record them at the time.

Amen, brother! ;-)

Thank you for your great comment! I appreciate it. God bless you too, sir. Thanks again. Jeff
Thanks Jeff I have to admit of not playing this album for many years.I will have to give it a fresh listen in the light of your review
Hi Trevor. I know what you mean. I don’t listen to this album very often either but when I do I invariably wonder why. Cheers. Jeff
A great album for sure, highlighting Bob's love of the old time music that's on it. And delightful liner notes as well.

I've only listened to a few of his Radio Time radio shows (or whatever they're called) but yeah, he always talks just like he writes.

Yes it is quite unfortunately overlooked, indeed. So many marvelous songs, well interpreted and performed by the master. Thanks for your comment.

I'd love a review of the side tracks cd..
Good idea - I will add it to my queue of videos to make.
My #1 favorite Dylan album.
Wow, that is a unique choice for #1 favorite, but I've heard a few other fans state likewise. Very cool. I'll bet Dylan himself loves this album too.

I agree, Rocky. Love listening to these two early '90s cover albums.
I liked “Good As I Been To You”, but I absolutely loved “World Gone Wrong”, particularly the song “Love Henry”, which really fascinated me for some reason - and it’s one of my favorite album covers of Dylan’s as well.. good review, as always..
Love Henry is close to a folk masterpiece, I think. Such rich lyrics. I agree with you Thomas. Yeah, love the cover too. More than the previous one.
Fantastic Review. I have every every album, every release. I bought this album in Bourg en Bresse France. Great album
Glad to hear from you, Don. Nice to meet folks who also admire Dylan's '90s folk cover albums. I find myself listening to them quite often also. Cheers. Jeff
Love this album. My favourite of the two acoustic albums.

CalicoSilver Oh I’ll have to try that. Would be a great listen.
Are these from the boxset, do they sound clearer....
I don't know - I don't have my original to compare any more.
Good As I Been To You seems to me better than World Gone Wrong, I don't know why.
I find that I seem to enjoy Good As I Been To You more also. Perhaps it is just the songs chosen for it.
