I don't think any Africans in the dispora intentionally abandoned their roots or culture. First time commenting here. I admire you for honouring your mom with your channel name, WODE MAYA. I saw your channel for the first time a couple months ago. Since then , I check in frequently. Blessup and yes... for us who are descendants of those who were taken away from Africa... slavery is a big part of our history... Our ancestors were captured and traded to foreigners for weapons, assorted valuables and money... back then it was considered just business, but our people suffered. We live in a different world now and it would nice to see a unity among all african peoples... whether by slavery, colonization or tribal wars... we all have some pain and now that pain can be used as a common ground to unite us. Blessup Maya, one Love. #NewGeneration
I know how hard you work. So today I comment just to support you. The truth is that Africans on the continent did not know what actually happened because the ones who were snatched away never came back to tell us. Our history taught in school was sanitized to not mention the crimes against humanity. Movies romanticized life in the new world. It is only with Social Media that we are getting to hear of the horrors first-hand. But many of us now suffer from cognitive dissonance.
Hello Maya,we really appreciate what you're doing for us with your slogan "Africa to the world",I can't wait to see you and your team in my country of Sénégal where I'm watching you from presently.thanks a bundle!!!

Well if you haven't then don't comment!!! It is impressive that every video of foreigners visiting Brazil has Caribbean rhythms, cucarachas, as a musical background. This is imperialism! They level, out of ignorance, all the countries of Latin America, where each country has its own particularity, rhythms and totally different cultures!
Wow! This is an interesting perspective. I guess it could be from football and "samba". I run a global culture education programme where I showcase all cultures. What would you say its a more representative music of Brazil, please?
@@djpete2009In addition to Samba and Bossa Nova, which are really the most representative rhythms of Brazilian culture internationally, we have other more popular rhythms such as Brazilian Funk, Sertanejo Music (similar to Country Music), Forró, MPB, which are the rhythms that actually play the most on streaming and radios here in Brazil.

I love Brazil so much the most beautiful people very kind of people the most safest place to be these people are very unique different ❤❤
It is a cultural and very educational video ❤,thank you for teaching us the traditions and culture of our Africans brothres who live there,🇬🇶 from spain
Glad you enjoyed it
I have really enjoyed Brazil through this video.
Wode Maya I love what you do, you are bringing our people together one country at a time. There are so many of our people in the Caribbean countries and Islabds, you wouldn't believe your eyes. Some of our people don't acknowledge them selves as Africans but I know and accept my ancestral roots. I have been to Kenya and loved it. Africa is a special place to me. Do your thing, the universe will lead and provide for your travels.
This is truly the Brazil you do not see. The propaganda has been very strong. Caucasians typically have always shown the best part of their countries and show the worst part of other people who don’t look like them. And we have all bought into it. Thank you for showing us beautiful Brazil ❤
It’s heat warming to see that they have held on to their history. Beautiful episode, Maya.
What do you mean. Americans are always talking about the homeless people in their country
Its not propaganda. Brazil itself fails to show the world how amazing this country is.
@@davidk.d.7591 but they are very skilled to hide their failures under the superheroes stereotype.. they present themselves like they are the saviors of the world when in reality they are destroying democracies all over and are in the way of some countries getting autonomy. If the workers are starting to organize themselves, the USA is not shy to destroy a whole country
I am born and raised in Rio currently living in Amsterdam. It’s refreshing to see my country from your perspective
First time commenting here. I admire you for honouring your mom with your channel name, WODE MAYA. I saw your channel for the first time a couple months ago. Since then , I check in frequently. I majored in History and Geography in Teachers College. However, there is still so much to learn continuously and I am learning a lot from you! I am originally from Jamaica, now living in the countryside of Ontario Canada. Just love what you do. Your laugh is contagious. Keep on laughing. Blessings and protection to you! 🙏🙏
My beautiful country my wife is from Brazil my first daughter is born in Brazil before i move to USA i miss Brazil a lot God bless Brazil ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so proud of you and all that you do! Thank you for connecting South America and Africa! From an American living in Ghana.❤
I never knew Brazil is this developed.
Is more developed than some European countries.
I have been living in EU and I have to agree with you.
I lived in Valinhos a beautiful city some 80 kilometres away from Sao Paulo. My children were born in Sao Paulo at the Albert Einstein hospital! I miss Brazil a lot! Que saudades❤.
Albert Einstein...? What did he do for Brazil...I wonder ..🤔
@@duchess56me-tf7fxhe was a great physician for the whole humanity.
@@duchess56me-tf7fx It's a tribute 💁♂️
Valinhos...ótima cidade
Thanks for showing us a different side of Brazil. Watching you from Grenada in the Caribbean. Stay safe.
Spice island of the West Indies 🇬🇩💯
Beautiful city of Brazil 🇧🇷 and yes it looks very clean 👌 we love you Africa to the world continue ❤ 💙 ♥
Watching from the United States of America Baltimore Maryland
I am Brazilian and I have been to Baltimore twenty-two years ago.
I appreciate this
Hello Maya,we really appreciate what you're doing for us with your slogan "Africa to the world",I can't wait to see you and your team in my country of Sénégal where I'm watching you from presently.thanks a bundle!!!
MAYA AND HIS TEAM WERE IN SENEGAL 🇸🇳 FEW YEARS AGO .
Love that he is showing not just Africa, but the African diaspora. It matters!
Legend always been a big fan keep doing it for Africa..Love from Somalia
We can never get tired of watching......you are not alone Maya. You are a true son of the land (Mighty Africa 🌍 )!!!!
Keep up the good work 💪💪💪. Re-Watching from Malawi 🇲🇼 🇲🇼 🇲🇼
Thanks Wodemaya for this wonderful education on a dark chapter of African history in the great nation of Brazil.
Love your videos, they are full of joy and warmth from all the people that you meet. Bless you man! Keep showing all the dark beautiful people. We are all children of the most High God!
Brazil is indeed a beautiful place to live.
I love Brazil ❤
Greetings from California my brother! Love your editing, music & style! Keep up the great work.
Brazil is absolutely beautiful. I never knew it is so developed...I will definitely have to visit. Thank you for reposting the video.❤
You are always welcome to Brazil 🇧🇷 anyway I was the translator
I’m speechless! Woda, may the universe bless your endeavours around the globe!!!
If you are still in South America and want to back home, there are two flights you can take from Brazil to Cape town or Johannesburg direct flight and cheap too.
You can even go through Ethiopia
We need flights from west Africa too.hope business men and women are listening (Peace Airlines NG)
I was in Sao Paolo in 2012 and i can truly say that the people are one of the nicest in the world...very diversell!!! beautiful city, very friendly people and you can literally ask anyone on the streets for help with anything ....i personally didnt experience any racism and i was there only a few weeks so i cant speak for everyone but i felt at home and will definitely visit again
You must be white, not Black!
@beulahokonkwo oh No!!! I'm a pure blooded African born and raised....and have been to many countries...everyone's experiences are different...did you ever visit Brazil? Well if you haven't then don't comment!!! As a traveller I can tell you for a fact that there's more Racism and Colourism in the USA where I currently reside, than there is in Brazil...so if you don't have any experiences, don't make false allegations and assumptions...
@kingkweku9761 there is definitely racism there.
@@jlionmenelik77 did you experience it when you were there?
Thank you maya for the wonderful work that you are doing. You are a man of integrity and wisdom. You have a purpose and with God as your guide you are going to accomplish your goals. The great Jamaican singer Peter Tosh said, “ no matter where you come from,if you’re a black man, you’re an African “ .
You need to check out Guyana. It’s right next door to Brazil; a beautiful Country that speaks English and the people are friendly. You can contact the Guyana Tourism Authority and they will give you a royal treatment and welcome to the Country- also take you around to different places.
The Lady you interviewed about tattoos is a famous TH-camr, from MyNews Channel. Her name is Mara Luquet. 😄
kkkkkkkkkkkkk eu sabia que conhecia ela de algum lugar
I am from Angola and currently watching from Portugal, I have subscribed in your youtube channel very recently , and I have watched many of your videos already. I liked you being in Surename , it was amazing and I didn´t realize the existence of that country in South America, apart of showing Africa culture, you have also teaching and changing mind-set of africans in Diaspora, keep inspiring people, I enjoy the way you do it with so kind and humble. That Hug. 🤝💪💪
It is impressive that every video of foreigners visiting Brazil has Caribbean rhythms, cucarachas, as a musical background. This is imperialism! They level, out of ignorance, all the countries of Latin America, where each country has its own particularity, rhythms and totally different cultures!
I noticed the same thing...
Wow! This is an interesting perspective. I guess it could be from football and "samba". I run a global culture education programme where I showcase all cultures. What would you say its a more representative music of Brazil, please?
@@djpete2009In addition to Samba and Bossa Nova, which are really the most representative rhythms of Brazilian culture internationally, we have other more popular rhythms such as Brazilian Funk, Sertanejo Music (similar to Country Music), Forró, MPB, which are the rhythms that actually play the most on streaming and radios here in Brazil.
you should search for Catira, a caipira dance a bit similar to tap dance@@djpete2009
Yes Brazil is Samba, Bossa Nova not Latin Caribbean music.
Re-watching the video again. It was visually amazing first time but even more so the second time.
Wode Maya, your video captures the hidden treasures of Brazil and reconnects them back to Africa!❤
I don't know. I stumbled to know you, but you are the best son Africa could ever have. You have globalised and united Africa and the world.
I love to see that you are expanding out of Africa to other nations where people of African descent reside. So awesome!!
I knew Brazil when I was young because of football Maya you make me love Brazil even more may God continue protecting you bro ❤❤
Africa loves you Wode Maya. . thanks for embracing Darkito
Love what you're doing.
Love from Suriname
Who else was watching the views changing every second. Wode Maya thanks for extending the narrative beyond Africa. The story of our time.
In this video of you showing us the magical City of San Polo my thoughts just changed about Brazil.
I love the background song, it's refreshing!!!
Thanks for showing us this beautiful part of Brazil 🇧🇷....I'm visiting soon.
It’s amazing seeing Wode Maya explore and educating us about other cultures of the world not only Africa 👏🏾👏🏾
Wode you’re definitely a great son of Africa. Brazil 🇧🇷 is a beautiful country passed through there in 2019 via Panama 🇵🇦 to Jamaica 🇯🇲. You definitely make me want to visit it properly 🇯🇲🇳🇬🇺🇸🇺🇸🇳🇬🇯🇲🇯🇲🇳🇬🇺🇸 Wode please what’s the name of that Nigerian store?
I loved the first take you did on Brazil, and I am watching this from Sweden. Keep up the tremendous work of bringing Africa to the world.
It was very refreshing to see this video with Afro Brazilians who are proud of and loving their culture there.
I'm on that would love to go to Brazil;I've had the opportunity to visit Panama and Cuba and loved the experience of meeting the people of African Ancestry.
Ty for making this great cultural video.
Very enlightening video. I felt like I was there in Brazil with you, Wode Maya.

Brazil is really clean and beautiful. Thank you.
Cant wait to do Brazil❤
This is one place I would like to visit one day. Thanks, Wode Maya, for sharing. Keep doing what you do.
Thank you, I will
Thanks brother for doing this! Your attempt at Portuguese was mostly Spanish (somewhat) lol. Most of the music in the background is salsa, you could have used some samba music.Much blessing brother
