I did this with the tub we found at our 155 year old farm house. Sanded it by hand forever. Used epoxy paint and it came out fine. Worth the work. Love the channel.

Love the history behind the tub 👍🏼 my Wife and I bought a Victorian home built in 1841 . We are in the process of restoring and one thing is the tub and I’m doing it today . That camera your using is absolutely amazing in the color. Thanks for the story Brotha 👍🏼

I did. Once I realized that I couldn't get the porcelain redone that was my 2nd choice. But when I researched it there have been quite a few people that tried that and were not happy with the results. This Ekopel 2k appears to be the most durable finish othe than the reporcelaining.

I did pretty good with constant scraping and sponging, but it took 4 hours. Are you not worried about lead, because it is more of a liquid mess? I still wore a mask to be safe. Thanks!

For the exterior you can use any type paint you like. But there is no paint that will hold up on the inside from what I found. I even tried looking into powder coating. The only two options I found that would last on the inside were the two part epoxy that I used or getting it re-porcilined.
I have an L Wollf tub from 1901 that is missing the feet. We are following your methods for restoring it (currently stripping years of paint off it) and trying to find a set of feet. Do you have any idea where to look, or is it possible to get a close up view of what your feet look like?

Yes, by the time I moved back into the old house my oldest brother had lived in it for a time and upgraded it to running water, so by the time I moved back there were no more cisterns and pitcher pumps. Do tell what happened to your tub? I thought they were all but indestructible....
@@ArkansasHomesteader without me knowing someone in my family took it, I say they stoled it. The tub sat in my dog kennels for years. That person was living hard times and took it for money. I was showing my house n when i walked into the kennel i yelled, someone stole my tub! I was not happy.
If by restoring you mean re-porcelaining it, its sort of cost prohibitive. That's what I was wanting to do, but the cost was going to be about $1200 plus another 500 shipping. You can buy a brand new cast iron claw tub for that amount.

there is a place in missouri that does re-porcelain jobs, I priced getting an old cast double farm sink done. it was near $2000 to have that done.
Ouch. I knew it would be a 1000.00, but for 2000.00 I think I would try this Ekopel 2k first anyway. Hope your sink turns out great.

I just took mine to a sandblaster, cleaned it to bare metal.
We have one that we need to clean up, repaint, and get the appropriate fixtures for so we can have it installed.

I think I just used a rustoleum spray can primer.
I did some powder coating of things in the past, never tried it on something so large, but would maybe work?
Did you consider having an auto body place give it a good quality paint job ? Not that the route ur taking isn’t good also
