John Wesson 19 terrorists died on 9/11. The joke is that you assume he is talking about the innocents that died, until he says they lost "19 of their best guys", when you realize he's actually talking about the terrorists.
My boyfriend (a comedian from an immigrant Muslim family, just like Kumail) and I (a nerdy white academic, just like Zoe) watched it together and HOLY SHIT IT WAS GOOD
I walked out of the theatre, and two women in their midtwenties behind, and I quote, "I laughed, I cried, it was wonderful." And yes, I too teared up, and laughed out loud, many times throughout the movie.
Colbert didn't give much back..did he? I hate when hosts do that. They get uncomfortable with a quick witted guest and just switch off.. Unfortunate. Ellen is kind a similar that way. Kimmel is good in that respect he laughs along with guests vibe.
@@ClaireDCoaching ''Rotten Tomatoes'' is viewed as one of the most reputable movie/television review sites. It has official critic ratings as well as a separate user rating. It's pretty much the internet standard of what people reference when debating whether a movie is good or not.
"So... uh... 9/11. Where do you stand?" "Well, I think it's time the United States started writing it and saying it '11/9,' like the _rest_ of the world. I mean that's just good sense."
Seb Russ techinacally it's in the right order if it's year first then month and day. That's how it's done in Asia. I think. But America mess up the order completely by mixing month and day only.
I've never actually watched this guy in a show or movie but every time I see him interviewed he genuinely makes me laugh until I cry. So freaking funny.
That is such a sharp suit, kumail looking more and more like a pakistani denzel. Man, that show is stacked with superstars. Feels like theyr ushering a new breed of really smart comedy post- community (which was meta centric and genre bending). Every actor just steals the show in that one.
Is it just me or was Stephen really standoffish and kinda seemed like he wasn't feeling the interview. Like he wasn't really trying to converse and it kinda seem like Kumail was carrying the conversation. Just me? Okay :/
@selena it's not Muslims it's comedians. He does this with Jim Jefferies, bill burr, etc. He doesn't respond we'll to comedians. He's better with politicians and people who aren't funny
y’all are just jumping to conclusions now... have you ever thought that he was just tentatively LISTENING and letting his guest speak instead of constant interruption?
pretty sure it won't release in half the places. Look at what's in cinemas right now. There's POC, Wonderwoman, there's gonna be spiderman. Theatres aren't gonna kick those movies out to make room for the big sick regardless of the reception. You'd maybe be able to catch the movie in an expensive theatre.
+awesome420ication That's not very accurate info, are you from India? There are literally 30 movies in almost 3-4 languages being shown in theatres all round metro cities currently. Depends on the city as well, Bombay has a very active movie going crowd so there's room for all kinds of films. Plus 'The Big Sick' is listed in the Book My Show website as coming soon on 30th June. A film like this has the market here considering it has Anupam kher and it's bout an American Pakistani guy, so even though it might not be in theaters for long, it'll definitely release for a limited period.
I love Kumail's simplicity, genuineness, humility, and humor. He's next to Keanu Reeves as celebrity men in real life who I admire and aspire to be like.
Another great film I have to wait for until it comes to Netflix because my local theatres have not good taste, not at all. Kumail has such grea timing. The interview was hysterical!
Good point. If the guest is from the south do they get fiddle and banjo music? Does Connan O'Brien get Irish Celtic music? If not they need to check their stereotypes.
Love how Colbert always has underrated or not very well known artists on this show !! Most late night shows only invite super famous celebrities. Mad respect to Colbert!
Anupam Kher is like Robert De Niro is a bit farfetched. He has rarely played a leading man. He's a character actor. He's more like the Danny Devito of Bollywood.
This movie was such a surprise - Ray Romano is really surprising - It's crazy that this is a true story -- it's funny, awkward, touching and just very real. Definitely recommend!
"We lost 19 of our best guys"... I lost it right there.
Misha Espinoza me too
Just now “got it” !
Smae😂😂😂😭
i swear im crying ! THAT KILLED ME !
i dont get it
we lost 19 of our best guys... man i am dead laughing.
That caught me off guard and I had tears in my eyes... so good!
I'm sooo watching that movie when it comes out this side of the world. lol
I replayed the scene like 10~15 times!
can you explain the joke to me I didn't get it.
John Wesson 19 terrorists died on 9/11. The joke is that you assume he is talking about the innocents that died, until he says they lost "19 of their best guys", when you realize he's actually talking about the terrorists.
“My character uses jokes to deflect his feelings” HE PLAYS HIMSELF
Yeah
We all do
He was waving at his parents-in-laws at the beginning awww
Shit yeah.. at 0:27 right
"We lost 19 of our best guys" - i'm dying!!!

Surely big fans of Anupam Kher should be "Kher Bears"
My exact thought! I now feel old and sad....
That's what I was thinking too!! Haha
Jacob Tierney that’s not how its pronounced though
Bruh...
LAHORI PLAY BOY. They should deport you back to the shithole you came from!
Man, I love watching Kumail and Colbert
The Big Sick is the best romcom in a long while, loved it! Hope the film is super successful.
How do you know when it hasn't been released yet?
advanced screening. I went to one as well. The film was great ;-)
It straight up made me cry and laugh with dried tears on my face. Great movie
I walked out of the theatre, and two women in their midtwenties behind, and I quote, "I laughed, I cried, it was wonderful." And yes, I too teared up, and laughed out loud, many times throughout the movie.
The clip was hilarious, definitely gonna check out the movie
Yeah, Kumail and Ray Romano seem like a great combination.
I liked the movie hilarious
Kumail is always so charming and delightful anytime he's on tv. I love his dry sense of humour.
Colbert didn't give much back..did he? I hate when hosts do that. They get uncomfortable with a quick witted guest and just switch off.. Unfortunate. Ellen is kind a similar that way. Kimmel is good in that respect he laughs along with guests vibe.
Which is why I always say, Conan is the king of interviewers in this regard.
A Hmm Yeah. Craig Ferguson was the king of appreciating the guests natural wit and rolling with it. Still miss that dude.
Megan Ripley I miss Craig Ferguson every day.
Even fallon laughs a lot
Kumail was so funny the audience loved him! Stephen just played the straight man usually not his role!
Kumail is just smart, sarcastic, observant and funny.
His comedy is so good, it takes your mind off things.
Emily and him are legit adorable. All the interviews they have together are so cute.
THIS MOVIE HAS 98% ROTTEN TOMATOES.
cristina solano Do you mean fresh tomatoes?Rotten tomatoes means it's bad.
Astute Schizoid You know what he means
Ya it was good but not great.
I don’t. Is a high score on rotten tomatoes a good thing?

Silicon Valley. HBO. Him in a room with 5 similar style comedians.
Stephen - "He's blowin' up!"
Kumail - (I'm going to let this one go.)

he was NOT in community, he was in SILICON VALLEY!!! Community college series had some other half-Polish-half-Pakistani-guy omg.

@@chicawhappa he was a janitor and antagonist in the last season of Community
I swear, I have laughed so hard every time I have seen that cafeteria clip. It just holds up that much - that's the level of hilarious it is.
love Kumail Nanjiani'ss comedy. Long live The Indoor Kids.
Lots of love from Indian, I love his response he gives when people ask him questions on Islam or Pakistan
Colbert reminds me of a mature 'Where's Waldo'
Que… What?
"You had a break-up before she went into coma"
That was really stupid question. And Kumail had the best reply
Is it just me or was Stephen really standoffish and kinda seemed like he wasn't feeling the interview. Like he wasn't really trying to converse and it kinda seem like Kumail was carrying the conversation. Just me? Okay :/

Seth's great, but I would have preferred two segments with Kumail over two segments with Seth.
Why not both?! :)
True. Could have just done without the Paul Shaffer interview and done two segments with both Kumail and Seth.
Kumail is so funny! I'll watch The Big Sick for sure - great premise.
“Oh... anti.”
That was the best joke in the movie
Can't wait for this to release in India!!

He speaks better than 98% of Americans lol. Completely correct.
it is a comedy 😂
Kumail and Colbert the best
Have been a fan since saw his first stand up bit
love this guy
When he talks about his girlfriends love of birds, I cried. I related so much. I watch them and laugh at their antics. Can even do bird calls.
of course Stay Human would play some quasi-middle eastern modal music to play Kumail on lolololol
Greg Newton although they did it blatantly to a south Asian guest in the past..didn't think the music this time was middle eastern necessarily
Good point. If the guest is from the south do they get fiddle and banjo music? Does Connan O'Brien get Irish Celtic music? If not they need to check their stereotypes.
I thought it was a dope chart tbh. Have no problem with them playing it. I just thought it was funny. They probably talked about it beforehand.
you realise guests normally request for the song right?
I think it was an instrumental version of Habibi Ya Einy, I couldn't quite tell.
The Big Sick is the best movie of the year. Period.
I'm gonna watch this shit HARD. That joke was super sharp. hahaha
Kumail's press tour jokes on point
