You can tell that is decent just by looking at the steak, eggs, and potatoes. Finally he found somewhere half cop,
I am also shocked that he finally found somewhere decent and didn’t have his pants pulled down.
Server brings out a plate of food and just as you're about to tuck in, immediately takes it back to the kitchen. I'm sure I've seen that on a "Fawlty Towers" sketch!

I had a similar rainy hour in NYC when I went, I loved it, so atmospheric and puts the city in a whole new "light"
Diner Food.
When it's bad it's good, when it's good it's exceptional and when it's exceptional it's out of this World!!!
In addition to the above, I have often said that some of the finest Cooks on the Planet work in a Diner; There is no hiding, it's good food, done well...All day long.
And the Lady that brought your brekkie out - You could hear the disappointment in her voice when she realised that the steak was slightly under - I would not have liked to be the Cook when she marched back through the Doors of Deliciousness!!!
To sit in a 24hr cafe .. at 2am and jus watch the world go by

I am really enjoying your NYC series Darren. I love the fact that you are going to these diners and trying American dishes. I've seen other vloggers come to NYC only to eat full English breakfasts. That meal did look OTC.
It’s not blood lol. But fair enough. And you can get steak and eggs in about 100 places in the uk

I'd prefer to have seen runny yolks with that steak but other than that I couldn't fault it. Great to see an on-the-ball server, too, one who seems to care about the customer's dining experience.

I’ve been living in America since 96 & you still can’t beat a good English breakfast, I swear it’s all edible, but I have never had a great American breakfast 😞 I agree about the coffee
Me since '93 and I agree 100%........but I like black pudding and back bacon. ugh

Finally the food looked great, a big portion mind you, but all the same looked tasty too. I am sorry I may have missed it, but how much was it?
I love, love, LOVE a good proper English/Irish breakfast. I visited Ireland twice and Scotland once. Absolutely LOVED it. But still....a true steak and egg breakfast in the US, especially with biscuits (scones) and cream/peppered/sausage gravy,....that's just as good.

Refreshing to see a person from the U.K., holding the fork in the right hand and knife in the left hand and not loading up food on the "back of the fork"! The food and portions look very good. What happened to the poched eggs on the hash?

Finally, found a decent spot that looked good, and the service was outstanding.
9th Ave is miles long. You should give a cross street to make the diner easier to find.
Oh that New York coffee on your first morning when your U.K. body wakes you up at 4am. That first refill is as close to heaven as coffee can get
Now that is a proper breakfast. Looked delicious. Smile on the face a definite YES.
All a bit much for 8am. Need a sleep after guzzling that.

Thanks for introducing me to a Steak and Eggs breakfast. Great alternative fry-up. Better than Poached Eggs, Avocado and Tomatoes served up by Mrs. And Sourdough toasted.

The corned beef is out of a tin in the hash. If you want real corned beef hash there’s a restaurant in Pershing Square next to grand union station that serves the real thing.

Glass carafe coffeemakers make the best coffee.Dripped through a filter not boiled in a percolator and made from good boiling water,not hot water put in a French Press.I saw a video on Queens Night Market which is open 4pm to midnight on saturdays.It's like a Farmers market of food and if I was there when it was open I would definitely go.

Besides their tea is usually absolutely terrible 🤠 Reminds me when I ordered a steak sandwich for breakfast - when it came out I said “that’s not mine, I ordered a sandwich” because there was a pile of fries and peas and a great big steak. The waitress said “ Oh! The bread is underneath the steak, I can bring another slice and put it on top as well if you’d like”
You cannot get a good cuppa tea in the States.😀
Great food video. American diner fare only gets better the further west you travel. I think your webcam mic made the diner sound noisier than it was. I've seen other TH-camrs use those clip on noise reduction Bluetooth mics.

Coffee in the UK is not only pish, it's a complete rip off. Even Tim Horton's(total pish everywhere) charges more in £s than Canadians pay in the much weaker $.
Way back in 2011, we had breakfast in Eisenberg's Sandwich, opposite The Flatiron Building. Their home fries were off-the-scale. The shop is still there, I believe, one where you sit up at the counter, if you like. Authentic.

It's true what you say about diners, Darren, they're quintessentially American. I bet you're a big watcher of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network?
On the coffee front, I think the UK seems to rely too much on instant coffee and that's where we suffer.

We are Australian and when we visited the US we could never eat a full meal because the portions are huge. So it turned out cheap for us because we always shared one meal. Its hard to catch onto the tipping culture though.
You should venture downtown into Chinatown. You’ll find authentic restaurants at much much more affordable prices

I absolutely love American style scrambled egg and have watched loads of videos of how it's made but just can't get it spot-on,close,but not quite right and it really pisses me off 'cause it looks so simple
It might just be me but why does everything look burnt? Steak looks banging and eggs 😋😋 but the rest looks burnt, it could just be my eyesight 🤣🤣 much love as always ❤❤❤ always love a new video 😊😊😊

Hiya Darren, first off. Did you get the camera back from the cab?? The foodie bit. Steak'n'eggs. Excellent choice Sir. However, don't think I've ever seen it with scrambled eggs 🤔 Think I'll stick with fried. Just loved the sight of the corndbeef hash dark, crispy, crunchy. Perfect. Good looking toast as well. In short a right fine meal with brilliant customer service. Which leads me to tell you, yesterday took my wife & son to the ". The Breakout Cafe" Money well spent (including the taxis there and back👌👍😋) Another winning video 😊Allan&Family

Never heard of having a steak medium to well done in the morning, but honestly I could not face a steak before lunch.

Diners are constantly brewing fresh coffee in small glass pots and serving them in ceramic mugs, coffee is acidic so it’s not great in metal brewers , plastic pods, or styrofoam cups, those little differences make an overall huge difference, and my go to is a ribeye and eggs, it’s awesome, lol, flame is decent spot, and there are tons of small coffee shop/diners all over Manhattan that are amazing, safe travels, enjoy

Best coffee in the world you get from a barista in Australia. Tipping though is a joke, if they paid the staff more than the minimum wage of about $8 an hour which is pitiful they wouldn't need to ask for a tip.
Glad you received good service and great food in my home Country. I love my corned beef hash with Heinz ketchup, just gives it a bit of added taste. Try corn beef hash with two over medium eggs and potatoes. Also if you get a chance cross the bridge and go to Rutts Hut in Clifton great hotdogs. New Jersey also has the best diners
