90bu Wheat? 😳

- So we have arrived at the first 1/4 Mike bought back in 2020 and with that has had the most money invested into the land bringing up the soil health.
This also happens to be the 1/4 with 40-80ac of heavy trash (organic matter) that Mike was trying to seed through this spring - see video here.
• Should have harrowed 🤦...
Spoiler Alert: The non-harrowed high organic matter ran 100bu avg due to the moisture retention of the July heat and lack of rain at filling. But the rest of the fleld did not do that, so the whole field avg was around 88-90bu ish acre. Still amazing though! And very thankful!

Actually getting to watch some crop roll into the hopper can almost make a farmer giddy with excitement. Work all year to see SOME significant resuĺts. Good to see !
SOOOOO satisfying watching you combine that beautiful wheat with the commentary of course….what an amazing yield!!!!! God bless you all !!!!
Mike, congratulations on the excellent crop. I grew up on a farm in the Swan River Valley region. East of your north farm just inside the Manitoba border. In 60-years, we have never experienced a complete crop failure. You are working too hard farming in two regions Buddy. Consider divesting the south farm and expand the north. The reason the Swift Current is a "Brown" Soil zone is because over hundreds/thousands of years, the area is/will always subject to drought/low rainfall.
OMG that header and combine is doing a magnificent job in those conditions :) great video :)
Best crops if seen You harvest in years hope it keeps on keeping
last years north crop was equally good
Great to see you reaping a high yield crop. Making the John Deere work. Good stuff👍
What's your verdict of the x9?
Usually it comes down to dealer support and the best bang for you bucks. Speed, fuel efficiency how breakdowns.
Most combines do a pretty good far as quality of grain.
Soposed to be a new Case combine coming out soon.
Likely a class 10. Probably similar to the Newholland combine.
Think u will try Red one next time if the reviews of it are good?
I think some are somewhat disappointed in the x9.
They felt it should have had a little more power a little more capacity for the money anyway.
Congratulations
Thank you. Glad you finally have something to good to cut. 😊
Wow! You need to plant all wheat.😊
Mike does John Deere connect you about your displeasure with the X9 in the Lentils plugging up the combine?
Organic matter is key in drought conditions and for soil health.
in the uk cover crops are becoming more of a thing for topsoil retention, moisture retention and ground cover, even in our generally wet climate were starting to get really really dry springs and early summers where you need the moisture we get non, and then the summer is wet when you dont want it . the cover crops also have root systems which help keep the soil healthy.
@@bens8919 Using more and more cover crops mid Midwest. My cousin start it no telling in the mid-70s.
That has helped a lot but we are more soy beans and corn here with some wheat.
Covered soil is key!
Once somebody sees a top comment they give it a like cuz it has a lot of likes not cuz they like it
Organic material and cover crops is the key but that far north, in Canada, there ain't nothing going to grow though winter time .
Proposal of the sample window cleaning : Aquarium Glass Magnetic Cleaning Brush
i wonder if the 1100 would have a faster ground speed than the 1000 that you are in.
Maybe you should be cutting green lentils and maybe you need to start harrowing op there to managing the residue 😊
🔥heck ya mike… all your herd work and field management is paying off in a big way 🔥👊🔥🏍⚙️🔨🚜
How is the capacity running? Bu/hr? That is the X9?
Around 2.5 tons per acre not too bad and around the European average for spring wheats
And hopefully one day you will abandon the imperial measurements overlords south of you😂 and move to metric because converting bushels/acres to metric takes a while since every crop has a different bushel to weight ratio almost like we are in the 1800s and selling grain by the bucket and not by truck/train or ship load
We might use imperial unit of measurement in the US but we still sell it by weight. We use Bushels as a unit of volume not as weight. You have to convert bushels (volume) into weight using test weight to get your Lbs. We get paid by the Bushels that’s what we have convert everything. It’s really not that complicated.
Was the investment worth it?
What is lodging?
When the crop falls over.
It would be interesting to know how much Mike's videos hurt Ideal sales and helped Deere. In today's world all the advertising doesn't make up for poor review on a popular You Tube channel.
I imagine the Ideal problems did hurt Ideals future sales
Some places in Saskatchewan are happy if they get 20Bu/acre since 2016. Must be nice to have 90bu/acre, and run an X9. And have the time to do videos about. Fuckin tit don’t know how good he has it.
😆 Please tell me how you really feel about it!.. But apparently you don't know me or seen any other videos.
watching videos for a short period, why doenst he plant corn or soybeans? it's because of the cold spring and short period of growth?
Because corn and soybeans aren’t the only crops in the world. I know that’s a foreign concept for most USA farmers. Mike isn’t subsidized to the gills to grow those crops so he doesn’t.
tu conais pas PRODAX--MEDAX de basf pour la verse du blé
Odd🤔the mighty x9 was advertised at 1.2 million. And advertised to replace 2 S series combines. But can only harvest at 2mph🤔. Very odd. Ya ill stick to a combine thats a couple hundred grand cheaper and does the exact same thing. If not better
If the crop wasn't lodged, he could cut higher, less straw, and he could run faster. That's a lot of crop material to ram through ANY machine .
Also he said he could cut faster… Mike just doesn’t want loses. A smaller cheaper machine will cut close to this (not with a 50’ header) but you will be losing more out the back so what are you really gaining??
If you used a plan to spray the field why are there tractor trails in your fields
Actually, the plane was used for all the pre-harvest other than the lentils up north. The tracks you see in the wheat was from the ground unit during FHB fungicide timing earlier in the growing season. The plan was to follow the same tracks for pre-harvest but we ran out man power and it was easier to get the plane to finish it all off.
It's nice to see you combining a field where you can actually achieve some enjoyment time & not have to constantly dealing with the "Plugged Demon"
If he wasn't just complaining and making content he could have it resolved. He could install s-series chopper knives or remove guides under the discharge beater, remove ramps on the floor of the chopper or even try the chopper in 1st not 2nd.
In the right conditions, all combines and equipment operate like they are meant to. There is more than one reason most crops can't be harvested green and plugging combines is just a small one.
@@alexdyck6339I don't know how much you think he makes from TH-cam, but thousands of dollars of downtime from a plugged machine isn't a good investment for the Tube.
And in the middle of harvest isn't a good time to do a major retrofit at his own expense on a machine Deere messed up on.
@@alexdyck6339also, the issue as I understand it is that there is a shelf basically between the chopper and the spreader that doesn't have any mechanism to move material across it, and some products build up on the shelf and then it backs up into the chopper.
So the issue is the dead zone not the blades.
@@alexdyck6339 again I say, he is losing more money from the down time than he is making in YT revenue, so claiming that he's not fixing it because he wants the drama is silly.
Plus, he has the dealer on speed dial, do you not think that he HASN'T been talking to them about it, and would get it taken care of by them if they were willing or able to do anything?
He may also have parts on order, or someone scheduled to deal with it.
Wow, 90 bushel wheat! You guys definitely deserve it. Many blessing for you all .
It's good to see you harvesting a super good crop Mike
I agree, but a bit longer video would be nice for our enjoyment too 🤓
Mike. It would be smart. To. Divest in the. South. Farm. And buy more land up north
Mike. This makes my day. Congratulations on a good crop.
Man i had a neighbor that had a 125bu wheat this year. Just mint hey. Protien wasnt good but il take a yeild over a protein anyday
We had some 100 bushel soft white at northern Sask. we had our 8080 with a 30 foot swath going about 3.5
I thought your x9 should do that at least in the wheat
You are probably doing a better job but I still would have been going faster
Exciting to see you cutting in a high yielding crop! I so appreciate your humility and humor in your videos
So could you figure out how many acres in the north would it take to equal the acres in the south ?
I am happy for you mike, you worked hard to get that crop and you deserve it.
Look at that crop! I thought I was watching somebody else's channel! lol This is wonderful, MIke--hope they all get back to looking like this next year. Heaven knows you deserve it.
To the power of 10
Straw mulch helps soil retain moisture? Who knew?😆
There is a fine line between too much though that is too hard to plant and leads to disease issues. If it was easy, everybody would still be doing it.
Whens the fendt 1167 reveiw coming
Nice crop Mike, glad to see your north crops are substantially better than they were down south. I recommend using a vertical till on this field to break up the trash, especially if you are planning to seed canola again next year. Eventually that trash build up is going to give you Disease problems
Mike, witnessing your successful harvest of such a bountiful crop is truly inspiring! It's a joy to watch you work seamlessly in the fields, free from the constant hassle of the dreaded 'Plugged Demon.' Your dedication to agriculture and the efficiency of your machines not only ensures a prosperous yield but also allows you the precious gift of enjoying your time in the fields. Keep up the fantastic work - you're not just farming, you're crafting a masterpiece!
Awesome Wheat crop but… holy smokes this might be a mess to plant next spring with all kinds of plugs on the drill. 😬
Not if it's Heavy Harrowed
Mike, you deserve a good crop, after all the crop failures you had

Great video Mike, as always. Warmest regards to you and yours from this southern Alberta farmer/rancher.
Glad to see you cutting a good crop Mike! So happy for you guys, you have had some TERRIBLE weather the past couple years
All. The. Best. And. Good luck. Nice to. See you get a yield
Nice crop … what variety is that?
I’ve grown AC Brandon and Starbuck last yr. Two powerful varieties.
Impressive organic matter from the canola.
So fun to see you get to cut the crop your hard work and commitment deserves!!
Happy Birthday on 10-8
Mike great to see some of that down wheat problem..
Was that field cleansed and treated with extra potash, by some flames and mushroom cloud? Picture perfect example how correctly, applied fire helps immeasurably? The many multiple residue easily makes up for and recovers the burn fuel??? I think im going to go have one of thosemocha power shakes in celelabration!
Did the math. Looks like 1200-1300bu/hr. You are keeping it down to keep loss down. Nice to see. A bushel per acre is a lot of money if you can make the time to get the rest of it.
Hi Mike, do you not use lifters on your header? When I was combining here in the UK I don't remember ever taking them off. Apart from repairs to the knife etc.
3:45 does this Lodging happen because of rain and wind? Just wondering why it’s such a limited area? 🤔❤️🖖🏼
Glad to see a successful crop after so many years of frustration with drought in the South Farms . . . . . 👍 🌾
In watching the amount of time and inputs and labour that it takes to grow and harvest a crop these days, I cannot but wonder as to how difficult it must have been for your forefathers Mike who only had horse power to till, seed and harvest even a quarter section.
Glad to see you show all the troubles and break downs you have it makes me feel normal
Thebwaybthebheadernwent in greenlentiĺlsis not the fault of the header. It is fault.of smingreen crop
I tilt the header to about4degrees in that lodged stuff.
It tips the guard points downward just a little , otherwise the header just slides over a lot of the heads, and hit #3 to get on the ground.
Then get thru the lodged stuff, back to 0 degrees.and #2.
But I think you might want to heavy harrow that stubble.
Just my thoughts.
Time to move out of the desert
I have a question. How good does it feel when everything comes together to make a great yield?
According to Peter Johnson the physiological limit for wheat is 7 kernels per row
Makes me wonder just how big could one get them heads😂🍞
Cheers from Ontario
Heck yeah man yall deserve a good crop and hopefully everyone in North America harvesting currently is having a safe productive harvest! Lord knows we need it!
Do you work for a custom company? How many acres do you farm? It seems like you’re all over the place.
Mike are you never bail the straw for the dairy farmers?🤔
That way you could earn some money for that too.😉
You should really drop a pan behind that thing they brought one out again this year with bars low it was throwing 4 bushels in wheat. After they calibrated gauges it got to .5
Woow, impresive yield 100bu/ac it's about 6,7 t/ha in our European metric system, never seen such numbers of spring wheat, usually it tops at 5t/ha
i would put a light on the wire of the horn :P
probly saves you the warning
organic matter is the reason soil retained moisture
It took years to build up organic matter
Put some corn in and that'd clean up your organic matter in no time, and as a side bonus, it'll sure get the neighbours talking even if it doesn't yield worth a crap 😂
Except it’s still green as Silage corn in early September. 😂
Your rotor speed needs to be 20% more than S-Series. You have 24” rotors compared to 30” on the S-Series. Should be minimum 1150 rpm in HRS wheat. Usually 1200-1250 rpm. You are running it the same speed as the S-Series. 😂
You should be doing 20 ac/hr minimum in the good standing wheat at 90 bu/ac with less than 0.5 bu/ac loss. Get your dealer to dial it in for you if you don’t know how. Throw loss pans and set your Performance target on your loss monitor.
Thankyou for the comment and information, we did do the pan thing last year in 80bu wheat and you're right I am not running the rotors to capacity if I am pushing the combine. But I want to be 0.15-0.25 loss and we couldn't get last year using the full capacity of the combine no matter what we did. So I just take my time because I know my expectations are high 🙂
Mike I have a question; What combine did you get Chapel into this year? 😅 Have a safe harvest!!
It's always weird (and I hope this doesn't sound critical as it's not meant to) to think that Mike is far removed from he is doing in a given video. For example, he could be done harvest at this stage, but this is nearly 3 weeks ago. Just neat to think
He better be finished because I woke up to snow here this morning in Montana and I heard SE Saskatchewan had a couple inches as well
He has been done for awhile now
I am so glad to see you finally get to harvest an excellent crop.
In europe winter wheat would yield anywhere between 10 and 12 t/ha, which would be double of your yield, but we need a lot af treatments, lots of fertilizer…
We use earlifters and put the reel far forward, but winter wheat is the worst crop to lift up if it is lodged hard down…
How many pounds of N were applied?
Amazing videos keep up the good work and 1 quick question would you ever get a claas combine
What? I'm glad you are happy with your wheat an getting a great Yield After so many disappointing yields.
So have a great day and be safe.
We had some 64bpa and thought that was amazing lol.
Great Video - I rejoice with you on a great crop of wheat - thank you, Lord!
Did ya finish up harvest? How’s that blade been holding up lol. Pretty sweet to see my work in action.
Great to see some excellent wheat also can you life the chopper up to harvest lentils just wounding and bale combine rows 😊❤️👍🇦🇺
When's a shop coming up at the North farm with these yields
Why not collect and bail your wheat straw and sell it for bedding ? Should be some decent money in that. It’s not like you till it into the ground. So it’s not that much help as organic fertilizer
Instead of chopping and spreading it.
That must be so satisfying not see the knife
Maps, soil sampling and using the combines monitor to tell you yields.... hang on.. You say every other vid that none of that matters and you don't care..? Stop snorting the powder bro.
😆😆 I was hoping for this comment! Great observation, because after 3yrs of no crops or 5bu/ac crops back home on the monitor its good for the soul to see and say verbally a yield that is actually of some value. That's the only reason, at the end of the day, the crops went whatever the trucks haul to the terminals. 🙂
It's great to see the kind of yield a guys plans on.
The good the bad the ugly , like we all experience, well done
I don’t know if the x9 has this same button but on our 780 right next to the auto steer button, there is a button with an E on it to the right. You can use that to switch your tracts rather than fiddling with it on the screen. Just a thought!
Thats a banger crop of wheat 🎉
The x nine is just sensitive has some constipation issues. Will eat lots lol
Beauty of a crop
Will you grow seed for the south farm from the North Farm?
He planted his barley on the south farm this year from last years barley on the north farm
i really like Mikes glasses and would love to know the brand. hope yall see this!!
I have many types, but these that I wear for work our J.F. Wrey 👌🙂
Hey Mike
Hear me out, before you laugh. 😂 I know it would be super expensive but really cool if you got a d11. Now equip the d11 with a deep ripper or root plow. With a v blade plow. So you can push the snow out of the way and deep rip the fields during the winter season. Then play spiked roll aerator behind two level. I'm sure it would help increase the yield and the Frozen breakdowns would be hilarious. 😂 😂
Sorry I'm thinker and a 🐴 (jackass)
Mike, I did some rough calcs, you're harvesting at 2.9km/hr, cutting 15.3m, crop yield 6.3T/Ha, that's 28T/hr out of that X9, surely that's a long way under it's potential as a combine, basically sacrificing grain capacity to turn it into a straw chopping facility? Cheers, you do interesting videos though.
Mike, i have a question; why dont u cut in a angle, like Tony does? Love from Holland. Btw when do u insert Ashtyn' s video's 😊
Haha I summerfellowed too much when I was kid (like eating porridge) and dislike angles 😆... I prefer going perpendicular every year.
Pro tip, take one of the alarm horns apart and find out a way to silence it mechanically, maybe remove the diaphragm, or even just fill the throat with some caulk, so you can have it plugged in and make the computer happy, but not have to listen to it.
I often am called or inspired to do this for parents who have children's toys that are WAY too loud... Smirk
It's amazing how useful a well placed piece of scotch tape over the speaker can be ;)
really nice machines those X9
Good dealership ,very iimportant, we also havve great service fromour JD dealership
No plugged machine? :) Do the different crops add back the lost nutrients from the other crops? Thank you and have a wonderful week.
