Panam is straight, and not Bi or Gay. Baldur's Gate should have done something similar.

I mean, he has a very specific job... One that requires he looks and acts a certain way. I am not going to pretend that the bear scene is something he wouldn't actually go through, you see he doesn't have much of a choice. 😑

However, his inability to control his bear form, and only his bear form, is practically unheard of for druids. Also, there was a werewolf companion named Helia who was planned and then canceled, and parts of her character (like struggling to control the beast) were folded into Halsin when it was decided to make him an actual companion and not just a temporary one. Also, it is entirely possible within lore to be a werebear and not know it (usually by being born one, or turned at a very young age and your parents just never told you). Werebears are also one of the few werebeasts with a default Good alignment, like Halsin, and werebears often become druids (in part due to druids also defaulting to Good alignment and because werebears tends to be good at nature stuff, and druids tend to be a lot more accustomed a person who turns into animals than the average rando) So tl:dr, he's not officially a Werebear, but there's strong evidence that he could be and not know it, and he was likely intended to be a Werebeast at some point in development.
Loved the original it was fantastic, but I love this version so much more, especially the bits that have Halsin saying extra stuff, my favorite is when he said, "It's against nature" when the song went on about his chest being waxed

This is hilarious. There was an actor when i was a kid in the 70's called 'Kenneth Williams' who starred in comedies (any Brit will know the 'Carry On...' movies).
