Actually, It's called "Power Flee" by the manufacturers. It's not a "protection feature" It's a routine hang-up. This process works with a LOT of different electronics that have a routine running to make the electronic device run. What happens, the routine gets stuck in a sequence and there is residual power in the circuit that holds it in that state. Pressing and holding the power button for a length of time, (can be anywhere between 5 seconds and 5 minutes), drains the capacitors, therefore removing any power holding the routine in it's present state, resets the routine to it's initial state so the equipment can run properly.

After make sure the light is on, press the power button for 10 to 30 seconds and it turned on. It worked!!!! Thanks so much. Be blessed....
This works!! Listen and follow along and chances are this will revive your laptop. It did mine. I made the mistake of plugging in to a power inverter on my truck to do a diagnostic scan. My laptop shut down and I could not figure out why. This man explained it as the safety settings inside the laptop triggered the shutdown. After watching him and following his directions, My HP [expensive] laptop came back to life. I had some very expensive software set up to do scans and resolve trouble codes and fine tune my powerstroke 7.3 So glad I saw him on u-tube! Thanks Mr. Fixit!

You may want to add that this problem with the computer getting power but won’t wake up or come on could be due to over heating because not getting enough air circulation or the fan not working appropriately. Mine should have been asleep, but nothing at all happened even pressing power button. But the back where the vents are area was really hot so I figured was overheated. There was no light flashing indicating asleep but the light at the power cord was solid. I couldn’t remove my battery because it’s inside. I plugged in the laptop stand fan and it came on so I let it cool but still not come on. I unplugged everything. Then I held power button for 30 seconds like you suggested. Then I plugged power back in and the fan but fan didn’t come on. Then I hit power button, it booted up. So, I’m assuming it was in sleep due to overheating. Holding the power button for 30 seconds must have forced the shutdown because when it restarted the screen indicated it hadn’t shut down correctly. My laptop is a HP Envy. Hopefully this will help someone with the same kind. Thanks again; I was freaking out.
It is a good night in our house tonight. My Lenovo would not turn on after a spill of orange pop on the table top that the computer was sitting on. The pop did not appear to enter the computer body, but when I tried to turn the computer on in the morning it would not do anything. We tried a few things, but finally gave up and took it to UBreakItWeFix it and they could not help and then we took it to maybe buy another charger as we thought that was the possible problem. The gentleman there said no, it probably was with the jack in the computer and he could order the parts and have it fixed in a week. We were not sure of that solution so we brought the computer home and googled Lenovo. No help there but we found this video and when followed regarding powering down the computer and putting it back together the POWER CAME BACK ON. We use this computer daily, if not hourly, and we are so grateful that you spent the time and effort to give a good description of what to do when all else fails. God Bless!!

Your welcome. The reason behind it is the fact that even though you removed the battery pack and the charger, the laptop still has power stored in the internal Voltage Regulators. Holding the power button down for at least 10 seconds forces the laptop to use the stored energy. Once all the power is drained the Hardware can reset, thus allowing the laptop to reboot when power is restored.

I use to have a different laptop, and I broke it, the screen never turend on and the battery was broken, ofcoures since it was the first time and it was an accident my parents let it slide, when my dad came back from abroad he gifted me with a new one, the new one is the current one that I'm using now, like usual I took care of it and became more cautions with it, today I dicided to put it to sleep mode because I wanted to watch after cooking my dinner, I didn't expect to be gone for long and when I came back my laptop was active but the screen was black, my heart felt such horror and I nearly felt like crying, I didn't want to break another laptop because it was basically still new and fresh, and the fact that if I did break this like the other one then my parents might not buy me another one, I would live my whole life thinking about this incident, but thanks to you I was saved from the disappointed look from my dad and the yelling from my mom hahahahahha
My laptop power button was blinking continuously after sleep mode and never powered ON. I tried option 2 removing battery and switched ON worked for me. Thanks a lot.

I have a Dell laptop which will come on and run for about 10 minutes then shut down. I know it is the GPU which is overheating and have to be taken out and cleaned as I have cleaned the CPU myself and put it back together. After buying different brands of laptops, I found out the hard way not to buy another Toshiba computer since they are hard to get in to clean the CPU fan assembly. You have to totally disassemble the computer to get to the fan and CPU. On the Dell and HP computers it is much simpler to do that.
It's going to get harder to do anything on a laptop now. Ultra thin laptops don't have access doors anymore to replace memory. wifi card and hard drives. You have to do a full disassembly to do any replacements.

The AC adapter is working fine, and will charge the battery (Amber light) when plugged in. Any suggestions? I have the first problem but I got to the forced shut down, then waited, opened it, pressed the power button, but it still didn’t turn on. The battery and power light is on though...
I did fix it but it was cos I opened it and the power ribbon cable got disconnected from the motherboard, also make sure to attach the touchpad ribbon cable and hopefully it should work!
This happened to my Dell last month. It just wouldn't come on. Had to give it for repairs. Cost me a cool 50$ to get it started. If only I had seen your video. My problem was a voltage spike. Which caused the safety shutdown or something.
The motherboard has multiple safety features. 1) if it detects a problem with the power supply, like a surge, then the motherboard will refuse to turn on to protect the components. The board has to be reset and the system should. boot up. 2) if the CPU fan has low or no RPM the System will not boot up to protect the CPU. 3) if the CPU temp approaches critical, the system will slow down the CPU to generate less heat. If the CPU does not cool down the system will go into emergency shut down to prevent the CPU burning out.
@@ESRepair will this be a issue for a dell latitude e6220? Cause mine experienced the issue did ram clean, de statc, changing thermal paste, removing harddrive, it only got to boot up once and after that it's only been caps and power light blinking
It could also be the charging circuity or power jack itself. I had a laptop that would not charge because of how the power jack was soldered to the mother-board. I had to get a new computer because the battery was not longer charging even though all of the other components still worked. Beyond what he showed in the video if I had had anything beyond a simple "power issue" I would either get a new laptop or a new power adapter if the jack itself is not fixable.

Please help. So I was just playing games until the laptop just turned off. I tried turning it back on but it displayed a white screen. I let it sit for a few hours and tried turning it back on, this time the screen stayed black and then there was an LED for a few seconds. It ended up turning off and now every time I try to turn it on it’s just a black screen with absolutely no lights.
I have that with one of my laptops, when I shut it down, on the front is a green led which is always on, the next day I press the power button, normally a 2nd green led will flash and the laptop starts up, but after i had renewed the keyboard and now press the power button, the laptop does not respond immediately, by repeatedly pressing the power button after some 2~5 minutes the 2nd green led blinks a light flashes under my keyboard under the numbers and finally the laptop starts on. then when I open my browser, the screen resolution switches to low resolution 640x480 and a little later back to normal resolution, after every window update I have to set it back to the correct resolution, but every cold boot it jumps to 640x480 and back to normal resolution. if I don't turn it off completely, it just starts up after pressing a button and doesn't jump to low resolution

That is true. It started with the new laptops which are thinner and could not hold DVD Rom drives.

It didn't work for me mine is totally turn off power button is not turn on so i tried this not worked when i pit the charger in i hear sound from power blok but stil the bettery has charge still don't turn on u have any idea? Its dell model p05G

Please help. So I was just playing games until the laptop just turned off. I tried turning it back on but it displayed a white screen. I let it sit for a few hours and tried turning it back on, this time the screen stayed black and then there was an LED for a few seconds. It ended up turning off and now every time I try to turn it on it’s just a black screen with absolutely no lights.

I have that with one of my laptops, when I shut it down, on the front is a green led which is always on, the next day I press the power button, normally a 2nd green led will flash and the laptop starts up, but after i had renewed the keyboard and now press the power button, the laptop does not respond immediately, by repeatedly pressing the power button after some 2~5 minutes the 2nd green led blinks a light flashes under my keyboard under the numbers and finally the laptop starts on. then when I open my browser, the screen resolution switches to low resolution 640x480 and a little later back to normal resolution, after every window update I have to set it back to the correct resolution, but every cold boot it jumps to 640x480 and back to normal resolution. if I don't turn it off completely, it just starts up after pressing a button and doesn't jump to low resolution

I Have ProBook 4340s in my case led on for one time & Can't turn on when i remove the battery
When the battery battery is in the laptop led doesn't flash

Before it's was not turn off so I removed the battery since its happened.
When I put cabal in the cable light on for while and then off.
And the laptops is completely dead.
Would please send me some information. I don't want to take shop for repair.
