A Non-Filipino analysis - I think what's even more important than getting stronger.... is Sotto needs to become quicker and more explosive. He needs to aim for Porzingis/Durant/Brandon Ingram quickness.... rather than trying to get huge and muscled.
His passing is excellent. His shooting touch is excellent. His footwork is excellent. Great court vision and feel for the game.
As an Australian neighbour, I have lots of Filipino friends... so I'd love to see a player born and raised in the Philippines take the NBA by storm. I really hope Sotto is the guy to do it!

    My scouting report:
    1) it looks like he's ambidextrous. Can shoot with his right or left though the right still is his dominant hand based on this video
    2) has really good footwork especially for his size which will be his biggest weapon if he really wants to push that NBA dream
    3) what's more troubling for a lengthy big man like him with good footwork? Having a turnaround fade away shot. Good luck blocking that.
    4) He can be a good shooter as he has shown potential.
    5) What's more deadly than a big man who can shoot from the outside? A big man who can do Eurostep moves and penetrate
    6) So what's deadlier than that? If you can pass the ball and see where your teammates are. He can do that
Obviously it only showed his positive traits. But basing on what I saw, it is still clear that his weakness is his overall strength. Definitely needs to work out a lot.
There's that KP comparisons but KP, I believe is still more agile but his advantage over him is his ability to pass the ball. Work on it young fella!!! Let's go to the NBA!!!

This kid has a dream, and that is to make it to the NBA. He has tremendous work ethic, discipline and dedication - things that you only see in "great ones". Some NBA teams are playing 6'9"/6'10" power forwards as center, and this could make things easier for Kai to get drafted since teams are in desperate need for a big man. Chuck Person and his crew are doing an excellent job. At this point, (with what he has shown with TSF so far) there's no question he will become an NBA player, and if continues to progress, an NBA All-Star selection is not a remote possibility.

Might not be that athletic but he has a feel for the game that alot of people might never get. Has really good foot work in the post and a nice shooting form. If he adds lower body strength he might be really good. I also like the fact he knows how to play the power forward. 2 big line ups are looking more and more rare but with a player like this you can play a less skilled big next to him and still have spacing.

looks like he's a classically trained big man, woud've loved a story where he trained as a guard due to normal height then hit a crazy growth spurt and was gifted with height overnight then had all those skill translate. Or maybe that he was always playing grades above him due to height so he was average amongst them, kinda like bol bol. He does, however, have good hand eye coordination and he's not frail for how tall he is. The best prospect is the one that stays healthy the longest.

    • @notatrollll
      @notatrollll 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

mistergeppettoful my concern is he could also go the way of bol bol. Bol bol was tall, skinny like him and tbh faster, more guard skills overall, averaging 20 ppg in college setting. Yet bol bol is getting no time and people arent sure what to do with him. That being said, bol bol just entered the league on a stacked team and he has had injuries, so we don’t know what will become of him. But lets give this kid a year in the pros or college first and see how he grows into it.

I like this guy. Not twitchy but very smart and methodical. Can see the play develop very quickly. Great skills and a solid shot blocker. Would like to see him develop a jump hook, looks for the fade and up and unders but no one is blocking a jump hook at his release point...He'll need that moving forward

Here is my own scouting report in a year of observing Kai:
    Strengths:
    - Legit 7ft tall
    - He can shoot from the outside (3pts)
    - He's got good hands in catching the ball.
    - Soft touch around the basket and short jumpers
    - Agile/Post plays (great footwork)
    - Excellent free throw shooter
    - Rim Protector/Rebounder
    - high basketball IQ with Good court vision
    - Great passer
    - Can run the floor
    Weaknesses:
    - Skinny (needs to put extra weight)
    - He needs to get stronger
    - He needs to improve ball handling
    - Decision making

I think he's still trying to adapt to his height. Which is crazy. If he continues to work on his footwork, like Hakeem Olajuwon he can be really good. He's got to work on his back to the hoop game. Right now, he's not quick enough to be taking someone off the dribble, if he's going against NBA players. Hope he has good trainers around him to get him prepped. I get he's young, but he needs better completion, maybe NCAA for a few years.
