Episode 46 of my video train blog series. In this episode: Turntable/Bridge progress report and a turntable setup tutorial! More videos at www.ericstrains.com
Eric, great to see all those years of planning finally coming into fruition with respect to your trestle. A sublime execution from start to finish, I'd argue it is one of the finest model bridges ever made. I was watching some of your older videos the other night, it is amazing how far your layout has progressed. Greatly appreciate you sharing your work with us...looking forward to your next videos. All the best, Michael
You did the right design by curving the bridge for all of the reasons you mention. It also enables good visible access to yard et al, below. Great job in planning!
The layout looks great!! The turntable and last part of the steel trestle is looking great. Hope your having fun with this. .. Wish I was doing some work on mine, but the house comes fir st. But enjoy watching your blogs and vids.. Hope your weekend is great can't wait to see the next one. Sam
Looking at your bridge, all together and weathered, the curves really stand out. You answered my question as to why the curves. It does look good. Turntable is coming out great. It's going to be a real nice attraction to your lay out. I would love to use screws on my Atlas track, but I put 1" Styrofoam down before the roadbed and track. I figured it would be easier to put streams and knolls in. Now I can't any screws long enough to reach the ply wood.
FANTASTIC blog episode Eric!!!!!!!!! Love the new turn table, you did a great job demonstrating its programmability and whisker track installation!..... The trestle bridge looks fantastic too, your design is perfect, if it had been straight it would have been boring! Anyways, thanks for the video bud, can't wait to see some trains running on the completed trestle bridge, have a great one bro!
Hi Eric..Thanks for the update, looks great.I agree you added a lot of interest with that bridge. There is only one word for that turntable....FANTASTIC...Thanks again, Frank
The beauty of model railroading it's art and modeling which means it's subjective enjoy it and don't worry what other people think if you like it that's the way it's supposed to be !!!
Eric, I really enjoy your videos with all their "showing n' telling", can't wait for the next one. But 0-8191 is actually 8192 positions (8K=2^13), sorry too many decades working with computers
Hey Eric looks AMAZING and for your first run on the layout how about you do what they did out west and have the two trains meet in the middle of the bridge
Eric, The bridge is fabulous and it makes sense to be curved. Your bridge is not BORING. It is hard to understand, however why the expense of stainless steel fabrication is justified when it is not necessary in prototypical construction material accuracy or visual accuracy and then covered it up with weathering to make it look like silver paint over iron. Neither is it in need of the strength, weather resistance or non-magnetic qualities of SS. Ocean going yachts and racing programs utilize stainless steel ...if they can afford it. Finally, for welding, stainless steel requires higher skill and a finer welder than other metals. I can think of no other reason for a welded stainless steel bridge except for bragging rights. The bridge will be discovered someday by archeologists after all those locomotives have long ago moldered to oxides. Will you start buying locomotives of platinum next and lay down titanium tracks over streets of gold? I am obviously jealous.
I love what you did with the track, I was also hoping to ask for advice. When I was little I stepped on and total destroyed my grandpas n scale layout. I have felt sorry about it and wanted to help him rebuild it. But over time he lost interest and gave all his remaining layout pieces to me. I want to start rebuild his lay out but I don't have the room and I am running out of time for him to see it and remember seeing it. His mind is going quickly. How can I build it without taking a lot of room I only have a bedroom that I live in to build it.
Weather some of your cars and locos. I think it would add some realism to the layout... your layout looks great, but all your locos and rolling stock look brand new. Add some weathered stuff, and it would be ultimate!
14:09 You actually made some mistakes with speaking... : / I think you ment this. 6036 was a little bit too far to one side, 6034 was a little bit too far to the other side. 6035 was right on the money, and that's why track # 11 is at position 6035.
I wish he would just stop his 50 cal. mouth he talks way to much less talk move out some train's and run them at a fast speed not like snail's but he has a very beautiful lay out. I'm sure everyone want's him to stop Talking LOL

your right Eric about the Bridge it gives the layout a serpentine flow that is very pleasing to the eye..well done
Beautiful bridge. Like the indexing feature also. This seems to be the highlight of your layout. Great job.

Absolutely agree that the curvature of the bridge greatly enhances the "look".
Wow your amazing with train layouts!!, great job, you took pride in yourself and that's good
Love that new turntable!

Too bad you don't have your Lionel Big Boy yet to run over the bridge...
Really nice work on the trestle, looks superb.

Great update Eric
Great progress on the layout. Thought about adding a Wye with a train station in the town by the last part of the trestle?
Nice layout

,Eric make a review on the Lehigh valley es44ac
Now does the power on the whisker tracks stay on? Or do you on the power off once a engine is parked?
Hey with the turntable is it powered by the MTH's Z-1000 or is it powered by a different power source
8 years later, how's the turntable holding up. Any issues with it.
Very nice job. Was it hard you put a lot of work in it?
Hola eric/,s muy bueno tus vídeos , que escala son tus trenes?
You should pre order the new Williams Amtrak Genesis coming out late fall
I don't generally order Williams because all they're engines are conventionally controlled...no digital command system installed.
ericstrains I got the Genesis phase V, I am very, very happy with it. Very fast, looks beautiful.
Hey Eric you have an amazing layout and love your vids. Do you think your be getting the new Mth Union Pacific 844 in the 2014 Mth catalog Volume 2?
You should make the track go underneath the table
Eric can you do more postwar reviews?
It works for me.
how about some railroad crossings
Are u using any foam wat the tracks sitting on
hi eric question is all o-scale track inter changeble
Yes. Most brands of track also make transition pieces for connecting to another brand.
Eric how do you wire the turning track on the turntable ?
there's an overhead wire that electrifies it
I have the turntable but the overhead wire I have is a led wire I’m sorry I’m missing something
is it Trainz A New Era? ))
were is layout update 10???
