This is a really beautiful tool. I can see this being integrated into some kind of online version of the tabletop. It's got a nice clean aesthetic to it and the animations are really smooth.

Oh nice, now I know how to see :D . By the way, this app has the potential to be a manual BT client, just like people play on TTS. All you need is dice rolling, models and some way to implement your sheets and its ready for play !

One of the coolest and most useful BT things I've ever seen. Thank you!

I made the house rule of a "shadow" that blocks the line of sight. As long as you don't stand at the edge everything gets a shadow that prevents sight or gives partial cover.
For example a mech stands on LvL2 but not at the edge. The Hex behind the edge gives a cover of LvL2 so a mech isn't seen there. Next hex is still partial cover as the shadow would be LvL1. Third hex is free sight.
Other example LvL5. The next hex has a LvL5 shadow, then 4, 3, 2 and finaly at a distance of 5 hexes you see someone with partical cover.
Its has proven to be a pretty simple and nicely working system that is simple but offers more gameplay then just counting the hex right beside the mech.

This is a great way of visualizing los.
As in your example sometimes it makes no sense that when you are close to a hill but not adjecent that the attacker still has los.
They do have a rule for that in the advanced rules, but to me that one over complicates mathers.

This would be super handy to have on hand. I've just been learning battletech myself and trying to teach some other new players, and line of sight with various elevation effects has been one of the more difficult bits to get our heads around. A tool like this would be super useful for checking that we're doing things right on the fly without spending ages re-reading the rulebook everytime we hit an edge case

I love your tools and content you help offer for the game. I have used this video to show new players LoS for 2 years.

You might want to have a toggleable filter that has a straight line connecting the pins. It would make explaining the differences between line of sight and what someone might think it means much easier to explain.

If you click the target pin the straight-line LOS arrow stays fixed. See 0:33s.
If I've missed your meaning just lmk.

Hi Flechs. Found your channel. Like it a lot.
I hope you might consider to evolve this into a battle map maker tool.
I think it would be aweseome for Mechwarrior RPG Gamemasters and Battletech BG battles with friends.

Afraid not -- as an interactive explanation of the core LOS rules and Unity 3D experiment its basically feature complete.

Are these the rules from the main rule book? I wonder if we've been using the rules form Max Tech.

    • @flechs-software
      @flechs-software  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes -- as found in A Game of Armored Combat boxed set rules, Total Warfare and the BattleMech Manual.
