On the grey knit Calvin Klein dress........that is actually a highly stylized dress yet it brilliantly ends up with a simple casual attractive feel. A lot of thought has gone into the development of that dress by the fabric, the weight of the fabric, how it feels and drapes together with the cut and shape of that dress. The bias trim makes it very cute....also designer labels usually have a different grade of fabric as in the way its feels and sometimes the pattern in the weave or the stripes is very appealing and unique. Can you be more explicit about how you attached the bias trim at the waist and the casing. Yes, that dress does have a casual feel but the dress as a whole with the jacket is more complex in every aspect than it appears at first.....that is why it is Calvin Klein and that is why it is 150.00. A lot more goes into the total end product.....that is why it looks good but that is also why sewing can be confusing. You are very knowledgeable and experienced seamstress in pattern making, fit, and the choice of fabric and your expertise is admirable. Can you spend more time on the details because in the long run I have sewn many a garment and wondered why my product did not end up like what I had envisioned in the beginning. Recently I saw fabric with a name brand like Calvin Klein in a high end fabric store but it was obviously quite unique in look and feel to the less expensive fabrics.....just at that point it was obvious why it was more expensive because the design on the fabric was so cute and not available on the less costly bolts. As a matter of fact it was a wide gray and white stripe and as you said it had a lovely hand........ As you are so knowledgeable can you just go into this kind of thing......and also the waist band placement in order to get the degree of fullness and blousing you required.......did you just take the pattern and cut off the 3 inches as you described......please tell us your process there.....did you try it on many times? Most of the time I do not find sewing to be quite that casual........watching your vids often and thank you for your time. cl
Thank you!
i know this was in 2014, but i have a question what silhouette pattern did you use. I've been looking.
